I had that problem with all expasons. All I did was let the cd settle and make sure the icon shows in my computer and it worked.

Gahhh! I have a CD Drive! I have sims 2 double deluxe! Sadly I can't get Sims 2 University to install!!! It says in the manual thingymajig "Please do NOT install sims 2 university in the same location in sims 2" I'm like okay.. *Puts sims 2 double..  deluxe in* then suddenly the CD freaking drive won't WORK!!!! I also has a vista basic :/

yea im so mad cause i wanted to get the sims 2 life stories and i spent HOURS trying to figure it out, and i had to keep replacing it, until i called tech support and they said that i have a CD drive and i needed a DVD drive..why would maxis do that?!? i was so mad.

I have a similar problem with Sims2 double deluxe...it was given to me for a bday pressie and it has never worked...i used to get red walls and funny coloured pools. I then (i think) i found a solution and went to install the game again but it stops at 70% all the time i am soooo annoyed...cananyone help me?? x

Dam it... I really want the myne door... mine's a bit weird it sorta works, but everything is invisible. All the items from there are 'No Pic' and then when I try playing the university pack it doesn't have the default cities and it freezes if I try playing. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME.

YEHHH!!!! It's soo confusing because I hate it, and my friends all tell me how they really like University and hows it's one of the funner expansions... And see I have a DVD/CD disk player and I cant install university on my other comp that has a CD disk player because then I wont be able to download the base game(sims 2)

i just got sims2 university today and i already had sims2 double delux so i installed it and its on my computer but everytime i click on the game it starts loading then it dosent show the game also i have a dvd drive someone please help

the sims 2 university is for CD drives only, therfore its not going to work! sorry =[ but to double check look at the top left of the case and if it says PCCD then your out of luck..but if it says PCDVD then call tech support. or do you have the right system requirements?

on mine it won't install at all..i have a dvd/cd drive. i've installed the game before, but my computer crashed now it won't install. it imports CDs fine. the double deluxe has a scratch on it, think that might be the problem?

everyone who has this problem, you dont need to buy a CD disk. All you have to do is clean the disk. My game didn't work for months and months and i didn't know why, but just about an hour ago i cleaned it and it works.

Im so happy now :D

if you have this problem you should clean the CD because it is possible that the CD is dirty or there are scratches on!

you can tell if its a dvd drive because the disk drive will say DVD on it or go into My Computer and see if it says DVD drive or CD drive :)

Have you got a dvd drive or a cd-rom drive?? And is the game on a cd-rom or dvd (it says at the top of the game box)?

do you have downloads in the game?

take the downloads and put them on the destkop and try again to start your game !

, i had all three installed on my old laptop but now it wont work, all the cds are 'proper' im using my friends version of sims 2 caz i lost mine and when i play isims 2 (before i used nightlife) it came up with 'this program has known compatibility issues' check online to see if souloutions.. etc.. program: sims 2 Publisher.. etc.. The sims 2 has a known compatibility issues with this version on windows. Can anyone help??

If i click retry it comes up again if i click cancel it quits, i have sims 2 installed and it didnt work so i installed nightlife and tryed again and it came up again,

well I bought the Sims 2 Deluxe last june :p but it still not workin :/ when i download an expansion pack , they say : please insert the CD/DVD ...its drivin me mad !

well what I did was look around ebay and that too get a cd-rom drive and I found one for around £10 (british pounds) and it installed fine usin tht :)

I found out what was causing the problem!

It is because the sims 2 university disk was a cd-rom (cd-r) and my computer only accepted dvd+/- r/rw disks. I bought a drive that accepted cd-r disks and it installs fine now.

So if other people are having this problem, try and get a cd-r drive (got mine of ebay) and try it then.

It may be an issue with your video card...

When I first tried to instal the Sims 2, it didn't work until we updated the card (you can buy them on ebay) Then it's a go! =]

I have the same problem, sims company sold me corrupted cds, i spend about 160 euro but i can't just install the simple sims 2 because of the same problem, i think you need to change the language to english, it might work...

u should call the sims2 company like i did they helped me install university when i was having trouble here is the number and no im not pranking u or giving u someone's real number (650)628-4329 and if u don't belive me check your sims2 booklet in the back and it says that number

I had that same error message with my Sims 2 Seasons CD. Odds are, your CD is damaged. Try to clean it off first, but if that fails, go back to the store you bought it from and get a new disk. That is what I did and it works well now. Good Luck! Message me if you need more help.

Ok, you can even see my videos for evidense and for some stupid reason, the sims 2 was working slow and it usually works pretty fast, so for another stupid reason i uninstalled it, then reinstalling it it usually stops at 62%. I don't know what to do, there are a few scratches on it, but how do you get rid of scratches...if thats the case? Help!

it has to do with your CD i bought the sims 2 and lost a CD the first one so i bought it again and the whenever it came to using the second CD it wudnt work so i had to use the second CD from the old pack
