At GM, this is how we weld the plastic lens in the dashboard to the cluster, we use a high speed vibration "welder" that welds the Acrylic to the plastic.
@offspringmadboy yeah, I've seen it done at Boeing. They just stick the wing in a giant drill press and spin it on the side of the airplane to heat the joints. Their process is a little more complicated because they have to make sure the wing stops spinning facing the right direction, but otherwise it's identical.

I believe this is how Aircraft wings are welded together as there is no extra added weight needed to make the join.
