Seems like thats the only way the busa win against any other bike. When it comes to power, it really sucks but they go by how it feels and handles. They pretty much compared this bike the same way they did with the zx12 years ago. The 12 had more power and was able to take off better than the busa but brakes and the way it handled just didnt match up to their needs. Which was crazy cause not all bikes feel the same. A busa could suck on all of those things as well to some other people
and to add to what he said look at the rider they guy is short as hell he not sitting comfortable so the ride is crap but if your 5'8 + you will have no pm I am 6'6" and i feel like that bike is an extension of me its so comfortable bmw needs to rethink their bike and seriously reconsider that price cause unless you a down hard bmw lover that bike is just going to sit on the sales floor the one near my house been there for 5 months i see it every day
i looked at the bmw and for having that name I am very very very disapointed one the hp is crap i rode it as well as the 1300 busa but there is no comparison hands down its a better bike if you dont agree you did not ride them both
you have no clue how to take a bend as shown in the video, so to say the bmw doesn't handle well holds no word of truth coming from your mouth, i own a 2006 k1200s and out-handle my friends on cbr600's, btw if it falls into the bend thats better than drifting wide, i would also look up the fact that the k1300s and my own k1200s is faster to 120 than the busa
I'm not quite sure what this guy is talking about. I've owned a 'busa for ten years, and just bought a K13S. To me, the K13S handles better than the 'busa any day of the week. Set the suspension for sport mode and prepare to be astounded.
The big win on the 'busa is price: at $14K, it's significantly cheaper than the base K13S, and a crapload cheaper than the premium K13S, but you give up:
If you want a mainstream bike that everyone else has you go busa. If you want something that is a bit more refined in my opinion and better built you go k 1300 s. I see busas all day long in the shop im in. Good thing for me at the end of the month im going to be starting my new job working in a BMW shop.
I don't get it, he concludes by saying 'the busa can do the twisties, and also do the distances the long distance bikes do'...right after saying 'For longer distances, the Busa isn't as comfortable as the BMW. Be smart, go for the Beemer
I have had Busa and the last 3.5 years I ride 07 K1200S. My opinion that BMW is much better bike and it handles just fine. I would never go back to Hayabusa!
Complaints about handling? Are you friggin serious? I have 20,000km on mine and its the finest handling motorcycle I have ever owned. Idiot nuff said.
About the drive on the BMW, how many other bikes have you rode with that set up? You're comparing the shaft drive to a chain. You should review it on its own. If I started out on a shaft drive and reviewed my first chain drive bike I may say it's horrible.
This was the worst test of motorcycles that I have ever seen in my life!
He even fortgot to tell about the extras that you can put on the bmw like the speed shifter, the integral abs, the traction control, the electronic suspension adjustment II and the luggage boxes. But he didnt't forgot to tell about the extras of the hayabusa, because there are none!!!!!!
Hayabusa will never be able to keep up with the technic and the suspension and the disign of the BMW K1000S
But you can buy factory luggage and take a 3 month trip on the K1300S and get 45.5 mpg. I did 6000 miles last July on a Ducati S4RS and it was great except for the 130 mile range and the loan side bag. The BMW extends horizons and still goes like it is on fire. Price up a Hayabusa with Beetle Bags, heated grips, etc and then see the difference.
sargent will make a seat, bar risers wll ease the lean and peg extensions will make the bike a 1000 mile a day long distance iron but contender...and btw also run low 9's @ 148
This guy is so unaware of anyone who wants a different kind of bike than he does. Put 25 more years on this kid and see what he likes better. Comparing these two bike is foolish in the first place, they aren't aimed at the same crowd.
Sorry, not impressed. The reviewer comes across as uninformed about Euro bikes. Granted lots of guys are used to Japanese bikes, and prefer them. But to do a proper review, you need to put your biases aside.
For a great comparo between K1300S and Hayabusa see the cover story in Sept 09 issue of Sport Rider magazine. They called the K13 the "New All-Out Class King."
I love my Hayabusa! The BMW is cool too. It comes down to what you want really. I like mind numbing acceleration, the ability to tour, and carve up a canyon when you get there! The busa never gets the credit it deserves when handling. I ride my friend's GS 500 and his R6 - both very nimble but I am more comfortable on the busa in every way. The weight is not an issue as soon as you get going. BTW, there is no 2010 busa, they are left over 09's!
These bikes are for older, more experienced riders. These are NOT your average teenage punks pocket rockets. They may not look as good and might not get those panties dropping quite as fast. But at the end of the day, these are bikes for longer rides and again, for older, more experienced riders. If you want the flare that the smaller bikes have, go for it. But they are uncomfortable as hell.
The handling is superb!! Check my clips - I'm no Valentino Rossi but you can see some good lean angle. You'll have no problem in the tightest of twisties. I would recommend a Corbin seat if you go the busa route. It's not a perfect sport tourer out of the box but can be with a seat, some heated grips, a gps, and some bags!
@supersayin1 I don't know what rock or hole you've been living in, but the hayabusa has out sold any bike Kawi produced except for the 250-500 ninja. Hell my bike dealer can't even keep a used busa on the showroom floor before it gone while brand new zx14's are sitting there getting dusty month after month.
@jeff2all i don't know about that, i work at a dealership in the mid-west. its near fort Leonard Wood if you where that is. but everyone comes from the fort to get bikes, they tend to buy the zx14r and gsxr 1000s. we only have one busa and one 14r left, but the busa has been there longer and hasnt had near as much attention. strange why we have it on a stage too... but the monster energy kawis are gone as soon as we get them. never seen anything sell so fast, so consistently.
interesting. It's the opposite here in CA, I rarely see a ZX 14. In my 2 years and 32k miles of owning the busa, I have seen 3 ZX14s, and that counts the one at the dealership in Hollywood.
@motosporttouring what i find weird is that i see more busas around (maybe since theyve been out longer idk), but we sell more zx14s... all those soldiers cant ride for shit though, almost all come back wrecked. it tears me apart each time... i do think busa riders tend to be better/more knowledgeable riders.
@jeff2all ford fiestas outsold ferraris. I don't know what rock or hole you've been living in, but that doesn't make a fiesta a more desirable car than a ferrari.
This guy looks like a long distance touring rider! No. Not use to riding a big bike.

The BMW has room for a passenger. The handling might be slightly compromised in order to compensate for added rider. At least that's how it appears.

Yep. The ZX-14 is a great bike but it's fugly, whereas the Busa looks great, especially the Gen 1.
The K1300 is an awesome piece of machinery but, for the money, it really doesn't represent any great advantage over the Busa.
Suzuki Kabushiki-Kaisha FTW!
