@suzannakex - Because the whole film is about Secret Luciferian Satanic Sex Ritual Cult that runs the world. This is why many believe Kubrick was killed because of this content. 4 days after showing the final cut to Hollywood movies execs, who told him the film could not be released in the states, he was found dead at his home by his family, under mysterious circumstances. Film is deep.
I loved this movie from the first time I saw. Back in 2009 I think, It really was definetly the best movie I've seen in years, If someone asks me what my favourite movie is, I'm going to say Eyes Wide Shut definetly. This movie is so beautiful and hard to understand though. The men in costumes, and masks etc... That's just so original.
LUCKY TO BE ALIVE says the headline of the newspaper Tom is reading...it's in the same font as the movie credits, too. Kubrick's films transcend themselves, they are always so much more than just another movie. :)
I just watched this film the other night, and I don't really get it. He ended up in a masked orgy but why was he in "great danger" ? afterwards why was it so urgent for him to find the man that played the piano? and what was the significance of the girl dying overdosing..i'm confused would love it if someone can explain :)
@enoching7 Lol! Bingo, that's it. Good call. I know she was young at the time, but I thought Lele Sobieski (not sure if I got the spelling correct) was smokin' hot.
Hi can u tell me what this movie is about whats it tryng 2 say what it means...My guy frnd used this movie 2 tell me sum bout me and hm and our future...plz if u dont mind
I adore Stanley Kubrick - one of my all time favorite directors. Eyes Wide Shut was impressive movie with all these natural scenes, amazing acting (especially Nicole Kidman - supertalent), suspense, thrill...
@Drnamsmv The experience of watching EWS is designed to act as a metaphorical mirror for audiences to sit and reflect upon their own reality. Tom Cruises character spends much of the film seeking out sexual gratification, only to find repeated disappointment, during which he makes a terrifying discovery about the social hierarchy that he lives in. This is the exact same journey that audiences had in viewing the film.
@f0xjump This is the same journey that audiences had in viewing the film. They went into EWS expecting to feast their eyes on raunchy sex scenes, only to find repeated disappointment, during which they made a terrifying discovery about the social hierarchy they live in. So the widely believed idea that EWS was badly marketed is false.
@f0xjump The marketing drew attention on the promise of sexual fantasy, but what we got was Kubrick ingeniously using the cinema screen as a symbolic mirror to show us a reflection of how perverted and decadent we have become.
wtf i dont get anything of this trailer! some say this movie is porn and then i see ritual stuff?

@enoching7 Wasn't it something like, "We need to fuck as soon as possible?" said by Kidman?
jonesy97 1 year ago
@jonesy97 from imdb:
"Alice Harford: I do love you and you know there is something very important we need to do as soon as possible.
Dr. Bill Harford: What's that?
Alice Harford: Fuck. "
