  • Prima! Kein Wunder, dass man sich in Zeiten wie diesen, wieder an das Meisterwerk von Phill Glass erinnert. Danke!

  • awesome

  • minimalyst

  • Does anyone of you know the kind of GENRE this song is???

  • @SlapTabs minimalism in classic.

  • I love how gothic and dark this song is. It's so emotional.

  • Now I know where Rorshack gets his mask design from.

  • Scrubs, seriously? Heard this first in 1982.

  • @zeitgeist1958 Congratulations, I heard this in 2011. Badge?

  • #jortalus, yees it is the same music score during Dr. Manhattan's monologue.

  • Fkng Humans we are destroying this beatiful world like idiots.....

Waiting for the third WW and then we all gonna....you know

  • Epic!

  • Scrubs has brought me to so much good music. I love the series. :|

  • Hey i just looked for "Scrubs evil-looking song" and i am here now!

  • Scrubs? I am hear because i first heard this song on the radio whilst driving over the English Pennines in Pitch Black fog and rain and it scared the living snot outta me :D

  • *EVIL STARE* Oh, fellahs, I'm trying to give somebody the evil eye over there, would you mind breaking it up? Thanks, appreciate it - *EVIL STARE*

  • for me this soundtrack is really emotional.

  • Thumbs up who's here because of scrubs ;D

  • Is this the song that plays during Dr. Manhattan's monologue in Watchmen? Because it definitely sounds the same. And if it is, that's awesome.

  • @jortalus yea i guess its!!

  • I found this diffucult to mastrubate to.. :/

*fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap*

  • A very slow, and relaxing yet deep feeling song, one could just go into a trance and look deep within one's self.

  • My neighbors are going to get use to this song.

  • @FinalLaugh87 useit? what for?

  • @wisper42

b/c im going to play this song loud as fuck

  • @wisper42 I do believe he means "get useD to this song" as in he'll play it a lot at loud volume and the neighbors will hear...

  • Ponies led me here......

  • @shea500 Same.

    Hel, ponies can lead anywhere.

  • i didnt know that bremen has such butiful clouds ^^

  • Koyannisqatsi is Hopi for Life out of balance

  • Love the Qatsi trilogy! Good selection

  • Your videos compliment this well. The first time I saw "Koyaanisqatsi", at a little cinema in Manhattan, I felt like I had witnessed some sort of religious ritual.

  • Oh please "this music played in scrubs" you need to get out more and the real genius here is the director / producer Godfrey Reggio's vision. This sensory pleasure is the best of the 3 movies Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi having lost some of the power by the time they made due in part by the commercial companies ripping off the style to "sell" products ironic really.

  • felt light headed watching it sober

  • Probably just adding more to evident human destruction: A bug splats on the upper right part of the helicopter windshield right around 5:52. I feel our very existence is reflected in that unfortunate insect!

Thank you for this video wisper42. I am humbled.

  • I am moved to tears by this music. Phillip Glass is a genius.

  • What is so sad is, that life is even more out of balance in our world than it was in 1983

  • Beautiful. Try watching this while tripping on LSD.

  • @wisper42 I absolutely love the movie & soundtrack,..Do have any idea what language the chorus is singing in?? I know the word "Koyannisqatsi" is Hopi language.

  • @sunflowernoo I don't know. Maybe all lyrics is Hopi language

  • @wisper42 Correct...it is Hopi...check Wikipedia for the meaning. "

  • @wisper42 THANK YOU for this magnificent music and fabulous video!!!! I love Philip Glass!

  • @wisper42 all lyrics are hopi. definition of the chorus is:

"If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster."

"Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky."

"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans."

  • @sunflowernoo Sounds like Latin to me.

  • @sunflowernoo Yes, it is three different variations of a Hopi prophecy.

  • this song played in scrubs :D

  • ♪♫♥ !

  • 33 dislikes had no ears and no eyes

  • @DrowSpiderking

and no hearts and no souls

  • `Wonder what the lyrics are about :o

  • its a great song but this is the watchmen version the original is a lot less clean and is more gritty

  • @PAPERSCHOOL

No it is not. The sound is from the original Koyaanisqatsi DVD. Maybe th DVD is digitally remastered.

  • @wisper42 im seriosuly not looking for a fight and the video is awesome but could you tell me where you got the song from

  • @PAPERSCHOOL

it is as I told you before

  • @wisper42 oh sorry i meant to say where did you download the song, also i retract my comment as i was wrong and a noob. soz

  • Lyrics: Koyaanisqatsi

  • it's sorta annoying how people come to Koyaaniqatsi and don't talk about anything besides godamn scrubs. we get it. the director or whatever used a truly beautiful piece in a moment of intensity. now shut up about it. I'm glad you found your way to Philip Glass, but nobody cares. honest. NO ONE cares.

  • @only2comment98 Since most of the people comment about it, I would assume most of them care ;)

  • after these images and this music, you begin to see things under a different perspective. but not if with an open mind

  • Don't abuse the powerful mirror :P

  • Comment removed

  • it's almost like a psychedelic experience :)

  • Good job. Lock and load!

  • jUSt PER*FecT ... ThanK * YOU *

  • @flyingnymphea88

    thank you!

  • Questo Philip Glass, illuminato dal suo genio.Con la sua visione musicale mi ispira onniscenza

  • 6:47.. creepy face :O

  • @joetri10

hey eagle eye? You are the first one who found it!

    :-)

  • That is an amazing rendition. I really like the mirror effects. Also, Peter Gabriel's eye is always nice to have in a piece. I am a big fan of Peter and now Philip for his amazing music. I hope you had as much fun making this as I did watching it.

  • @jeffersonvlog

thank you! It was fun very much to collect the beautiful nature images and arange them in that way.

  • Que maravilha. Vi esse filme no cimema há 30 anos, pelo menos, e nunca esqueci. Mais de uma hora só de imagens e música, aliás, música do Philip Glass. A maioria das pessoas achava o filme chato. Eu ficava vidrado nele.

  • Very nicely done indeed. The thing I like most about this interpretation is that people are still taken by Reggio's film some 30 years after its release. And that an important message hasn't been lost to deaf ears and blind eyes. I suspect 'wisper42' may have the potential to breathe new life into a celebrated favorite.

  • @supersteevo1000

    thank you very much

  • Glass is a genius.

  • обалдеть!!!!!

  • ...whoa. O.o

  • I thought my screen began to fall when the video starts spinning

  • Remember this Music from the Movie Watchmen when is explained how the blue dude was created^^

  • dude Glass did the music for Koyannasqatsi? I NEVER KNEW THAT!

  • Perfect.

  • awesome

  • Wisper42: I'd say you've made an epic contribution to the enjoyment of Koyaanisqatsi.

  • 2:54 - 3:27 epic as hell.

  • thnk this music has a control over my bowls....... relaxes the sphinster......

  • Nice work

  • SCRUUUUUUBS:D

  • i just love time lapses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No words for such perfect deed...

  • No words for such perfect deed...

  • really Amazing.

  • this is freakin creepy...

  • 4:50 <3

  • Beautiful video. Thank you very much. I love the music from Philip Glass. Awfully nice to find it here in such a fine form.

  • yeah agree with outlands the mirror images are awesome!

  • it always says "Go Upgrade" on my screen and when i click on it my internet goes down... this is one of my favorite songs too! :_(

  • @45films yea it was, its where i heard this song from on that movie..

  • was this in the film the Watch Men with doctor manhattan

  • @x45films don't think so...

  • @Orlymusicboy yep it is. it's not koyaanisqatsi, but it's prophecies WITH koyaanisqatsi.

  • EPIC

  • Really, really nice!! Thanks for both film and music!

  • Koyaanisqatsi is from Hopi language, which is spoken in Arizona by Hopi, a nativa America people. It means "life out of balance" or "a state of life that calls for another way of living"

  • It's a Hopi word for "life in turmoil."

  • @XxEbonyAndIvoryxX it's Hopi for "crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living"

  • The most beautiful.

  • Впечатляет!

  • you did this vid very good, 5*

    well done :D

  • @ulurugupu0

it's too christian poop for me

  • lmao this song is the best...the part in scrubs when the janitor is giving carla the staredown...epic

  • not Carla but JD)

    That moment was so epic!

  • @IbrownrussianbearI

once for carla and once for jd

    epic

  • @IbrownrussianbearI Actually it happens to Carla some episodes after.

  • i got the chills from that, wow, im really inspired to do something to my artwork in that style, thank you :)

  • wow this is really creepy

sound like the music from hell :0

    :P its really nice though

  • This is what i hear at night when every thing is dark and my paranoia gets the best of me.

  • this song is awesome but for some reason...i wanna join a cult now xD

  • I laughed hard ... ;-)

  • I find the way the editing jumps the way it does very out of character with the music. and yes do stop playing with the video FX please. try some gentle transitions such as cross fades so the film flows with the music.

  • some nice stuff in there, although i would try and learn not to play with the effects in your edit software. Is there any narrative at play here?

  • very nice music

    i love it

  • AWESOME MUCIC and AWESOME NATURE :)

  • @DarkElfFemale

Nature? I see buildings, and an ugly city :/

  • @jemoederheefteen

So what do you hate in cities? Yes there are buildings, but there are the nature without buildings :D

  • @DarkElfFemale

I hate buildings for one, and cars and such things that screw nature, you get the idea, it really makes me sick when someone looks over a big city seeing all the buildings from afar and saying: "What a nice view."

Really makes me want to snap their neck :/

  • But, aren't cities and vehicles simply pieces of nature that we've rearranged?

  • Hell no, trees, plants, animals that's nature, cars, buildings, cities and in my opinion humans are far from nature these days, the difference is, animals kill and hunt for survival, humans kill for profit and greed, that's far from nature, we became even worse then animals, we've became slaves to useless things made out of paper and ink, who's the real animal here?

  • @jemoederheefteen We came from nature. Is an ant hill nature? A wasp nest? A beaver dam? Then so are cities.

  • If you have god in your name I assume you are catholic, which I say you fail because catholics say god create dus, not nature, besides that, we are no longer nature, we became nature's biggest failure, so yeah ant hills and beaver dams are nature, but our foul cities and other "creations" aren't because they do nothing else but comfort us, and that has nothing to do with nature at all.

  • @jemoederheefteen Actually, my name was stolen directly from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and I'm not catholic, and it's not wise to simply insult people on the internet unless you're actually hoping for a flame war. But anyway, why are we no longer nature?

  • Because animals make these things to survive and keep in cycles of nature, take example trees and birds, things one of them create get eaten by the other one, and the other grows because of it, that's a cycle, I don't see anyone surviving thanks to a car or anything growing from it, none the less, it rapes nature, destroying anything natural and any natural reason to be there, and if you see this as nature, you are no longer part of nature at all I think.

  • @jemoederheefteen really? beaver dams do something besides comfort beavers by intention?

Every animal born of nature tries nothing more then to align it's environment to it's own comfort, however, most of them are so limited in depth of action that as soon as their situation allows their population to boom they face a new limitation that prevents future expansion. Every time we are thrown a roadblock we out think it, and are never hindered. I would call that nature's greatest triumph.

  • Maybe fundamentalists believe that god created us. Don't talk about people you don't know. Those, who are bible bashers, are the people you see in newspapers and TV, so you might believe that's everyone's opinion in catholic church.

God is rather the origin of all and the force in every sign of life. Of course we are free to say no to him and destroy all the beautiful treasures of life. It's our decision.

  • I'm sorry but as far as any christian and the bible told me, they believe god made us, you know, humans.

And not only americans are christian ;)

  • Well, almost...

  • Better than any dream I've ever had.

  • Awesome !!

  • Exciting!

  • koyaanisqatsi = kopenhagen = life out of balance

  • This is an exquisite interpretation of Koyaanisqtsi, your use of mirror-image clips was breathtaking. I'd love to see what you could do with the entire piece.....1hour 7 minutes?

    Beautiful!

  • thank you

  • świetnie!!! great!!!

  • I was looking for this piece for almost two weeks. I absolutely felt in love with it from the moment I heard it on the radio. Somehow things converged to the same point, because I was looking both for Esswood and for Glass so I found first Akhnaten and now Koyaanisqatsi. Beautiful !

  • I remember this from Dr.Manhattans story in the Watchmen movie. I know it is originally from Koyaanisqatsi but i thought it fitted nicely for that use aswell. Made the whole thing more epic. :D

  • the mirroring of the mountains is really a cool idea and effect!

  • Lol 5:02 Scrubs Janitor Scene

  • What Janitor scene.....

  • That part is used in the show scrubs, when the janitor gives the evil eye to JD. You know what scrubs is, do you?

  • Yeah i know what it is...its one of my favourite shows! I just didnt see -any- eye at 5:02

  • very very cool :]

  • @666tinka to bad you won't hear it!!

  • ich finde das ganze wirkt so berauscht und als wär man ganz wo anderst..

  • no it was first used in the "koyaanisqatsi" film

  • this is pretty gothic

  • Thinkin' of a funeral. Poor fella.

  • Excellent!

  • Amazing

  • just awesome!

  • i first watched this DVD and heard phillip glass for the first time, right in the middle of a magic mushroom party, i never looked back since, thank you mr glass, your a musical genius
