Funny how the supra fanboys all say, "yeah, vette got whipped" even though the Vette won 2 out of 3 races. The 3rd race, it sounds like the Vette was trying to hold back slightly on the launch just to see if the supra could reel him in. That supra may have 100hp on top of the Vette's 500whp, but the Vette has a flatter torque curve that is instantly available (ie: No Lag). I guess the supra wasn't ready the first 2 races ("hold on. I need 5 more seconds to get my boost up to make any power").
the supra runs 10.1 @140mph, yes i use to own the car. first two races third gear was missed due to a busted scyncro. the car makes 817rwp on c16, that nit it running on 91 and street tires. tony is a great driver so complement to his street racing skills, et wise the z06 has no chance at the track.
zo6 got owned first 2 was bad launch or missed gear and the supra even stomped his brakes at the end and the zo6 got sad and punched it still and made it look like a win

Gearing will only get you so far... When you put lower gearing in a car, you're successfully shortening all your gears... So, you're sacrificing top speed for acceleration, so even if you do regear, the car with the higher power to weight ratio is 99% of the time, going to be faster.
@lt1snail If you put 25 psi on a corvette v8 it would be making around 900 hp as opposed to the supra's "500 hp" so no shit it would destroy the engine. A stock 2jz couldnt handle that much hp either.

My RX8 has probably the highest hp/l output of ANY engine on the market today. Still only runs low 14's. Hp/l is one of the most useless measures of performance. If anything cars with good hp/l usually have shitty power-bands, which are the true measure of real world performance.
@m1brett If you watch the last race closely you can hear that the Z06 starts in a higher gear than the other runs, thus the Supra was able to keep up. It was a handicapped race, hardly a win. If the Z06 had started in the gear he normally launched in it would have been a repeat of the other races.
The vette was N/A in the 3 races just look at the title : 2002 zo6 LS2 402 N/A .

supra's are notorious for loss of traction. Even from a role with good tires they still loose traction. the first and second race it looked like either a loss of traction or he wasn't racing.. BTW..I would love to see an individual with an all-motor Supra do what I have done...here it is....'95 Lingenfelter/Halibeck ZR-1.....0-60 3 seconds....1/4 mile,10.2 @ 151....70-0 in 98 feet....rated top speed of over 210 mph before the test-driver let go.....still gets 17mpg city,24.5 highway....with the a/c on & music blasting..all motor....no nonesense...my point is speed costs money guys...I just prefer my speed unboosted..you might like my car too fellas.....all on BF Goodrich KD's....

Funny thing....to you Supra kids out there...great cars(I had an'87),but without boost they're not too great...reliability? Yes,the Supra is great,as long as its built right,so is any Corvette,Mustang,Camaro,Firebird,you name it guys.....guys looking into buying a Supra should make sure the motor hasn't been through the usual crap associated with boost...you all know what they are guys....the fact remains the Corvette is legendary...whatever Supra has ever done,the Vette has been there already

Funny how the supra fanboys all say, "yeah, vette got whipped" even though the Vette won 2 out of 3 races. The 3rd race, it sounds like the Vette was trying to hold back slightly on the launch just to see if the supra could reel him in. That supra may have 100hp on top of the Vette's 500whp, but the Vette has a flatter torque curve that is instantly available (ie: No Lag). I guess the supra wasn't ready the first 2 races ("hold on. I need 5 more seconds to get my boost up to make any power").

the supra runs 10.1 @140mph, yes i use to own the car. first two races third gear was missed due to a busted scyncro. the car makes 817rwp on c16, that nit it running on 91 and street tires. tony is a great driver so complement to his street racing skills, et wise the z06 has no chance at the track.

lol. the vette gives up quick when he's up front but keeps going when he's loosing. lol. typical v8 quitters'.. a supra is built way more reliable and more durability compare to a vette. for dumb v8ters that didnt know, the supra only comes around 300hp range from factory yet capable of producing an additional 500hp on top of that without changing any internals and takes more than 25psi plus. put that in a v8 and your piece of shit is throwing something out the side.

Gearing will only get you so far... When you put lower gearing in a car, you're successfully shortening all your gears... So, you're sacrificing top speed for acceleration, so even if you do regear, the car with the higher power to weight ratio is 99% of the time, going to be faster.

@lt1snail yeah he quit when he had bus lengths on the supra. the only way the supra could keep up is be getting the honkoff and brake boosting the whole time during the honks. so yes a turbo car is gonna have alot better top end than a n/a car yet the vette still won all of those except one. try that race from a dig, lighter vette will win all day. supras are no more reliable than vettes. supras were running for as much as vettes when they were being sold but guess what is still being sold?

My RX8 has probably the highest hp/l output of ANY engine on the market today. Still only runs low 14's. Hp/l is one of the most useless measures of performance. If anything cars with good hp/l usually have shitty power-bands, which are the true measure of real world performance.

@m1brett If you watch the last race closely you can hear that the Z06 starts in a higher gear than the other runs, thus the Supra was able to keep up. It was a handicapped race, hardly a win. If the Z06 had started in the gear he normally launched in it would have been a repeat of the other races.

supra's are notorious for loss of traction. Even from a role with good tires they still loose traction. the first and second race it looked like either a loss of traction or he wasn't racing.. He didn't brake boost or anything. That zo6 looks pretty quick but it's hard to outrun a built supra on the highway with an all motor chevy. :)
