  • Anybody here to answer my question why thyroid usually happens or most often than not happens to women. I had a female friend who died with thyroid cancer just last week and it happened so fast, only three weeks after she had a second operation.

  • @andrebonifacioferrer I am sorry I do not know the answer. If I hear I will let you know. Thus, I wanted to let you know that the CURE FOR the body to heal itself of CANCER has been FOUND... I will go to great lengths to share with you or anyone else my knowledge.

  • How did you discover it?! You're young person.

  • I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now & it's horrible because I'm getting a thyroidectomy on my 18th birthday next month. I also need my skull opened so the doctors can fix my Chiari Malformation that I have. I feel confused and scared and sooo many other emotions right now.

So thank you for posting this video. You literally made a huge weight life from my chest just from hearing you talk about it. Thank you for helping me stay strong and your positive attitude is very inspiring :)

  • You're the best. You put my mind at ease and when I go into the endocronologist next week I feel like I know a little bit better what is going on.

  • Hi! I dont know if you're still updating your videos about thyroidectomy..but amm, i'll be undergoing thyroidectomy two days from now. and i'm pretty scared. i'm a student nurse, though i have an idea about how things work inside the OR still. it's pretty shitty actually being the one who'll be operated. urgh,. anyway, just want to ask if the laryngeal nerve complications are common? i mean, how many weeks did it take you for you to speak again? and the scar? a week? huhu

  • thankyou for sharing your story. my mother was diagnosed with thyroid cancer yesterday and youve helped us stay strong and keep a positive attitude. stay strong and healthy

  • I wanted to thank you for sharing your experience,I found out in May 2010 biops was inconclusive.I've been scared ever since and you are very brave.I see there is a different way now the Da Vinci robotics no-scar.Kinda glad i waited yet hopefully i havent waited too long But i am having it removed the no scar way had to find someone closer to me with the robotic system wish me luck.

  • Thank you.

  • can i ask what hospita u got your surgey done ?

  • Hey we have matching scars! I got lucky they caught mine early and my surgeon took the whole thing out. Nodule whole thyroid and one lymph node.

  • I hope you are doing well now! I was discovered thyroid cancer 18 years ago, mine it was pretty bad as it had spread down to my chest. Good luck girl and don't worry, thinks get better! PS: your spirit is the right one :)

  • Thank you! :) I'm looking forward to my ice cream too.

  • I don't want to have any scars in my neck, I think Doctors need to find a better way to remove the thyroid like with stomach staple they don't leave a big scar on the tummies, but on the neck they go for it, big scars, yours look tiny in this video but I met a girl with a huge scar that is not fair, I am against it, they need a better way to do scars hmmmm I am having a biopsy tomorrow and if they say they got to remove it I'll say no!! until I find a dr. that would do it scarless!

  • Thank you so much for posting these videos! I have papillary thyroid cancer and I just had my thyroid removed last week. When I got back from the hospital I was really stressed out, your videos really helped me. It was so nice to see other people who understand what I'm going through. I've even decided to post my own videos of my experience so I can help other people and I just posted my first video yesterday. Thanks again, and I'm glad you are doing well now!

  • Thanks for sharing..I am having this surgery next week

  • I never thanked you for these series of videos. I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and I had to go to surgery. I was really affraid the week before and I saw your video at some point...It calmed me down quite a bit....so THANK YOU FOR DOING IT

  • My wife has had many nodules show up on her latest ultrasound and she is having a 2 day nuclear scan on this coming Mon. and Tues. I am so worried.....I love her so much. We have been together since high school. I am 35 y/o and we have already been married for 15 going on 16 years now. Please God let her be okay. I could not imagine being alone with our 2 baby girls.

  • @holymackerel013 I hope everything is going well with you and your family. Stay strong for your wife, she needs your strength. :)

  • i'm 15 have had a really 'fat' neck for years and i was always like what is this?? so i got my mum to take me to the doctors and i found out that i have an overeactive, elevated thyroid... i dont know much about it and i wont for another month cuz my apointment with the special thyroid doctor guy isn't for a month... so yeh. i dont think i have thyroid cancer... i dont even know if what i have has anything to do with it yet... but thanks for the video :)

  • @milk1416 hey, at least you got your neck checked. It never hurts to be safe about your body. :)

  • soon Im going to be getting a nodule and my thyroid taken out because of cancer cells being present, what type of recope time where you down and do you have to take any pills to regulate your balence

  • @heatherboo74 as far as surgery, it took a few weeks to recover. With medication, I have to take a thyroid supplement for the rest of my life. Has your thyroid been removed yet?

  • you are brave. i am very happy to see that you had posted this video that time when you just about to get one more surgery.

my cousin had an thyroid surgery 3 days ago. he is very nervous. he dont knwo that its a cancer but still he is nervous. but his relatives know about cancer and they are very very upset.

  • Thank you so much!! Your video just help me stop crying! Now i'm just waiting on the ice cream!

  • @snob215 ice cream makes it all better lol.

  • I wanted to thank you, I am dealing with the things now. They say I have thyroid cancer and they will remove it. Your videos really are helping me out! God Bless you!

  • @cghall30 i'm glad my videos are helping you. Have you had your thyroid removed yet?

  • @ooshkey yes, I had it removed on April 1st, thanks to your video. It wasn't as scarey as I thought it was going to be. I have a scar just like yours and a small scar on my chest from the drain. Now it's just them trying to regulate my synthroid medication. I have gained like 30lbs, but oh well...lol

Thank you for putting your videos up, this was very personal situation but you sharing it, sure did help me through mine! God Bless!

  • Hang in there Girl and dont mind that little scar....Most of the women in the world wish they were as Cute as you are. :)

  • @Ooloosoon I love my scar. I've noticed that it's a lot smaller than what I've seen other survivors have. I always like to make up stories about how I got it before revealing the truth lol.

  • When I was 13 I got my entire thyroid removed and then after found out it was cancer but I just remember NOT crying at all which is soooo weird to think about now

  • Hi..so im not alone!..im a thyroid survivor too..i had my whole thyroid gland removed..i also had 3 treatments of radiation & 2 surgerys..i was diagnoised when i was 16 i am now 22 and a mother to a little 2 year old boy..ur so lucky ur scar is little ..i love ur video xx

  • Hi,

my name is stephanie and I am a thyroid cancer survivor as well, i have had 2 surgery's and have had 2 treatments of radiation! I totally can relate about the whole ribbon thing i was super happy when i found out it was PURPLE, ya it is one of my favorite color ha!

  • Thank you. Your video is the first to put my fears at ease. My favorite color is purple too!!! I am scheduled for removal of half of my thyroid but the worry of actually having cancer is driving me nuts. Thanks again. :)

  • i am so proud of u.. you are really someone who people can look up to. and i do.. I found out my boyfriend's mom has thyroid cancer and i know its not direct impact but i feel like it is.. so im going to be strong for my boo and help him through the tough times. Thank you for being an inspiration.

  • Thank you so much for you words of encouragement, they have really put me at ease and given me a sense of hope. I found out today that I had a cancerous nodule that will need the entire thyroid removed, and similar to you, I've been crying all day. I only told my fiancee the news and I am seriously debating telling my parents. I simply don't want to worry them since they have a lot of worries of their own. How did you go about revealing your news with your family? How were their reactions?

  • I was pretty straight forward with my family. I guess there's no way to sugarcoat cancer, lol. They were scared but very supportive. Although my parents were miles away, they were always there to help me out. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

  • Thank you so much for spreading the awareness of thyroid cancer. I had to watch my grandma go through it. And it just broke my heart into a million pieces. Unfortunately her cancer was in the advance stages. She lived through the first surgery ( the tumor was so big it wrapped itself around her major arteries and her windpipe ). But shortly afterwards, she passed away. None of us noticed it, but right before she passed away. The cancer came back. By then it was way to late to do another surgery

  • My E.N.T. found a nogil today so I have been doing a lot of research and like you,one of the first things I did was to find out what color the ribbon is. lol. Like you said, it's kinda cinical to look that up right away, but yeah. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

  • its good to know there are other people going through the same as i am. after a needle biopsy saying my lump wasnt cancerous, I had to have the left side of my thyroid removed as the lump kept growing. found out 2 weeks later i had another nodule which WAS cancerous so had an operation 3 weeks after the first to remove the right side. that was in october 2008 and still have blood tests every 3 months to ensure the cancer isnt back. so far all is well except for the tiredness, i wish u all luck

  • Thanks for posting. I have just had a thyroidectomy on left side last week. I ahve to wait 6 weeks before I see the consultant about the result of my biopsy. So i am worried. Like you I also had a afine needle biospy in which was negative. But recently the goitre got bigger and affected my breathing. So it had to come out. Then i though of the biospy what if I have cancer. So i really appreciatethis video

    thanks

  • Thanks for sharing

  • What were you symptoms? Just usual thyroid problems that makes a person wonder if they have a thyroid disease?

  • i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer too like 2 years ago.. im 18 too and still living strong.

  • ...I'm 16 and just had surgery. I got my whole thyroid taken out though; the tumor was too big and already spread to lymph nodes.

I've been reading that thyroid cancer patients have a high risk for getting a different cancer later and I'm freaking out! Is anything going on with your body now that it's been two years?

  • survivor here. 2/8/2000 they went in to do a thyroglossal duct cyst trunk proceedure and ended up doing that and a lobectomy, and there was a mass covering it, the mass turned out to be malignant. RAI and 2 weeks alone cuz its radiation. 9 years cancer free here, hang in there. purple butterfly logo...thyroid cancer surviors...both rare. thats why they chose it.

  • My 17 yr. old niece was diagnosed w/thyroid cancer yesterday. Her surgery is Wed. I'll have her watch this video. Thanks!

  • I lived your story Thanks for you video

  • hey im a survivor of fallicular and insular thyroid cancer :). my nane is su im 19 i got it when i was 17 and i already had 3 surgerys my scars are really thin and i take pills once a day and its called lyvothyroxine. its crazy because i had insular cancer the 3rd time and it was in my lymph nodes i wasnt really scared the first time because i know god is always there for me but its cool to knwo that there are alot of people there just like me :). im glad your doing well and you doing well :).

  • You share the EXACT same story as I do except I've taken out my right side first and in February I've got to take out my left side. Thanks for sharing...

  • Hello: Many thanks for the videos. Just found out I have cancer as well. One lump on right side but they are removing the whole thyroid plus front lymph nodes. Didn't know if you had those removed as well. Unfortunately its two days before Thanksgiving. Would you please let me know how tough the first few days after surgery were. Thanks and hope youare doing GREAT!!

  • Went through this 3 yrs ago at 33. The first couple days after surgery were a bit tough - pain pills, swollen neck, etc. I slept in a recliner at my dad's because it was too difficult to lay back flat. I also wore long socks on my hands so that I wouldn't scratch at the staples in my neck while asleep. My scar is barely visible now. Good thing they are taking entire thyroid out so they don't have to go back in which is so often the case. I feel great now! Pregnant. Life goes on.

  • OMG! That is great! I have just been diagnosed with hyper/Graves and have gone through all the emotions. RAI Uptake this week and then I'll know more. I am devastated; my husband and I were just getting ready to start trying for baby #1. Now, that part of my life is on hold.

Did you have any problems getting pregnant or during the pregnancy?

    Thanks!

  • Funny that you ask about pregnancy. My husband and I were trying for our first child as well when we got the news about my cancer. I'm waiting for my year of doing RAI to try again, which won't be until Oct. 2009. Good luck!

  • Same exact sanero. OBGYN found the nodule, inconclusive ultra sound and biopsy, removed nodule and right side of tyhroid on june 20th, came back possitive. Dr. called 4:30 fri gave me the news over the phone. spent the entire weekend tore up over it: and how he handled it. schedualed the second surgery for the next day,1st of July. the extra day in the hosp. is for calcum levels that the para thyroid does.I have not done the radition iodine yet.please keep us posted on how you are doing.

  • i'm waiting to get my results to see if the nodule on my thyroid is cancerous, they should call me tomorrow, i am extremely scared. after watching your video you gave me strength, thank you for that. also, if you dont mind, how old were you when you found out about your cancer? i am only 20 years old.

    thank you for your strength

    Jamie

  • You're welcome. I made this video in hopes of helping other people. I was 25 when I got the news about cancer. I'm 26 now so I'm not that far away from it all.

  • ooshkey...keep up the fight, I am a thyroid cancer survivor and I wish You a Full recovery. I know It can be overwhelming and scary but you Will Kick this thing! Try and not get too upset with what friends and family say they mean well and are just concerned for you. You are strong...I would go into this Cancer a*s kicking mode and it made me more powerful..you will be afraid that is normal. But I promise you will find the strength, I can see it already!

    God bless you!

  • glad i saw this. ive had thyroid problems for

about 2-3 years. i start scans monday. my neck has been swollend for a few months.

i have my fingers crossed. ty for sharing!

  • Five Stars!!!!

  • ur a wonderful person i love the way u think ( positivly ) wish u get better and better and better

  • Oh and can I just say somethin about the radioactive Iodine pill thing? well my mom said that she like glew in the dark creepy man right?

  • Well, I was practically a reck, I would totally freak out at school, and my teachers were just like you need to stop, and let it go and let things happen. Especially the day my mom got surgery I could barely handle being at school I just sat there at school wanting to cry, but hey I'm just glad that so far after almost 2 yrs my mom is doing just fine.

  • i had a lump on my right thyroid i had it removed but when the dr removed it he also paraylized my vocal cord so i have trouble talking and breathing.well the results came in and it was cancer so i have to have the left side removed but due to my vocal cord being paraylized he cant remove left side cuz if he damages the left vocal cord then i will have to have a trachetomy so i am stuck in a rut right now. just waiting to see if my vocal cord will heal. meanwhile im hoping the cancer wont spread

  • Oh my, I am so sorry that you are going through that. Is it possible for you to do the radiation treatment without a second surgery? Is there really nothing the doctor can do for you? Either way, good luck and keep me posted. I would really like to know your outcome. We cancer survivors have to stick together. :-)

  • Thanks for sharing your story! I just had my right side removed and am waiting for the results. Not sure the outcome but waiting anxiously to hear what's the haps. I wrote a ton of stuff on your first vid so check there too. You rock. Thanks for making all of us out here who are going through the same thing feel a not so alone. =) Keep bloggin' girl!

  • Thanks for watching. Good luck!

  • Results came back and it's cancer so off I go to the OR for left side removal. Gotta tell ya, I feel pretty dumb I just didn't have the whole thing removed the first time out but seems we're all having this same conversation. Way bad to hear Tissgarza's news. But prayesr all around. As you said, we survivors need to stick together. New op date is 8/27. Then it's on to the radioactive iodine. Keeping positive but no more taking chances. Know what I mean? And how are you these days?

  • my mom had thyroid cancer when I was in 6th grade, and so I sort of know what you are going through because it was like a year process, and now she is doing fine, but for the next ten yrs they will just keep an eye on it to make sure nothin bad happens. Oh but i didn't know the ribbon color was purple just like you said, sweetness, I luv purple as well!

  • If it had been my mother, I think I would have lost it. My mom does wish it were her instead of me but it is what it is. Thanks for watching.

  • This is exactly what I'm going through. Just had surgery last week to remove the left side of my thyroid, turns out I have thyroid cancer so I'll be going in for a 2nd surgery and I treatment of radiation. Thanks for sharing, It's nice to know other people's experiences.

  • You're welcome. I figured it'd help to talk about what I'm going through in hopes to help others. Good luck to you.

  • i'm sooo sorry you had to go through the surgery again! i had papillary thyroid cancer last year. and they first removed the right side (nodule was on the right), then i had a 2nd surgery 3 weeks later to remove the entire thing. i feel your pain hun! i'll read your update and hopefully the cancer is gone!

  • I'm sorry to hear you had to go through the same thing. It really sucks, for real. I have one more step to do and hopefully, the cancer will be gone.

  • Glad you have the right outlook on the situation.

  • It's the only thing I can do to get me through the day.
