Furminator suing anyone producing any sort of pet grooming device - Look up "A Pet Grooming Tool Unleashes a Dogfight of a Patent Battle" for a Wall Street Journal article about this - Hmmm, maybe I should try to patent a hair brush, or the wheel.
I had my doubts at first like many others. Believe it or not but this thing actually works. My Springer Spaniel was shedding fur all over the place and this helped immensely. I was worried that it may hurt the dog because of the sharp looking teeth but she loves it every time i used it. Get it from eBay though. You'll find it much cheaper there.
@roxy949 It's really not. I bought one and it works wonders. It's not painful at all. There are no blades or anything. I used to use those wire brushes and those things do seem painful. If you run it along your skin, the wire brushes hurt, but you can run a Furminator across your skin and nothing. No blades, nothing sharp, but it works amazingly well. Even less sharp than a regular haircomb.
I suppose the answer to that depends on the dog. We do our basset every couple of days and get half a waste paper bin. It really does cut down on the shedding like you wouldn't believe. Honestly, if you havent got one already, get one, you will be amazed. Tip, don't brush slow, no, it doesn't halm them but hair comes out a bit better if you do it at a brisk pace (Not stupidly fast).
@Fulou OK sounds like I have to buy one. You know it aint cheap, but it sounds value for money so I am going to buy one ASAP when I can. Thanks for your useful advise :)
No. It doesn't cut the hair at all. They're a little pricey $50-$60 but worth every penny. I've spent more than that on every other kind of brush and comb combined and they're in the garbage now. They have a specially weighted head so it's important not to put a lot of pressure on it while your combing the fur. It takes hardly any effort at all.
A furminator costs $60. I use an old mustache/beard trimmer that no longer works,...I just turn it over and rake the blade across the hair and oh boy does it take out the hair...its the blade that does it!
make a pillow out of it. :D

I can recommend these. We use one on our horses and our German Shepherd who absolutely loves it and it really cuts down on shedding in the house.
