  • Great film, no mention of Von Braun (but i think his character is included as the 'professor') and again the exploding finale was fictitious as it had to be because in 1965 you couldn't mention 'Operation Paperclip' which would of made a very sour stink indeed...the UK got some V2's, Russia and the US got the lions share of the tech... and the brains behind them, what happens if you loose a V2 in the deserts of New Mexico? say it was a 'saucer crash' :) ufology is based on a monstrous myth.

  • @ostmusicmix Is that Tom Courtenay the one with the glasses on?

  • beau film

  • Yet another Ron Goodwin classic! getronknighted at hot mail dot co dot uk. Ron Goodwin and for example Gerry Anderson are Brits who have never been acknowleded for their skills. There are others too! The guy why cracked the enigma code! Why can we not as a nation award these people?

  • This is a terrific film with an astonishing cast...all turning in excellent performances. Thanks for posting

  • This films never been released on UK DVD still....

  • Austrian actor Paul Henreid (Victor Laszlo of Casablanca), appears as a German general in the beginning of the movie. Ironic, from patriot to Nazi, thanks to acting.

  • From 2:00 to the end

It sounds more frightening than the Jaws theme.

  • great movie......"SWITCH ON #9!!!" The late George Peppard, enjoyed his acting, THE BLUE MAX, THE CARPETBAGGERS, MURPHY'S Law (TV), Banacek (TV), and of course, the A-TEAM. I'll miss 'em. Too bad he had a drinking problem.

  • We have been given permission to apply to have Ron Goodwin belately knighted for his services to cinema music. If you would like to support us please contact me as YT are not allowing my email link to be published.

  • @lincsposter Definitely. Goodwin was a very fine composer and I had the pleasure of attending two of his concerts with the RTE Symphony Orchestra in Dublin in the 1980's. Goodwin had a great sense of humour too.

  • @Numinous20111 I have sent a person messge to you! Thanks! I received an email from Ron before he doed when he explained to my how the budget affected his compositions. He mentioned the Miss Marple films and Where Eagles Dare. Regards!
