@DrMelissaWest Hi, if you do yoga 5 days a week, is that enough exercise for your body? I had an issue with my intestines...I'm vata. And I had things in there that made the transportation of food very difficult, so I went on being hungry for 6 years and my body, color, hair, skin (got dark) shanged. This is because doctors negleced what I tried to convey to them. I have come to the point where I no longer want to do gym, however my body really needs movement. Ayurveda really helps!
@flower1921 you should check with your ayurvedic consultant, but from what I understand of all the doshas, vattas don't need that much exercise, they need more grounding and less movement ... listen to your own body and respond to it's own needs. Sounds like you need to pay particular attention to your digestive system... so focus on yoga postures that encourage good digestion like twists. Stay informed with your ayurvedic consultant about your health and make informed decisions.
@DrMelissaWest Thank you for your answer. I should go to a ayurveda consultant, it cost a bit to go there here. But I will! I've seen documentaries on ayurveda and bought a book on that - and from the analysis that you find in the book and on the internet, I'm predominantly vatta with a bit pitta. I follow the diet that you find for vatta, and it seems to be working for me. Now I know why I've always preferred warm food:) Yes, I do ur yoga many times, and it's great for my tummy:)
I find that when i put pressure on my legs like the warrior pose my legs shake and its hard for me to relax. Just wondering if that is normal for beginners. I want to feel completely relaxed when im doing those things.
@NlNJAPRlME26 that sounds normal, especially for a beginner. It sounds to me like the muscles are trying to recruit themselves. I suspect it might stop when your legs get stronger.
Thank you for your comment minpaldy. We are very clear on what our intention is for Namaste Yoga - and that is to bring real yoga to real people - myself being one of them. I love when my viewers repeat my intentions back to me ... that is confirmation enough for me that we are doing the right thing by our viewers. Thank you again minpaldy.
I have to disagree with Caramel. I enjoy the format of Melissa's shows and am extremely grateful for how generous she is for sharing her videos FREE with all of us. I like that the videos are real and not all about perfection and appearances, because yoga's not about being perfect! You have a good thing going Melissa. Thanks for all you do!
Here's the blue print on how to make your videos better. (my background is: over 100 yoga classes, music producer, and I direct plays.) Step1 save your emails for the end of your videos. Step 2 Full length Body Shots ALWAYS. Step 3 More yoga, Less talk show. Step 4 Autograph your t-shirts for fans. Step 5 Wear Shorts and t-shirt for fans with memberships. ~ We want the type of video that your yoga class "does not get". ~ Fans want a 1 hour BREATH TAKING EXPERIENCE. - GOOD LUCK and Great Video!
