  • What a solo... simply marvelous.

  • Conception had a good run with Khan as did Kamelot. I think many people dislike Kamelot because they're posers that are fans of how "metal" something is rather than appreciating the music for the musicianship, not the teenage mentality towards one genre. They're both good bands, but Kamelot has written many more melodies and talented harmonies than this band. It's no surprise, though. This band is centered more towards metal riffs than musical melody. Using the same flamenco scales gets old.

  • ...

    Awesome !

I dislike Kamelot, but the singer is purely mervellous. This band is insane, it's under rated masterpiece.

Unbelievable music : it's a solid composition, not a Metal for posers.

I'm happy to find this kind of band, really.

  • Conception was better than Kamelot

  • Powerprog epic at is highest !! With a fusion touch. Bring more music like that!!

  • Yes Sr. Is the actual vocalis from Kamelot? Roy Kan I gess in the voice, Tore Ostby in the guitar Harve Heimdal in drums and Ingar Hamliet in bass.

  • I'm so glad Roy Khan no longer stuggles with pitch like he did back when this song was done...

  • the guitarist & singer A grade combination.Man this band is one of a kind, they should reform & create more magic....

  • @madometal Roy left for that sub-par band Kamelot.

  • yeah pretty good :D

  • is the vocalist from kamelot?

  • @avanter19 Yes.

  • @avanter19 is really, sound like khan from kamelot

  • @avanter19 chronologically kamelot's vocalist is from conception ;)

  • i seen these live in aprox 94/5/6 supporting skyclad at jb,s in dudley west midlands, fuckin awsum band live and ive got the album paralel minds on vinyl sumwere

  • who is this guitarist????

  • Tore Østby.

  • the intro is so much IT BITES

  • fantastic song, the al di meola influence is obvious.tore ostby loves fusion, see ark.roy khan is an exremely skilled singer.

  • Yeah, I noticed Ark had some impressive guitar....later I found out it is him. I heard that Ark were getting back together I think.

  • this would be great.i recommend you to listen to al di meola check his albums like elegant gypsy

  • these guys r fucking awsome!!

  • GREAT MUSIC

  • I'm a prog fan too, It's not dragon slaying and that epic nonsense!!! Conception had profound and deep lyrics, Khan's lyrics are allegoric, thoughtful and stunning. Thanks Conception for delivering to the prog community such songs and albums as In your multitude!!

  • @Neueregel Are you thinking of Symphonic Power Metal?

  • @imperialwizard123 my comment was 2 years. Follow my intitial discussion. I replied to some guy that pointed out that this is like Power metal. And yes i was thinking about Symphonic power metal because lyrically most bands are lame in that genre

  • Well, To Each His Own.

  • "Dragon Slayer" music? Perhaps you're thinking of power metal, lol.

Uhh.... I don't hear power metal in this. At all.

    Lyrics, music, etc.

Sounds pretty damn prog to me.

  • it has prog sound to it yes i agree. but it still just isnt the kind of prog that i enjoy. its basically prog mixed with power metal as you put it. the singer just rubs me the wrong way, all i can think of is every hair metal singer. the music is def tight, but lyrics aside, his vocal teqniques and melodies don't do it for me. as spydrfish said, well, to each is own.

  • You mean the generic power metal...

And even most of that is dragonless.

  • well for some reason i think of people riding around on dragons and barbarians destroying from this style singer

  • i mean i live in south america lol

    sry

i will seach in itunes =D

  • If they are not available through itunes try ordering the albums from China or Japan sometimes they have them and can freshly print the cd's.

  • Comment removed

  • unbelivable O.o no comments

how can i buy their album ? =C

i live in nourth america here haves nothing to buy lol

    are they on itunes?

  • Well I did Ebay.....but I dunno.

  • Hey, lucky for you three of conception's albums are going on sale for 10 dollars at the laser's edge (Lasercd) so hurry while they last.

  • I wanna listen the "Gravity" . Please upload・・・

  • Well there are already allot of songs up...but okay check by my other channel where I still upload music called SPiderpisces...maybe it'll show up soon...perhaps I'll only temporarily upload it.

  • Go Over to SPiderpisces...I'm not keeping it up for long though...if you want it I"ll Rapidshare it to you.

  • I just love how civilized this thread is. It's us civilized prog-rockers to blame.

  • I find it funny it became a discussion thread instead of just comments on the song.

  • hiya im sorry if i sound like an idiot (ive been into grunde for a long time and im sick and tired of people talking about nirvana, so i think it might be a similar sort of thing) but ive just got heavily heavily into tool, and i was wondering what bands might be good to check out bearing in mind im pretty new to prog, i also have dream theaters octavarium album and think its quite good but not as good as tool. this song seems pretty good too, but still a pointer in the right direction maybes?

    x

  • There is no "right direction". People have different opinions and expectations . Try Conception, Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Opeth, Beyond Twilight, Communic, Pagan's Mind, Isis, Meshuggah, Nevermore, Outworld, Sieges Even. :D

  • And Sun Caged.

  • I Just got real into sun caged...after finding them through the band Lemur voice...Marcel was formerly a member.

  • Since you are a tool fan... you should check out the bands Prisma & Indukti, if you don't mind them taking allot of influence, Riverside would be another one to look at... Also Fate's warning's album "Disconected" would be in your style.

  • Dude Im also pretty new to prog..I have like 4 months listening it...but something really cool is this band CIRCUS MAXIMUS. start with songs such as "arrival of love" and

    "glory to the empire"

  • Circus Maximus! Mega' choice.

  • yeah a great great banda...I don't know if you've ever heard ANDROMEDA...wow what a cool band, a great song of them is "chameleon carnival"..super great.

    Cheers

  • cheers guys, your all ledgends!

    x

  • Well, this one seems sort of obvious since you're writing under a Conception song but I'd say definitely check out Kamelot (the band that Roy Khan is now in). They're a bit different than a lot of progressive bands - mostly due to the way in which Khan sings - but they are amazing. Nothing else you hear will ever sound anything like them (except, to a small extent, possibly Conception, only because Khan was in both.)

  • Outworld!!, Conception!!, Beyond twilight, Ayreon, shadow gallery, porcupine tree. acctually...... just go to progarchives(dot)com look up some bands you already know and like, then search that style on the site, see what you find.

  • Tool has heavy prog rock elements but the big difference is...NO ONE sounds like Tool...i could easily mistake this song for Dream Theater...i think you'll find most so called "prog rock" sounds very similar...just look for yourself man...some of my favorites are Tool, Primus, Ween, and King Crimson just to name a few.....

  • yeah i listen to primus abit but i never thought them very proggy. but i must admit i have started to fall inlove with conception and dream theatre. its just so damn good =D

    x

  • most prog rock? i hope you mean most prog metal(wich i havnt heard much of) because prog rock is one of the most varied genres there is.

  • sure....i guess if you're going to be more specific yea you're right!

  • This doesn't sound much like Dream Theater, it sounds like Kamelot. No one sounds exactly like Tool, but there a million copies, just like DT.

  • the only thing Kamelot-esque about this is Khan. This sounds nothing like Kamelot.

I don't hear DT either. And it sounds almost nothing like Tool. The bassline could be a Tool line, sure... that's about it.

It's pretty clean and unique, to me.

  • Yeah... ih8yalls is right it doesn't sound much like Dream Theater... Which is good that they made prog metal without following the DT BandWagon...I missed you saying that earlier...

  • Dream Theater?

Conception sounds nothing like Dream Theater, unless you're an idiot who lumps "prog metal" together as if it's a uniform genre.

    Tool is drastically overrated.

  • i have to disagree...assholes and elbows we all have it seems, doesn't seem to matter much either what I think or you think. What matters is, enjoy what you enjoy and enjoy the hell out of it.

  • @oooooooooorly

The guitar part in this song sounds like a Petrucci's one (harmonic minor as in DT's Home).

  • @Ashura95

Because DT has a fucking copyright on harmonic minor?

Petrucci doesn't play flamenco, and the shred is much more concise and musical than anything Petrucci would play. Hell, Ostby is overall a much better guitarist than Petrucci.

The song itself is much less bloated and ridiculous than anything DT would play.

  • idk man, i can see a moderate similarity in here, in fact some parts which sound exactly like either voices or scarred i forget which one. and that intro is very dtish...tool is highly overated. danny carey is great and they have some lyrics with meaning but id far prefer this.

  • @charvinaldo

    Dream Theater doesn't do flamenco.

  • @oooooooooorly because they don't do flamenco means that Petrucci's not good enough? Poor argument.

  • @mdo0bm

Do you actually bother to read the posts you're replying to before spouting off moronic fanboyisms?

  • @oooooooooorly nah.

  • @mdo0bm looks like you have a little boy crush on this guy yourself. but i can kinda see it though. he's good. and btw, its mighty brave of you to insult people behind a monitor. relax man.

  • please, if you have another rare groups updown

  • The URL to me on Imeem is in my profile (Seems it won't let me post it in a comment) I won't do anymore here cause youtube just isn't safe anymore.

  • Go to my new music account, Spiderpisces.

  • Great song!

  • This song is amazing,so mach music here ....Dream Theatre ,Shadow Galery and Conception rulls!!!!
