  • what is the name of the song in the background?

  • omg 30mpg! thats amazing! ah u americans need to learn about efficienct engines

  • if you really want to save on gas go to: thegas4free.blogspot,com

  • Does anyone know the name of the song used?

  • Toyota just announced they are delaying their Prius plug in because the technology "isn't safe".

Looks like GM is still going to be first to have a truely electric car.

  • Assuming that GM doesn't go bankrupt first. And they don't just lease it or do a recall after selling them. Or attempt to destroy lithium. Or they will make it really hard to get a volt (ask the weirdest questions, tell you how bad the car is, poor marketing).

  • Wow. You know NOTHING about the automotive industry. GM IS making the Volt and they're NOT going bankrupt.

  • Wow. You know nothing about GM's history with EVs and Hybrids.

  • Toyota would still be making the Rav4 EVs, if they weren't sued by the owner's of NiMH patents. Didn't GM own those patents?

  • Whats truly electric about the volt? It is still a hybrid. Although it is using an electric engine to propel the car, they still got a crappy gas generator in it. If they used NiMH, they could sell it now. They could make it fully electric. But it seems, they want to renegoiate the UAW contracts first.

  • yeah it'll prolly be a flop....anyone remember the 5.7 diesel joke?...

  • This video is simply amazing. Cinematic brilliance.

  • thank you.

  • SOLAR PRIUS VIDEO 70 MPG

  • GM has no efficient cars. GM is going bankrupt.

  • i heard that e85 is more dangerous for our health that regular gas

  • Where did you hear that?

Anyways, GM should make the volt fully electric.

  • That would cost WAY more, and only give you a fraction of the range. The Volt is a perfect balance. It has enough power to go on electric only for most people in a normal driving day. But when they need more range, they can get it at 50 MPG (real life, not EPA).

Because it's an all electric drive, and the engine helps in no way to move the the car (directly) you still get the benefits of electric drive.... which is better performance, better efficiency, and better reliability.

  • If they mass produce a fully electric car, the price would be a lot lower.

The EV1 cost so much because GM sucks at efficiency.

  • The RAV4 EV was even more than the EV1. Electric cars are expensive. Even a semi electric car is a lot. Look at the prius. That is a bread and butter car, and yet is starts at well over $20 because of it's drivetrain. Fuel efficiency aside, the Honda Civic beats ht eprius in almost every way. And yet it's over $5,000 less.

  • The Rav4 EV was actually cheaper. The EV1 was leased above the Rav4 EV. Also the Rav4 EV cost about 40K to purchase, the EV1 would have cost 80K if they sold it.

  • Where did you hear that the EV1 was cheaper than the Rav4 EV? GM is not efficient, they spent a lot and used crappy batteries. Then they switched to NiMH, but also still used a crappy way of placing the batteries and also used a battery cooling unit that wasted a lot of energy. GM sucks at efficiency.

  • If the Rav4 EV cost about 40k then, it should be a lot cheaper now with the NiMH. Too bad GM screwed over the NiMH patents.

  • Lithium is the next target on GM's EV assassination list.

  • Wow... there is seriously something wrong with you. Must be a hard life going around thinking everything is a conspiracy.

  • I use to not think there was any conspiracies to kill EVs. Till I saw that GM bought out NiMH and sold it to Oil companies. GM provided the proof.

  • I don't think everything is a conspiracy, its just that GM did so much to destroy EVs. I can' believe you can still trust GM. Until GM restructures its management, they will continue to make stupid decisions. They are firing 30,000 people because GM's management is retarded. They didn't even try to make a Hybrid till Toyota so a large amount. And then GM is now using the Volt publicity stunt to go against the plug in hybrids. Until GM actually sells the Volt, it is only a publicity stunt.

  • They are firing people because they are losing sales in America. What's fucked up is GM didn't really start losing sales until recently... and it wasn't until recently they started making phenomenal, award winning vehicles.

In other words they were doing better when they were still making crap. They are rapidly gaining market share in places like China and Europe, and yet sales in America are pretty much a free fall. It's pretty obvious Americans perception of GM is WAY off.

  • GM needs to improve its public relations in America. They can start by fixing the NiMH patents that they ruined. Then they can start selling EVs.

It so simple and yet so hard for GM to fix itself.

  • They are firing people because they made stupid decisions like destroying the EV or not selling fuel efficient cars or took too long to start selling fuel efficient cars or destroying NiMH. Businesses don't just start losing customers, GM just made one stupid decision after another. Remember its GM's own fault that they are losing customers.

  • I guess you aren't reading all of my posts. People are boycotting gas cars till they sell Electric cars. Also people are saving up to buy the new Electric cars from the EV automakers.

  • lovpantiac, there is also a huge difference between Toyota Cars and GM cars. Toyota cars don't break down as fast as GM cars. With Toyota you only need to go to the Mechanic every six months. Unlike GM or any other American car. I know because my Mom had a Lincon Mercury, that thing keep breakin down all the time. My aunt had a Dodge, that broke down every week. Now we only use Toyota or Honda.

  • So why is it that GM offers a 100,000 mile 5 year warranty and Toyota doesn't. If they are really as reliable as people think, then they should at the very least match GM.

  • Wow GM offers all that, then how come people are still having problems with American cars? People still problems with American cars, thats why people switch to Toyota or any other Japanese Automaker. American cars have been rated to be in mechanical shops longer than Japanese cars (this is a fact). No matter how many awards, warranties American cars have. In the end the amount of time the car can be driven is all that matters.

  • GM spent the all those years destroying EVs. They wasted a billions to destroy the EVs. They destroyed NiMH for EVs. They made sure the Oil companies had control over NiMH patents. Why would they ever sell the Volt to the public with all that bad history with EVs? GM is committed to destroying EVs. There are no facts that GM is going to release the Volt.

If GM wants to really show people that they are changing for the better. They have to fix the NiMH patents.

  • The smaller version of the NiMH was allowed for use in Hybrids. But Toyota has to pay the Oil companies royalties. Thank you GM for destroying the NiMH batteries. I hope GM goes bankrupt.

  • --The smaller version of the NiMH was allowed for use in Hybrids. But Toyota has to pay the Oil companies royalties. Thank you GM for destroying the NiMH batteries. I hope GM goes bankrupt.--

Ah, I guess that makes more sense. But frankly, what with the price of Lithium going down, and the superior performance, it makes one wonder if we will actually need NiMH.

It's cheaper, yes, but that doesn't make it entirely essential.

  • For instance, while the Nickel is readily availible, the other compounds are most definantly not readily availible.

    wikipedia. org/ wiki/ Nickel_metal_hydride_battery#Electrochemistry

So it really makes you wonder if NiMH is merely a matter of "It came our earlier, and is therefore cheaper"

Rather than an actual limitation on it's physical properties.

Besides which, NiMH degrades while on standby, and it weighs 4x as much as LiIon.

  • What I am also trying to say is that people will have to watch GM and Oil companies so that Lithium isn't destroyed. In order for GM to prove that they are going to sell an EV, they will have to get the NiMH patents back so that GM can prove it is fixing itself. Also allow other people to use the EV-95 format.

  • Do you have any idea how many EVs would be on the road now, if GM didn't destroy the NiMH? Watch GM carefully, Lithium is GM's next target.

  • The Rav4 EVs are still on the road. Toyota was selling EVs till the Oil companies sued them. You can thank GM for that huge shenanigan. Also people are driving the EVs beyond 100,000 miles.

  • The NiNH version EV-95, that needed to make the electric cars was taken away from Toyota. You need that EV-95 format, in order to run an electric car. You can't just use the batteries in the Hybrids. The Oil companies made sure that if anyone manufactured the EV-95 format will be sued.

  • You people don't seem to understand. The version of the battery required to power an EV, that version was taken away from Toyota. GM sold the rights to Oil companies. And the Oil companies sued Toyota.

Now GM is making an EV with Lithium. Watch as GM destroys Lithium like it did with NiMH.

  • oooh 30 mpg! Show me a non-hybrid car that gets 50mpg and I will be impressed.

  • Well, the 2008 Diesel Accord gets 52mpg

  • Toyota is amazing. They were committed to making EVs, unlike GM.

  • Forget about it. There is great fun and gret trucks out there, type in Google "4wd shed" and hit "I feel lucky"!!! and you'll see. Those trucks ROCKS!!!!!

  • You should be asking why they are taking so long to release the Volt? Why aren't they using NiMH? Look up the truth on NiMH before you knock it.

  • If you compared the Rav4 and EV1, you will see the truth. Which company was actually trying to make a working efficient EV. Face the truth, GM is only going to disappoint you with the Volt publicity stunt.

  • The Volt is only a publicity stunt. We all know well that GM will never sell that Volt. NiMH is the answer. They should go get the NiMH patents back. GM is never going to be committed to selling an EV.

  • You do realize that the Toyota Prius operates of of NiMH batteries, right?

  • You don't seem to understand something, the Oil companies sued Toyota for making the larger versions of the NiMH batteries. Its not the batter itself. It is the patent. The patent allows the company to produce the larger version of the battery, which is needed for EVs. You people don't know anything about technology. You just look at the headlines. Read in to it. Understand how technology patents work. It is too hard to explain it to you. Just read in to it.

  • If any of you still don't think that GM can make a fully electric and release it to the public now. Go to this website.

    Ws_dot_ev1_dot_org_

  • If GM was serious about an EV project, they would get the NiMH patents back.

  • NiMH was the answer, till GM bought out the rights and sold them to the oil companies.

  • NiMH would give the EVs the range we need. Its just that GM sold the patents to oil companies. Look up Cobasys and find out what happened to NiMH. NiMH would have gave us the efficiency and afforable price we need.

  • Also, Toyota is working on a Plug in Hybrid.

The Volt is still a Hybrid.

  • The Volt is a Plugin Hybrid.

More importantly, it's a Series Plugin Hybrid.

(i.e. An electric car with a small gasoline generator to charge the batteries)

Toyota, they aren't working on a Plugin Hybrid.

(And even if they did, it would be a Parallel Plugin Hybrid

    i.e. A Prius with a bigger batter)

The only sucky thing about the Volt is that they are taking 4 years to bring it out.

  • I know about the other cars. But the price is a little high for me. I know about Tesla, Phoenix, Zap, Mitsubishi, Subaru, and some Chinese Automaker are going to release a lot of electric cars by 2008, also by 2009 will be the mass release.

  • I know we have Lithium ion poly.

But the Volt looks more like publicity stunt, so to distract buyers from buying the Prius. They could easily release the Volt with NiMH batteries now. And when the Lithium-ion poly is ready, they can make a gen 2 Volt.

  • 30 mpg? Is this a joke. European cars get 50% more than that easily. Buy a Renault Clio diesel and you will get over 70 mile to the gallon on the motorway. Infact a motoring magazine tested the Renault Clio on a test track and got an unofficial world record ofover 120 mile to the gallon. If every car in the US got 45mpg the US wouldnt need to import oil.

  • The US government puts huge emission restrictions on diesels... making them pretty much useless. Also small cars dont sell.

GM's Huge 900 trucks (Tahoem Yukon, Escalade, ect) sell over 100k a month, and those are $45,000 vehicles. The tiny Aveo that is about $13,000 sells 7k. There's no point in having small cars over here because no one wants them. So for US, 30 MPG is pretty good.

  • Id have no problem owning a 4 seater EV-1

  • If no one wants small cars, then why is Toyota getting more sales each year? Also while GM is losing more sales each year?

  • GM is losing sales because of idiots like who who go around talking about how amazing Toyota is. And Toyota isn't getting their sales from small cars. GM sells more $30k Tahoes than Toyota sells $11k Yaris.

In fact their best selling car, the Camry, was made even bigger when they redesigned it.

  • GM isn't committed to making cars that people want. Why do you think people like Toyota? Toyota has great service. Toyota lets you decide when to buy. Toyota earned the respect and loyalty from their customers.

Anyone that has been to GM or Ford dealerships has always been ripped off.

  • GM is out sourcing more right now. GM is dying. Until GM produces a car that people want, and with out any schemes, people will move on to Toyota.

GM has to fix its image, but for some reason they keep making it worst. An electric car would. Getting back the NiMH patents would definitely help. Too bad GM is too retarded to fix itself.

  • If you really like GM so much, can you explain these questions?

    1. Why did GM buy up NiMH patents and sell them to Oil companies? Oil companies sued Toyota.

    2. Why did GM position the batteries in the worst spot possible in the EV1?

    3. Why isn't the Volt our right now with NiMH batteries?

  • Wow you really are an idiot. And what's even worse is you represent a large portion of America. You know America is the only place in there world where Toyota is thought of this highly...which is pretty sad considering they aren't even American.

I'm done here. You just don't get it. You really think American cars are that much worse? Well that's ok, just don't bitch when there aren't any American automotive jobs left when you and other idiots convinced people to not buy from the big 3.

  • If the Big 3 really wants to survive they shouldn't have destroyed their electric cars. Until GM realizes how retarded it is, they won't make cars that people want. They should get the NiMH patents back and sell a great electric car.

  • Also, with the new American EV automakers coming out, there will be plenty of jobs.

  • If this was any other company, they would have fixed themselves a long time ago. GM is committed to destroying the electric car. Look at how they did it. They are committed to SUVs and Trucks. Until GM's image is fixed more people will move on to Toyota.

You don't get it, GM is destroying itself. With all their retarded decisions. Until they fix those past mistakes, it will keep haunting GM (EV, NiMH patent, etc).

  • Committed to destroying the electric car... GM IS THE ONLY FUCKING AUTOMAKER MAKING AN ELECTRIC CAR. Toyota hasn't announced plans for a single electric car. There's too much money to be made in overpriced hybrids.

And why should they stop making huge trucks. PEOPLE BUY THEM. And look what happens when they make an award winning Camry killer.... no one buys it. If they stopped making trucks they would go out of business you fucking dumbass.

  • GM is not committed to making EVs. GM bought out the NiMH patents. Then GM sold the NiMH patents to the oil companies. While Toyota was making EVs, the oil companies sued Toyota. If you look at the truth, you will see that GM destroyed the EVs. The Volt is only a publicity stunt. If they were serious about EVs, they would release it right now with NiMH.

  • Will you shut up about these "NiMH patents". You can't patent an open technology. Why do you think the Prius uses them now?

And NiMH isn't even close to being good enough to power an electric car. Look at the EV1. Even in a super tiny, super light car, it cost $40,000 to make. Largely because of the batteries.

And lets say GM really isn't serious about EVs. Well guess what. They already have done far more than Toyota when it comes to EVs. If GM is bad, Toyota is pretty much Satan.

  • GM destroyed the EVs. Only Toyota sold EVs. GM sold the NiMH patents to Oil companies. Oil companies sued Toyota for making EVs with NiMH batteries. Look at the truth. GM will never sell EVs.

  • They only sold a fraction of them. Plus only 328 were made. Over 1,000 EV1s were made. Not that it really matters. Toyota sells 40,000 23 MPG Camrys each month.

If you don't think the Volt is coming, then you're an idiot.

"General Motors intends to build a production version of its Chevrolet Volt electric concept car in 2010, Vice Chairman Bob Lutz told reports at the Geneva Motor Show. 'Competitors who write this off as a PR exercise are going to be brutally surprised,' Lutz said."

  • Like I said Gm destroyed it. GM will never ever sell a working EV. GM is doomed. GM will ultimately fail. GM could sell the Volt now with NiMH batteries. If they do sell it, watch as almost the entire world is amazed and surprised that GM actually sold an EV. Besides, the Volt is a Hybrid. GM will never sell EVs. GM is lying to you. Look at history.

  • History... lmao well that's convenient. I'm looking at the cars available right now, and I have to say I'm pretty unimpressed with Toyota. Boring cars with boring interiors that cost a fortune. Sorry if im not a sheep.

And no, the Volt is not a hybrid. The drive system is 100% electric, so you still get the efficiency and reliability advantage. The engine it has never drives the car, unlike a hybrid. Plus for most people, the engine wont even turn in a normal day of driving.

  • Oh and by the way... I think it's worth mentioning GM recently hired over 400 American engineers to work on their E-Flex platform. (The Electric platform the Volt uses)

  • Amazing, they hired 400 more people. Wow that changes the 30,000 that they are going to fire. They also have plans to set up a factory in China.

There is no way that GM will sell the Volt. The Volt is only a publicity stunt. Watch as you get dissapointed in 2010. Or was it 2011. I can't remember because they keep changing it.

  • You're right, they did change the date... to 2009.

And my point for the engineers is that they wouldnt hire them if they weren't serious about electric cars. Even if the engineers are cheap and work at 50k a year... that's still $20 million a year. If GM is in much trouble as you make it sound, they wouldnt be spending that much money on something they don't plan on bringing to production.

And even if they cut 30k jobs, they would still hire far more Americans than Toyota. GM:50 US plants TM:8

  • Awesome, the boycott is doing something. wow 20 millions this time. And not 1 billion like the EV1. I guess they are getting more efficient.

  • That 1 billion included marketing. Lmao, plus hiring engineers isn't the only cost of making a car. 400 is just what they added on.

And you just said it yourself... GM spent 1 billion on the EV1. Yeah they didn't take that car seriously at all.

  • If they ever do sell it, they will prove the entire world wrong. Almost no one believes GM will ever sell it. Until they do sell it, people will keep poking holes in the Volt. People believe until GM loses enough money, GM won't sell it. GM will keep losing money until they can prove the world wrong.

  • Remember GM said that they spent an excess of 1 billion on the EV1. And not one sold.

  • Search "Addressing the Volt Questions" on youtube. He answers a lot of your questions.

  • I saw that vid. I got no answers.

  • You didnt watch it.

If you did... why dont you tell me what he said in the video. And not just the first part.

  • all it said was that GM is going to release it and use Lithium. Those are just empty promises from GM. Until, I or other people see the Volt rolling the street by a non GM, people will keep the boycott up. Anyways, people won't expect much from GM, till the Volt is sold to the public with no strings attached.

  • You sort of remind me of Al Gore. When everything you say turns out not to be true... you wont look like an idiot because it's going to be so far from now. I wont even remember this debate.

  • Wow, you are actually believe GM is going to release it.

  • The Volt is only a publicity stunt. Lithium is ready to be used now. They are taking so long to release it because after a while people will forget about the Volt. Watch as you are disappointed or maybe you will forget about the Volt.

  • lmao! Do you have any idea how expensive Li-Ion is? A tiny laptop Li-Ion is almost $100.

Why do you think their target range is only 40 miles? But, because it charges so much faster than NiMH, it allows the car to recharge as it's driving. And no you cant do that with NiMH "RIGHT NOW". It takes about 2x as long to charge making it so the engine would have to run at 3,600 RPMs to recharge compared to 1,800. And that would half the fuel economy.

  • Wow, this looks like they might actually lease more than 800.

  • Until GM sells that Volt, GM will keep losing customers to Toyota. Or to EV converters.

  • Also you probably haven't heard this, people aren't just buying the Prius. Some people are boycotting buying Gas cars for the year 2007. This boycott is either working or its just coincidence the GM lost 20% sales.

  • You know nothing about technology. GM is committed to destroying the EVs. Toyota would have keep making the EVs, but GM destroyed it. GM is researching Lithium, so that they can destroy it too. Watch as GM destroys another technology or at least tries really hard to. If they get a hold of Lithium patents, watch as GM pulls another EV1 shenanigan. GM will never sell the Volt. Look up the history and find out what they did.

  • You sound like a broken record. And provide absolutely no proof. I think you watched who killed the electric car one too many times.

  • I told you to search the internet for NiMH patents. There is proof, you just can't seem to see it. Anyways no matter how few people say that GM is good, there are more people that know the truth. GM is doomed, until it can fix its past mistakes. GM will be be haunted by all those they screwed over.

  • I am not saying to stop making trucks, I am saying to make more cars that people want. Like the Electric car. GM destroyed their own EV. Look at the history and you will learn the truth. GM destroyed and help destroyed Toyota's EV.

  • Face the truth, GM will never release the Volt. Look at the EV1. Look at how they wasted 1 billion dollars and sold nothing. Its GM's own fault that they can spend efficiently. Look at Tesla, only spent a couple million and sold 100 cars all ready. GM is not committed to selling EVs.

  • You can blame the people that are switching to Toyota. But in reality, its GM's own fault that they are stuck in this mess. If you really like GM, tell them to fix themselves.

  • Hey lovepontiac, look up the NiMH ev-95 format. Look up cobasys. Lithium is next on GM's assassination list, just like NiMH was.

  • I want GM to take the rights back and fix it. So that NiMH gets cheaper and more efficient.

  • Who cares about NiMH when we got Lithium, Lithium Polymer, and UltraCapacitors.

Besides, NiMH is already being used in the Prius.

  • I am talking about the NiMH patent, the new technology that GM was controlling, but sold it to oil companies.

  • Sounds like you haven't heard of the other electric cars on the way.

    greyfalcon. net/ electriccars.png

    greyfalcon. net/ tesla

    greyfalcon. net/ truck3

  • Even though I know about the new EVs from other Automakers, I am going to keep poking holes in to the Chevy Volt Publicity Stunt.

  • NiMH is good enough to get the EV1 going. They could bring back the EV1.

  • It wouldn't sell. No one is going to spend $40,000 on a stupid ugly car that can only seat two, is limited to 80 MPH, and has a range 100 miles.

Ok SOME people might buy it, but that would never become a sales hit. Never. Ever.

The Volt is a much better concept. Seats 5. Goes to 120 MPH. Has a range of 640 miles. Most likely will be prius priced. And you still get all reliability advantages and the fuel savings of electric drive.

  • The NiMH Patent. Check out Cobasys (Chevron). GM had control the NiMH patents and stuff. They could have made NiMH cheaper. Search the internet and find out what happened.

  • Also, if GM was committed to bringing back the EV, they should get the rights back for the NiMH Patents. This will prove that they are committed to EVs. Also let other people use the NiMH.

  • Why would they want to use NiMH technology? They are huge, expensive, difficult to recycle, and don't hold a lot of power.

And what is this crap about "suppressing NiMH". NiMH is an open technology... no one has exclusive rights to it. The Prius and most hybrids uses a nikel battery.

GM is the only major car company that has promised an electric car. Toyota hasn't unveiled a single electric car concept they intend to produce.

  • Remember its GM's own fault that they are in this situation.

  • Why can't GM bring back the EV1 with NiMH batteries?

  • I enjoyed that. We should all go out and buy hybrid cars. Upload more please.

  • I'll be amazed when I see them do a 3,000 mpg or something at least near a middle ground.

  • Hey LovePontiac, how come when you started commenting that spammer guy stopped?

  • Because I'm obviously the spammer. I love GM so much, I want to ruin their youtube ad.

They are losing sales because of people like you, who refuse to believe American cars are now good. Last year GM beat Toyota for Car and Truck of the year. They are almost definitely going win again this year.

The Saturn Aura beat the new Camry for NA car of the year. The most prestigious award in the US. Last month's sales: Camry 46k. Aura 4k. The car that sells the most isn't always the best.

  • Until, GM finally releases the Volt for sale to the public, I will keep goading them. So will many others. Until, they can prove that the Chevy Volt is no publicity stunt, I will goad them. They better also offer a fully electric version.

  • What do you mean GM is the only major car company committed to making an EV? They had control of the NiMH batteries, then sold them to Chevron and Texaco or some oil company. Then Chevron supressed the NiMH technology. Toyota was making the Rav4 EV, till they ran out of NiMH batteries to use.

  • Also, if GM really wants to sell their cars, they got make fully electric cars with warranties that last a long time. Also get the NiMH Patent back. Completely restructure their management. Apparently, their management has no idea what to do. Bring back the electric car. GM has to work hard to get Americans to trust GM again.

  • What do you mean they are Generous to their employees? They are closing down more plants. They are out sourcing more factories. GM is slowly becoming more foreign.

If they are so efficient and cheap, then how no one is buying them.

  • hello from the Queen City Of the Philippines, Cebu City..Mabuhay

  • They got the money, the factories, the designs, the technology, and everything else needed. There is even a huge market for a fully electric car. Now, if they could just see that there is a market for electric cars. They should stop teasing us with their nonproduction concept car. The EV automakers are going to dominate the market, before GM will ever mass produce EVs. Look at the history up to now.

  • When they killed their EV1, they crippled themselves. Look at them now, 20% down in sales. Making negative money each year. We know they can make an all electric car now. There are tons of designs out there that work great. Its not that hard. If only they would sell them and not only lease and destroy them.

  • wow chevy comercials / videos suck

  • So much negativity hurts. I believe you can use your analytical skills to help others. Why so much hate and insult. If Chevy commercials are bad, they will not succeed. Time will tell. Help us fight against poverty in Honduras. We do not have many videos but you can inform yourself on our website.

  • Bye Bye GM, you continue to make un efficient big SUV's and cars when the consumers want efficiency, o well you should have jumped on the Toyota and Honda Bandwagon of ideas a long time ago it you wanted your corporation to survive!

  • Hey GM stop building cars no one wants. Those SUVs and Trucks and whatever else you got is only going to stack up in your warehouses. Till you have to pay those inventory taxes. Then you will be bankrupt fast. So do your selves a favor and make us a fully electric car. They will sell like hotcakes, with all these high gas prices.

  • Hey GM, stop with the marketing ploys and build us an electric car before you go bankrupt. You are all ready making negative money. So how about give us what we want? A fully electric car. It will boost your tumbling sales. Stop with you Asian design knock offs. And build us an all "Original American Electric Car". We know you can do it.

  • What are you talking about? GM is the ONLY major automaker committed to the electric car. They are trying to bring it to production by the end of 2009... which is extremely ambitious.

  • If they really wanted to bring back the electric car they would be making them right now. Its not that hard for GM, they did it before. If they would only not spend 1 billion dollars on crappy advertisements and only leasing the car or only producing 1000 or so. They could make the electric car right now, if they wanted to. It looks more like they are trying to do a publicity stunt with the Volt. They could make that car a lot better and make it fully electric.

  • Changing the world can be done by helping others. Helping others can be done in different forms, for various objectives and come from our heart or mind. Many individuals and organizations do it to help themselves by adapting their strategies to what society expects and consequently capitalizing on the changes made. Others and many of them, simply not recognized by society, do it from the bottom of their hearts without thinking. This is the pure essence of being kind.

  • To understand this essence you must let your heart take you wherever it leads you, without thinking on the whys. To listen to your heart does not mean to abandon your mind. Your mind is there to analyze, memorize, calculate, and produce. Your heart is the energy that takes you to your destiny. "Follow your Hearts", it is your compass through the journey of life.

  • Remember, we live in a world of worlds. Your world is not the same as those who live off 1 dollar a day. You'd say, thanks god. If we only focus on the standard of living of most YouTubers, we would come to the conclusion that your life is comfortable. You have everything you need: an education, 3 meals a day, medicine, hospitals, civil rights, opportunities, money, highways, public transport, electricity, a robust financial system, a healthy job market,

  • security, communications, shops, malls, responsible companies, a place to live, privileges... a list that would look like the empire state building when compared to the list poor persons in Honduras. Do misinterpret what you have and what you could have.. These are all things you can have or not have. That is why you are grouped as the haves while the poor in Honduras a placed in the have nots group.

  • To have and to be are very different. Poor people need to be because they don't have anything else. While you have everything and you may be nothing because the things you have make you who you are. Take those things away and you may not be what you thought you were. So start feeling, nurturing your senses and let loose for your heart to find your true self again. When we are kids, our lives are purely led through our senses because we do not know what to do as we do not have the

  • have the information to lead our actions. If you loose your true self, it is because your mind as seized complete control over your feelings. For the heart to come back to you, the mind must still, to give your senses space to act. Let yourself go... And remember to allow your brain to capture your real self so that you can always remember who you really are.

  • If you don't know about the Cobasys(Chevron) thing about the NiMH batteries, look it up. You find out that they are supressing the patent so cheaper NiMH batteries won't become available for a long time. Its all Chevron's fault.

  • Yes. Everybody will die someday but before this happens, we can make a better world for us and the upcoming generations. CFS is helping the planet become a cleaner place to live in by manufacturing environmentally friendly vehicles. This is 1 way to change the world. Another is by helping Honduran kids come out of extreme poverty. It is our duty to follow our hearts; don't let your mind corrupt the way you act. Learn about our mission and share your heart, adiuvohonduras.

  • woops, I meant Chevy not Chevron in the 20 plus cars.

  • GM had the EV1, that could have been their number one selling car right now. But it took them forever to come up with the Volt. If they wanted they could release the Volt now with NiMH batteries, that will boost their sales. Then they could at least raise their tumbling stock prices.

  • Well, there is the Chevy Volt.

But thats gonna take till 2011 till it gets much market exposure.

I'm looking more towards the electric cars coming out in the next-year / few-months

  • You're digging your own grave, GM. 30 mpg?! What is this, 1973? And where the hell is our electric car, dammit? I demand answers chevy2007ce!

  • You think 30 MPG is bad? Toyota only has 7 models that get 30+ MPG. And 3 of those are expensive Hybrids.

  • Yeah 30 is bad compared to Toyota. Really bad. Because even if Chevron had 20 cars that did 30+, they won't sell too many. 30+ was the 90s cool thing. Now Toyota has 40+ on the avg. The Yaris is great. Remember its not quantity, its quality that counts.

  • What are you talking about. Toyota only has 2 cars that get's a better than 40 MPG rating... and only one of the prius is actually capable of getting that.

And don't even get me started on the Prius. That is without a doubt the worst value on the market. It's dangerously slow, hideously ugly, not particularly refined, relatively small, and STARTS at $20k. That's a hefty price to pay for a terrible, efficient vehicle.

  • Toyota has the Corolla also, rated at 41mpg.

What I am saying is even if GM markets that they got 8 30mpg cars, they can't beat the 40mpg that Toyota has. GM is using nothing but marketing ploys to sell their cars. And apparently they are making negative money each year. They are going to have to do better than 30mpg, if they want to make money or sell an electric car.

  • They are making "negative money" because they have outrageous legacy costs. So pretty much they are borderline bankrupt because they were too good to their workers (GM is often referred to as Generous Motors). GM actually pulls in more money than Toyota, by far.

  • The Yaris, Corrola, and the Prius will are 40mpg+. You don't need to state that you got the most 30mpg+ cars, you need to market 40mpg+ cars. GM can say they got more efficient(so-called) cars, but not the most efficient cars. Quality over Quantity.

  • Yaris is 40. Aveo is 37. Corolla auto is 38, Cobalt auto is 36.

But you have to take into consideration the Chevys are less expensive. Then there are other benefits like the Aveo's far superior interior, and Cobalt's way faster 0-60 (7.8 vs. 10.5)

If anything GM is better at efficiency. When you take a look at their large vehicles, they are far more efficienct than what Toyota. (Tahoe is 22% more efficient than Sequoia. Yaris is 8% more efficient than Aveo)

  • The new Corollas are rated at 41.

  • What do you mean Chevys are more efficient? Those small cars that GM is now making comes from South Korea.

So are you saying the because the employees, GM will be bankrupted soon.

  • If you are saying the GM is more efficient and cheaper, then why are they losing so many sales? Why are their stock prices tumbling down? Why are they slowly dwindling away? What took them so long to make more efficient cars?

How come when you started commenting that spammer stopped?

  • to move beyond that with certain vehicles you then have to start a push n pull with the laws of physics...when using gasoline....a single spray of gasoline is only going to burn for so long...so you have to either make the vehicle lighter or you must make the displacement smaller decreasing performance..Please check out my video PLEASE HELP ME FIND MY BROTHER it is a real story and I need your help...send it to everyone you know...Thanks

  • HELLO

    FROM

    MARS

  • shaddap netherlands weirdo, 30 mpg is good for a car with 250+ horsepower

  • 30 mpg is pretty crappy considering we've had 27mph average for 30 years.

Whats more, I can be that none of these vehicles get +30mpg in 2008 EPA estimates.

They are reevaluating the MPG in 2008 to make it more realistic. (i.e. Lowering it. Except for diesels, thats actually going up)

  • yeah, 30 mpg is pretty crappy compared to rest of the world and decades. Why is anyone defending the 30 mpg? GM is slowly dwindling away because of their stupid business decisions. If they really want to be Eco friendly, how about bring back the EV1? Or releasing the Chevy Volt this year with NiMH batteries? That should boost their sales, I know if they release a fully electric car for "sale", I would buy it and so would many other people. GM is just too stupid to sell what people want.

  • NiMH wouldn't give the range GM wants. Not to mention they are expensive. Plus even if they were going to use NiMH. they still couldn't get it out this year. The Volt Concept isnt even a year old yet. Hell, it's barely a half year old.

  • If GM forces Cobasys (chevron) to release that damn patent and insteat supressing it, we would have cheaper NiMH batteries. If they released it with NiMH for now, they could at least get their sales up because of all the people that want electric cars. After they get their Lithium-ion thing working the way GM wants, they can do a Gen 2 of the Volt.

  • Right. I just looked up the Aveo 5sp 1.6 liter. 30 mpg combined for 2007, but 27 combined mpg for 2008.

  • um, why are they trying to act like 30mpg is god-like?
