  • Verrry very nice job ^^ Lovely accent :)

  • Nice work! Love Splashdown. Thanks for giving their music new life ; )

  • Damn, and I thought no one outside New York has ever heard of Splashdown...

  • Great voice.

  • You are a very talented musician can you play at my next birthday party?

  • great guitar

but the singing is ... just listenable

you obviously have never had lessons in singing

because the first thing they tell you not to open your mouth side to side you get that little kid "EEEEEE" sound

and lastly you need to put less emphasis on your high notes i comes out "than suddenLY you acting out ... she"ll HUMing HIGHer now" (you have no idea how hard that is to put in written words)

a singer myself, i like it when i am offered critic

because that is the only way we can improve

  • @crownedkitty67 Fair nuff, although you're wrong about the guitar playing :P

  • @BobbyJenkins oh come on your good

well its not like the edited stuff but no ones THAT good

  • You are amazing !: :)

can you send me chords , please ?

  • I think you did beautiful. It drives me nuts this band never got bigger. I have no idea how to play guitar, im just a singer... and you can NEVER find anything on her or them....uuug frustrated.

  • i have to disagree with a previous comment regarding your accent. i think your voice is beautiful and hearing you speak at the beginning of this take gave me a positive feeling that your singing voice would be very good and that it is. i love this cover.

  • Hurrah! Great cover! I love how your accent vanishes when you start singing and you adopt hers ;-) It also warms my heart to see someone in Scotland enjoying Splashdown when I hail from New Zealand and listen to the same stuff. Melissa's voice is wonderful... and so is yours!

  • Splashdown forever! Alice forever! Map and key forever! Sam's bobs forever!

    ;)

  • @DanMalo82 Jeez, talk about blast from the past and a half. Thanks dude!

  • marry me

  • Wow.

  • @TheHasi666 It's partially a hobby but me and Adam Buhler are recording an EP that is due out later this year.

  • @BobbyJenkins OMG! 0_0 Adam Buhler?! Of Splashdown?!

    *grovel at your feet*

  • @GraphitePen Yup, keep an eye out for the CD around Sept/Oct. You're worthy, you're worthy, get up! :P

  • you sing some songs that i never heard before and i love it!!

this is a great song... i don't know the original, but you are simply so natural singing and playing, and i'm almost sure i'll preffer yours when i hear the original.

  • This must be the 5th time I've watched this. Absolutely love it! Keep it up! Geez...it's be fantastic if Splashdown got back together...

  • A very difficult song to play much less sing too. Your voice is glorious!

  • Vocally, you really do the song justice..

  • This is great! Another Spashdown lover. Very impressed with your singing.

  • I think it was very good))

  • Fantastic...keep it up. Splashdown rulez

  • ah have heard tha original and ah think yars is better

  • Wow, I was really pleasantly surprised here. I tend to suspect the worst whenever I click link of acoustic covers on youtube, but your voice is honestly beautiful. It has a sort of quiet power to it. The song does sound a bit stripped down on acoustic guitar, but your voice carried it well enough I think. I'd like to hear more of your things now, after stumbling across this by accident.

  • Thanks! I'm far from an accomplished guitar player, so your criticism is fair. Feel free to subscribe, I'm making an album with Adam Buhler and you'll get exciting (boring) updates (rambles) on the album's progress.

  • I agree with Difyr, my friend linked me after he'd stumbled on it accidentally. Actually, I've heard them both, and...I think I like yours better. You just need to play an electric guitar - "accomplished" player or not - and it'd be perfect. :P I just might buy that album when it comes out...

  • Great Job!!

  • This was really good. I'm a big Splashdown fan myself, and it's admittedly rare to find someone who has heard of them let alone can do a cool acoustic cover. Nice job!

  • I'm kind of impressed that Splashdown made it all the way to Scotland. Not that popular of a band to be playing all the way over there, but good job with it.

  • I discovered them thanks to a close online friend from Canada. The wonders of technology! Thanks : )

  • they made it to ireland too!

found a video of the song "So Ha!" on newgrounds and introduced em to a few mates:D

  • I found out about them with the very same video. Then I found a website with all of their songs, and my life has never been the same ever since.

Awesome cover, you've really managed to nail the feeling. I love your voice too, do you have a Myspace Music account?

  • Where is this video?

  • This is my 2nd fav of ur vids, after Seagull Song. It helped me decide to relearn the guitar. awesome voice, ur names gonna be up in lights

  • I can hardly...maybe its not there at all, your accent is like gone when you sing anyway! second comment ive left! awsome job!

  • wow ur really good! u ever write any of ur own stuff? u could totally make an album or something!

  • Let me reiterate: AWESOME!

  • Awesome!

  • Damn.

    Nice.

  • 1) another great Splashdown cover

    2) Scottish accent FTW. Hawt. Just saying.

  • ive always wanted to learn guitar, but it is too complicated to me. so i became a drummer.

but props, guitar is hard as hell

  • Drumming's pretty hard too, trying to get that 4-way rhythm takes some skill. Don't put yourself down!

  • Thanks bro. I didn't mean drumming was easy, not by a long shot. but once you learn enough rythems them break down the multitasking part its pretty easy to sit there and just groove. And then you play this rlly cool amazing beat and you stop. Then your like how the hell did i just do that? then you sit there for like an hour trying to figure it out.

Guitar is just sooooo much stuff to learn and know.

Drums are keeping a beat and multitasking and chops.

Chops are your finger strengt btw.

  • Sorry, chops are not merely your fingers getting stronger, I'd say your brain is more involved in developing your "chops".

  • Molto bene, certainly warmed up a "hot" scottish day at this end...great cover!

  • haha and by love I suppose I mean that I met Kasson Crooker a few days ago, and found your video searching for splashdown.

  • Cool, is he a nice enough person? Adam, the guitarist, is a really down-to-earth guy, easy to talk to.

  • Wheeeeee!! that was beautiful. I love splashdown, and I'm excited to see that people cover them!

  • wow, way better then I was expecting! It was actually good.

  • very nice.. well done.. keep it up

  • ahhhh! You did it! I admit when I clicked the link I had hesitation, Splashdown is hard to cover and Charming spell is a tough one. But you nailed it!

    Subscribed

  • Your version of this song is fantastic! I often have trouble with covers of bands I really like (and I *love* this under-appreciated band), but you totally made this song your own. Thank you for sharing it with us!

  • Interesting. You have an amazing voice. I'd like to credit you for having such stable controle on your notes as well. keep up the good work.

  • Hey! :o)

  • i love you

  • wow u go girl - thats freakinclass!

  • HEY, I'm a huge fan of splashdown and universal hall pass. And I've seen you're versions...very good, like really. Im happy someone else is trying to do this.

I have a couple splashdown songs I have in the works, playing acoustic and singing.

I actually got the idea from you. ha. I've done Pandora and Elvis Sunday.

but yeah, once i get a chance I'd like to post some video's. It just sucks that I never really have quiet and a good room to record this.

    anyways, rock on

  • Excellent! Just what I wanted to hear! I look forward to watching them.

  • Wow, she's done an amazing job with this song! GREAT VOICE AND GUITAR SKILLS!! Two thumbs way up girl!!!!!

  • I think you play better than splashdown. Awesome song!

  • I from Amazonas, Manaus - Brazil. I´m splash down fan i really apreciatte your perform and i wanna congrtz u ^^. Keep going!

  • Wow you're a really talented singer =)

    Fab job

  • amazing! :)

  • Btw, the lesbian song is great!

  • great job, your vocals are great, I wish you didnt live in scotland we could start a cover band. I know all the songs on bass

  • Aw man that'd be sweet! Splashdown cover band! You could find someone in your area who could use these videos to figure out the songs on the guitar and sing for you etc.

  • Well, you can be sure that so long as you keep pounding out these songs, you'll at least keep getting favorites from me. I don't know how many different ways I can say "I love this" and "thank you so much for posting these", but... I love this, and thank you for posting these.

  • Not as good as your other ones, but I think you know that. It's prob the most difficult one to re-imagine, but that's ok. Try again! Do you have any original songs?

  • Yeah, 'Caught off Guard' is my own, and if you look in my favourites there's a video of me at a party doing 'Sam's Bobs Makes Me' (The Lesbian song)

  • Difficult to re-imagine is right. The original is such a non-acoustic song that what Jenkins has been able to do with it is incredible. It has a very earthy feel to it (which I love), and has this oddly captivating vibe to it. When I close my eyes and listen to it, I can't help feeling reminded of Alfred Noyes' "The Highwayman". This version almost sounds like a contemporary retelling of it in spirit if not in exact lyric composition (with a more mystic twist). *Do* you have any original songs?

  • I have a song 'Caught Off Guard' that is on here, and as I say, I wrote a silly song called 'The lesbian song' which you can find on my favourites. Been meaning to post some more of my own stuff but been busy with one or two music projects.

  • Also thank you for the indepth compliments : ) It's inspiring to hear from someone who sees music in such detail.

  • Have you thought about covering other non-Splashdown songs? That would be so...cool!

  • I've done a rough cover of Tim Buckley's song to the siren. Although I might take it down cause the chords are wrong in it.

  • I think it's fantastic. I wouldn't take it down. ^_^

  • A tough song to cover. Sounds good.

( for like two months when my computer was out of service, this and "So-Ha" were the only songs on my i-pod. This one still has most plays :) )

  • I didn't really work on tryna make it a 'cover' since it is the kind've song that doesn't work on acoustic so well. Was just more figuring out the chords for it. But thanks. So Ha is an ace song too : )

  • sounds good dear

  • sounds good dear

  • Awesome! a little rough, but still awesome! So weird hearing it acoustic.
