Cet enregistrement permet de distinguer entre une bonne interprétation et ce qui restera un sommet de la musique . Mais aussi ,c'est émouvant de voir , pas seulement d'écouter .
What an incredible video! I have been absolutely blown away. It's amazing to see how different it is performing with family. The atmosphere on stage feels so magical with them. Thank you for sharing this morph47, this is one of my favorite videos on youtube now!
I believe that Oistrakh, who was a true gentleman, acknowledged that Kogan had attained a higher level. I dont prefer Kogan to Oistrakh on everything, but generally i like his interpretations more. He is more "modern".
well that is true of course i was simply wondering if we were to attenpt it who would we put in their place -maybe vengerov/repin or mintz/chung i dont know would be interested to know ur thoughts
Kogan WAS better than Oistrakh. Kogan was better than everyone. Who else could play like him, besides maybe Paganini himself? And don't even try saying Heifetz
You're kidding, right? No one had the soviet muscle Kogan had. No one even had the straight MUSCLE that Kogan had. You are right in saying that Oistrakh had a good deal of muscle but to say that he had more than Kogan is an incorrect assertion.
Oistrakh's sound has unmatched power. Kogan went for clarity rather than power, thus he used steel strings on all 4.
Listen to Oistrakh's Brahms violin concerto with George Szell, his sound with the Marsick is perfect. No doubt Kogan could play paganini better, but then so can 14yo chinese girls.
your lack of differentiation and recognition of kogan's superiority over '14yo chinese girls' shows a great lack of cognition on YOUR part; not a lack of anything, much less power, on kogan's part
@killerstrawberry25 i have seen those girls, here on youtube, not even 1% close to Leonid Kogan, not a single bit, completely feelingless, i can not believe h4xXx0r compares them, I mean, comparing Kogan to Oistrakh is one thing, but to the chinese girl, not acceptable
they have different styles. It's just a matter of who do you yourself like more. If I would choose, I hope to hear Kreisler playing all sort of songs.
She is saying that Pavel Kogan is student of CMS (central music school) means that he is under 18 years old. Also orchestra is a student orchestra of Moscow conservatory.
I think no violinist "is all things to all people", as the great critic Henry Roth observed, is true. That said, if violin playing can be compared to swordfighting, Leonid the Great would be pretty tough to out duel!
Simply Brilliant performance! Bravo! Thank you for sharing such a rare video!

Saying that L. Kogan is better than D. Oistrakh is like saying that Guarneri is better than Strad.
Even though it is a metaphoric comparison, the funny part is that Kogan did prefer del Gesù while Oistrakh played on Stradivarius.

calloffthedogs 3 years ago 5
Actually I thought Kogan said that Oistrakh was better.
GLXLR 3 years ago
It is possible. Both men held each other in very high regard and both were equally self depricating. Both are absolute kings of the violin.
calloffthedogs 3 years ago 3
I must agree with you, Kogan is better. Kogan's actually the best ever in my opinion, but Oistrakh of course is another great master
