  • What an incredible video! I have been absolutely blown away. It's amazing to see how different it is performing with family. The atmosphere on stage feels so magical with them. Thank you for sharing this morph47, this is one of my favorite videos on youtube now!

  • wow a concerto for 4 violins sheesh

  • thats right, but king Oistrakh in the front!

  • David Oistrakh is the best of all

  • @kaysony22

You got one thumb up, but now it doesn't exist, sorry, it was me. since I heard leonid kogan, Oistrakh isn't any more the greatest for me:)

  • I agree with you. Kogan is best for me too.

  • I believe that Oistrakh, who was a true gentleman, acknowledged that Kogan had attained a higher level. I dont prefer Kogan to Oistrakh on everything, but generally i like his interpretations more. He is more "modern".

  • Fantastic

  • 睾丸(小)は14歳か。

  • это просто супер..

  • I have never heard so impressive Vivaldi before.

  • I have never seen so many stupid comments in my life....."the Oistrakh rushing" tops them all..

  • LOL that's really crazy :D

  • Kogan by far the best of all those Soviet heros.

  • How that i know russian and all that she said in the beggining i uderstand it

    And i love his performance

  • imagine it could be poss to replicate this today- - which soloists would fill such big shoes?!

  • it is NOT possible to fill David and Leonid's shoes.

  • well that is true of course i was simply wondering if we were to attenpt it who would we put in their place -maybe vengerov/repin or mintz/chung i dont know would be interested to know ur thoughts

  • Perlman/Zukerman probably

  • wow. I wonder how much the ticket for this concert would cost if, hypothetically speaking, it were held today

  • your an idiot of course it Vivaldi's works

  • wow.....

  • kogan was better tha oistrakh , listen oistrakh 2:02 to 2:06... mmmmm ????

  • Comment removed

  • its quite funny when they play in unison, its like watching toys moving their bows up n down!

  • nice

  • Wow!

  • absolutely right!!!

  • ...people like this are so rare to find nowadays....

  • Голос похож на голос женщины-психолога, говорящей в начале "Зеркала" А. Тарковского

  • Saying that L. Kogan is better than D. Oistrakh is like saying that Guarneri is better than Strad.

Even though it is a metaphoric comparison, the funny part is that Kogan did prefer del Gesù while Oistrakh played on Stradivarius.

  • Kogan WAS better than Oistrakh. Kogan was better than everyone. Who else could play like him, besides maybe Paganini himself? And don't even try saying Heifetz

  • Kogan didn't have Oistrakh's soviet muscle.

  • You're kidding, right? No one had the soviet muscle Kogan had. No one even had the straight MUSCLE that Kogan had. You are right in saying that Oistrakh had a good deal of muscle but to say that he had more than Kogan is an incorrect assertion.

  • Oistrakh's sound has unmatched power. Kogan went for clarity rather than power, thus he used steel strings on all 4.

Listen to Oistrakh's Brahms violin concerto with George Szell, his sound with the Marsick is perfect. No doubt Kogan could play paganini better, but then so can 14yo chinese girls.

  • your lack of differentiation and recognition of kogan's superiority over '14yo chinese girls' shows a great lack of cognition on YOUR part; not a lack of anything, much less power, on kogan's part

  • @killerstrawberry25 i have seen those girls, here on youtube, not even 1% close to Leonid Kogan, not a single bit, completely feelingless, i can not believe h4xXx0r compares them, I mean, comparing Kogan to Oistrakh is one thing, but to the chinese girl, not acceptable

  • they have different styles. It's just a matter of who do you yourself like more. If I would choose, I hope to hear Kreisler playing all sort of songs.

  • wow.

  • Russian geniuses!!

  • She is saying that Pavel Kogan is student of CMS (central music school) means that he is under 18 years old. Also orchestra is a student orchestra of Moscow conservatory.

  • a fabulous document of the russian school

  • i cant take my eyes off david...he;s the best

  • Leonid is even better. Oistrakh is great though

  • Actually I thought Kogan said that Oistrakh was better.

  • It is possible. Both men held each other in very high regard and both were equally self depricating. Both are absolute kings of the violin.

  • I must agree with you, Kogan is better. Kogan's actually the best ever in my opinion, but Oistrakh of course is another great master

  • I think no violinist "is all things to all people", as the great critic Henry Roth observed, is true. That said, if violin playing can be compared to swordfighting, Leonid the Great would be pretty tough to out duel!

  • Ooh. Leonid the Great versus King David!

A clash of epic, cosmic proportions!

  • niiiiiice

  • Is this commercially available? Where did you get this video?

  • Exactly. I never seen this for sale? Great videos!

  • Great! Raises the old issues of nature and nurture in the development of musical skills from basic talent.
