Both uprising were similiar. Ghetto uprising was in spring 1943. They fought because the nazis were going to clear the ghetto.

In 1994 I met a wonderful woman, Katarina who risked her life taking puppet shows through the sewers that connected to out posts of the Polish freedom fighters. I was reduced to tears by her story. She was so humble and matter of fact about somerhing so heroic. She was/is an artist and didn't know how to fight, but did what she could... bring hope and joy in the darkest hours. I have since found a single picture of her on a website. Does anyone know more about her? A true heroine....

I used to work with Russians from former Pribaltika. Silezia and Pomerania should be decolonised an got rid of poles and those lands should be returned to Russia(as legal succussor of USSR,which was major participant and winner in WW2 and has the right of ownership to all conquered german lands) and, in the very small part-to Western Allies.

OK Pommeranians were a bit different group, but to compair: contemporary are bigger diferences between ppl from north part and south part of my city, so there is no point in your writings. Half of our army was on east, but they get order to not fight with soviets, until thell start, just to move back to fight nazis. Sorry, only thing which i`v said is that soviets bacstabbed us in 17.09.1939 and this isn`t lie. Nothing other than bacstabbing. In ethnical sense on that terrains lived 40% Poles, in historical that terrains belonged to Crown or Grand Duchy in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, before partitions and then to Russian Empire.

I am Dutch, not German, I am from Holland. I respecte Polish history and culture, but not the criminal Potsdam annexations of eastern German provinces. Contemporary Poland is in borders of its orygin. Check in English, German Wikipedia (if You don't believe Polish version) "Drang nach Osten", "Ostsiedlung" "Germanisation". I'm wondering if the book "I Saw Poland Betrayed" regarded this. Joe Stalin did a deed as evil and treacherous as anything Hitler did. He told the Poles to rise up and throw the nazis out of Warsaw as his army was at the outskirts. Stalin conceived in his heart that he would annex and plunder Poland, Hungary, Rumania, Lithuania, etc. His people thought that they were going to push the Germans back to the frontier and stop.

Well all i want to underline is that those are to sepatatre events. Jewish uprising was a choice for those people to die with dignity, not with a shaved head , naked in a gas chameber. Warsaw upriing was very much different. They had military structutre, post, shops and venues ware open. Waraw was free for two months ! those to uprisings are often mistaken by "Westeners". They ware so much different ! both tragic though....

Both uprising were similiar. Ghetto uprising was in spring 1943. They fought because the nazis were going to clear the ghetto.
Warsaw uprising was more organized, but not different, other than there were more people involved. And warsaw was NOT free - unless you call starving to death in the blazing sun while avoiding stuku bombs free.

I had a chance to talk to few people who witnessed both Warsaw's and Getho uprising, including a proffesor of Warsaw's University - those two events cannot be compared. In 1994 I met a wonderful woman, Katarina who risked her life taking puppet shows through the sewers that connected to out posts of the Polish freedom fighters. I was reduced to tears by her story. She was so humble and matter of fact about somerhing so heroic. She was/is an artist and didn't know how to fight, but did what she could... bring hope and joy in the darkest hours. I have since found a single picture of her on a website. Does anyone know more about her? A true heroine....

I am not blaming you as a Pole, or your grandmother, for the expulsion and massacres against the eastern Germans in communist Poland, in Czech controlled areas, or in Soviet "Russian" Königsberg Oblast/northern East Prussia. But to me Germans are victims too. And yes, German children and women and elderly, and all who did not vote NSDAP, and did not kill Jews in camps and Poles in Warsaw, were innocent Germans, just fighting against Bolshevism.

I respect Poland and it's bravery. As a Frenchman, we have some Political as well as some cultural exchanges which brought our two nations together, often.
I realize how you feel about the "Russians"; but remember, they too were victims of this horrible communism, and their dastardly past has cursed them to this day. But many Russians are lovely people, and kind.

There is a lot of Rusophils in polish society. Russians are very simmilar to Polish, especially from Eastern Poland - borders didn't change too much. I used to work with Russians from former Pribaltika. They were serious, sad, but honesty, friendly and hospitable; it was so nice especially in comparison with west Europeans and theirs hypocritical "how are you - i'm fine" and "artificial smile" (i wrote it 2nd time for, i can't see previous one)

Górale, Ślazacy, Mazurzy, Wielkopolanie, Małopolanie, Mazowszanie, whole of them speak different dialects from literary language. It works in every country, in every nation. Compair Germany, differences there are much deeper: ppl from North speaking local dialect can't understand ppl from South, what it change? They aren't German? "Polish" is a mixture of local dialects, "Polish nation" is a mixture of different "tribes", there was no tribe called "Polish".

Silezia and Pomerania should be decolonised an got rid of poles and those lands should be returned to Russia(as legal succussor of USSR,which was major participant and winner in WW2 and has the right of ownership to all conquered german lands) and, in the very small part-to Western Allies.

Reich didn't fall on its own.The Soviets crushed it by the graetest part.And it was the Soviets who granted Silezia and Pomerania to poles.Now the Soviet regime is declared criminal in Poland so we can't rely on the decisions of the criminalregime.Therefore,the question of partiting of Poland in order to deprive it of the western territories which has been illegally occupied by poles,arises.

USA helped Soviets with the armors etc. No, role for you is just start to think about Katyń. It is ok for the begining. If you want to change territories owners, think about former east Poland. USSR was ill, bad and lost. It lasted fiew decades longer then Reich, but it has happend. USSR as a criminal had no rights, but debts for pay. Russia is a Soviet heir, but is to pathetic, complex-ridden coward to admit its guilt.

You proved nothing, you just wrote something. Polanie, Wiślanie, Mazowszanie, Ślężanie, Pomorzanie together were Polish. OK Pommeranians were a bit different group, but to compair: contemporary are bigger diferences between ppl from north part and south part of my city, so there is no point in your writings. Kashubian are descendants of Pommeranian. They say: "We are Kashubes, but we are Polish". Kaszuby are rich in Poland, so economical reasons of polish beings are off.

Yes, but thier goal was another when in 1939 bacstabbed us, breakeing three different treatys (nazis at least cancelled all before camed...).
Even if it wasn`t just altruistic i respect simple Rusian soldiers, unfortunatelly not thier rulers.
As to Warsaw Uprising, they could at least let to land Yank and Brit planes with supplies on "thier" land.

Half of our army was on east, but they get order to not fight with soviets, until thell start, just to move back to fight nazis. Sorry, only thing which i`v said is that soviets bacstabbed us in 17.09.1939 and this isn`t lie. Nothing other than bacstabbing. In ethnical sense on that terrains lived 40% Poles, in historical that terrains belonged to Crown or Grand Duchy in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, before partitions and then to Russian Empire.

Russians saved themselves from a similar fate, however, in summer 1941 they seemed to have hoped Germans would destroy communists' terror. If not for blindness and cruelty of III Reich leaders, this would be possible. Russians simply had no choice - it's hard to miss Poland on the way to Berlin from Russia. Former allies just quarrelled.

Gauleiter Albert Forster of Danzig-Western Prussia declared all Poles in his Gau to be 'Germans in essence', they were all saved from deportation. Sadly enough in Silesia and Pomerania the Germans were not treated as mildly as the Poles in 1940. The eastern Germans were all deported or murdered. What Soviets and sadly many Poles supported, was un-Christian, un-Catholic. Until Poland apologizes, their Catholicism will not be credible and real.

Sadly most of Poles from annexed terrains were deported to GG, 4mln sended to work camps in "reich", catched acidentally on streets innocent people. For every killed by resistance Germans nazis were catching and killing 100 civillians.
Resistance, gov on exile and most of people didn`t wanted to change borders or beeing moved THE SAME.

"Free" medical treatment, education, transportation. You should have better asked yourself, where the hidden price is. 40ys ago you had to pay for your flat, too, in advance, in monthly instalments. Estimated period of waiting was of 20 years. With a difference - this flat wouldn't be yours. You couldn't sell it or make a legacy.

Census'39 confirmed 10.087.000 German citizens. Amount of deported in '48 was 7.085.000. Amount of remainded in Poland: 835.000. There was 2.167.000 lost, so post-nazis revisors tried to prove they were killed by PL&USSR. In fact those people died becouse of Nazis Todesmarsch, suicides, natural death, as the Wehrmacht soldiers, cold, hunger, Soviet camps, anarchy (bandits).

I am Dutch, not German, I am from Holland. I respecte Polish history and culture, but not the criminal Potsdam annexations of eastern German provinces. Your version of history is a Polish-Communist concoction. You know nothing about Lamsdorf? About the massacres in Gleiwitz by the Civilians' Milice in 1946 against German-speaking males and boys? I know the Nazis did you Poles a lot of harm, but even Albert Forster was more humane towards Poles than Poland towards Germans after 1945!

Contemporary Poland is in borders of its orygin. Check in English, German Wikipedia (if You don't believe Polish version) "Drang nach Osten", "Ostsiedlung" "Germanisation". Don't try to shoot any Pole with the argue of Lambinowice (Your Lamsdorp) because this "gun" is rather leveled to Germans. Check Lambinowice. Yes, but German people went away, though they were still in move, and they were everywhere... in North Africa too. It doesn't change thought The Poland is in Borders of its orygin. Poland has grown up as a country of The Silesians, Pommeranians too - not only Polans. Most of medievial countres were found as the union of relative tribes. I supose 90% localities in Poland have polish names. How many names in East Germany has slavic orygin?

There were no big differences between Polish an Czech in those times, but Silesian dialect from Wroclaw area (is not existing anymore) had a charakteristic features for Polish lng, not for Czech.

Check wikipedia.Before poles seized the lands in question in 11 century,there had already been some slavic dukedoms in Pomerania and Silezia.Pomerania was owned by poles just for a couple of decades.After that germans conquered it.

It could be possible because there was no Poland yet. It was easy to get Lechits tribes under G.M. control. G.M collapsed, Poland appeared. In north Russia live Fin-like tribes. They have no country, but when Russia will collapse, they decide to find own country, or unite with Finland - they have moral right to do that. Just compair place names in Silesia, they have very characteristic feathers for Polish. eaven germanisation couldn't change it.

Which Balts in Silesia/Pomerania? There lived Slavs. Before Polish kingdom was created in Pomerania lived Wends (Slavs) and Silesia was part of Great Moravia, as well as Lesser Poland. Pomeranians/Silesians were only two of Slavic tribes close related to other Lechit (Polish). Czechs, Slovaks and Poles are west Slavs, verry close related each-other.
