Wow, I searched and found this video after burning my rice and melt myTupperware rice cooker cause I didn't use enough water. Just tried your technique, very simple and the rice came out beautifully. Never have to scrub a burned pot again. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this. All these crazy people. If they didn't want to make rice in a microwave, what are they doing here. We've had a microwave rice cooker for as long as I can remember. It's a plastic pot with two lids that lock down to steam the rice. $5-10. It's so much easier than cooking on the stove, which I have a tendency to forget about and let burn. Others may not have this problem, but I love the fact that you push a couple of buttons and can concentrate on the rest of the meal.
@smiletogreet How broke are you to complain about 14 minutes of microwaving.. Maybe he doesn't wanna buy a rice cooker.. Maybe he only cooks rice once in awhile
@smiletogreet The cost is not really that much. Running a microwave full power for an hour may cost you about 10 bucks. That said, for 15 minutes you're talking about $2.50. When you compare that to $80 up to $200 for a rice cooker, it's not really expensive at all. Then, take into account that when you cook rice in the microwave, you don't need to use full power -- it's more like a wash, or even cheaper. What's easier about it? Nothing! It doesn't save money, and they're a bitch to clean.
@dickdog1 I am confused by your comment because you do see my face in this video towards the end. Did you not watch till the end? That might explain your comment.
Also, I figured people looking for white rice on Youtube would probably want to see how the rice is made rather than me talking.
you never boil rice in salt water, the rice will always remain a little bit hard inside. Has to do with osmosis through the cell membranes. Salt it after cooking.
Thanks for sharing this video! I am linking this video to my video"How to make riceball" ^-^ This your video will help my friends to make rice easily! ^0^
wow, i just tried it and it tastes same as in a rice cooker..actually a bit better cos i usually have this layer of burnt rice at the bottow on the bowl in the rice cooker....with the microwave it was perfect...thanks a million!
to curtisshadyAMG: another easy thing to make till your parents get home is "Spagetti". Real EASY....get some water boiling in a pan throw in the spagetti for 15 minutes, drain the water off, put on a plate....oh yes....buy a jar of spagetti sauce and pour over it. Cooking is something every young person should learn over time.
TRY THIS its GOOD.....after the rice is made....un-shell about 10 pistachio nuts....put them in a little cheapo coffee grinder and grind them for about 10 seconds til almost powdery. Sprinkle the powder on the rice and mix in well.....DELISCIOUS !!!!!!!
i think it was done really well, and those who prefer rice cooker why don't u stop bothering yourslef with leaving nasty comments? go and enjoy your rice cooker.I bought a microwave instead! Billobo, Bravo!

You're right, maybe people who do not have a 'rice cooker' would love to know how to make rice otherwise. @chemao1978 The average electricity cost in the US is about 10 cents / kWh. at 900W, you spend 9 cents per hour, or about 3 cents to make the rice.
