It's funny that the greatest band ever would have a league of teeny bopper fans. Nowadays, it's so unappealing when a band or singer has teeny bopper fans. Ie Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers. The Beatles just appealed to such a wide range of people and stereotypes.
at 6:49 it looks like the blonde girl in front of the camera is on a cell phone of some sort. anyone who was of age during the 60s have any idea what that is that shes holding to her head the size of an iphone? weird...
@b0st0nseltic I think it may have been a camera and she was holding it up to her ear to listen for the rewinding of the film at the end of the roll. At least, that is my guess. I think I was about 9 years old at the time, and all I had was a box Kodak Brownie and you had to hand-wind the film. Check out the camera at 3:06. The flash on my Browning was even bigger than that. Very bulky and stinky after the flash and you had to pop out the used bulb and put in a new one for each photo.
Music totally died out after the 70's was over. Everyone started Lip Synching and forgot how to play instruments. I wish I grew up in the 50's and 60's so bad....
Seeing as I'm surrounded by Beatles fans new and old then, let me ask this question of you all; it's one i've often wondered about:
What do you believe to be the key reason(s) for the Beatles (obviously) legendary and unrivaled success? Style of music? Right place, right time? Catchy, easy to remember songs? Luck?
I don't really think it's "right place, right time" much at all.
For that to be the case, popular music/cuture would've had to have already been going on the track the Beatles were, and they just were the poster boys (See: Jonas Brothers today as the product of the modern, Disney-tween market... not really making the system that way, but riding it.)
The weren't simply in the moment- they WERE the moment, they WERE that generation, not simply products MADE FOR that generation.
i wish people would stop trying to cover beatles songs really they just cant do it like they can im a fan of all music for example thats like lil wayne trying to cover a 2pac song lol if you even know who those people are but rock on peace ;-)
i disagree, playing beatles music is fun, and music is meant to be recreated and enjoyed as much as possible. it just so happens that the beatles were immensely popular, so more people tend to cover their songs, and so you get a lot of untalented people as well... but nobody says you gotta watch them butcher the songs
Right place, right time, the ability to be innovative and to transform yourself, the way their music and melodies were able have such an universal appeal.
In the earlier times? They represented what the world was waiting for, energy and youth.
And if you doubt the musical quality part, just listen to every album from Rubber Soul on, and remember the times they were in, and what was going on in that time, and realise how simple it sounds NOW because virtually everyone´s been influenced by it.
nice question. i think its there harmony. and i like the way that they all sing and each of them have unique voices. george was one of the best to me.
i would say they brought something new to the table..plus these guys were way ahead of there time..a new sound was introduced to the world of rock an roll heck they created it im only a young buck still learning the whole music scheme but you gotta give it to the beatles man john was getting involed with the people in his older yrs they gave people what they wanted to hear give peace a chance imagine who cant like those songs in my life just great music ;-)
i agree that lennon was a great writer, but truly, if you want to know the greatest, i would have to put bob dylan higher than john, if not along side of him. it was dylan who influenced lennon to write deeper more meaningful lyrics. before then, he just wrote pop songs. and it was lennon who influenced dylan to plug in and go electric who before they met was only in the realm of the acoustic folkie. the two really influenced each other to venture into new territories.
true good points..but man we gotta give peace a chance we need the masses together like they were then that was insane if no 1 has seen the us vs john lennon go check it out on google vid ;)
Yes, while the jonas brothers are popular (I say popular not good), but they have not effected the world like the beatle have and there is no "Jonasmania"
The thing is the Beatles were popular with everyone young, old, girls, boys didn't matter. The jonas brothers are really only popular with girls as most of the "boy bands". The Beatles were the band not a boy band.

First person to dare suggest the Jonas Boys are the "new" Beatles shall be chained to their laptop and forced to watch this series.
The Beatles are the ONLY band to... I can't even say "transcend music" or "define an era" it doesn't do it justice.
The Beatles are the only band to be the Beatles- that's the highest possible praise, and the truth.
