  • A really great performance (saw it live) but the texts... oy vey.

  • 0:35 . 1:46. 3:12 ☆☆☆☆☆

  • Kelli O'Hara recently visited my HS as part of a program where Broadway stars visit local school and sing a few songs, and i was one of the privileged few that got a chance to talk to her before the event started. In addition to having one of the most beautiful voices i have ever heard, she is a genuinely nice and down to earth person. After seeing her in action, I shocked that she has not won any of the Tony awards she has been nominated for

  • Amazing.

  • Is that Harry Connick Jr introducing it?

  • I hated this musical, absolutely detested it, but after watching the live version of the performance on PBS a few days ago, I had a change of heart. I still don't LOVE the musical, but Kelli O Hara is incredible.

  • haha daniell radcliff at the end. awsomeee

  • wow! i just watched this live at the lincon center last night! awesome!!!!! also was it me or did anyone notice danielle radcliff at the end!

  • It was live on PBS last night and GLORIOUS.

  • rushed and tempo too fast for my taste, apparantly to fit into a time slot within the show. But still very nice.

  • My first and my favorite Broadway show. I'm going to miss it SO MUCH!!! I can't wait until the PBS broadcast and MM had BETTER be there!!!!! :D

  • I saw these same people perform tonight lol. AMAZING.

  • I just saw the play today and it is amazing! Great actors, and wonderful music! :) One of the best seen musicals.

  • Best Rodgers and Hammerstien musical ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Could I get some help, PLEASE? I remember hearing Alan Alda singing this, then a dog howls the last note. Where do I remember THIS?

  • @stevenscottoddballz It was on M*A*S*H and he was making fun of Hot Lips, as usual; iirc.

  • @stevenscottoddballz Speaking of Alan Alda, he hosted this last night on "Live at Lincoln Center"

  • Kelli OHara is my cousin, but i still have not met her. When i get a little bit older i will see her in person and go in her dressing room!!!!! (CANT WAIT)

  • Iew the moustache!!

  • i'm going to see this tomorrow in NY i'm kiind of excited.....

  • Some enchanted evening: sung 90% of the time with a cheesy sounding foreign accent.

  • Comment removed

  • @Demon: because it is performed by an actor portraying a Frenchman. Paulo is from Brazil, but his accent is authentically english as a second language. What is wrong with that?

  • @Cruiserfrank Nothing, it's just funny @.@

  • but Paul Szot does it pretty boss like:P

  • Paulo Szot is foreign.

  • @WooTaShooTa

    I know! lol

  • Peerless score of course. But this medley is so sped up for the TV audience much of it has been debased. R&H would have attacked the producers.

  • Comment removed

  • @alexalex: R and H would have NOT attacked the producers; as they would have known (as you seem to not) that this is a MEDLEY for the Tony's. What's wrong with it?

  • My high school is doing this show in a couple months. I'm so excited!

  • Kelly as Maria in the revival of The Sound of Music. Please, please, Disney ... stage it.

  • I saw this musical in the summer

    It was so AMAZING

  • I like how the lead channels Burt Lahr! (Cowardly Lion.)

  • or yago form aladin

  • I really understand her giddy dance break moment

  • going to Bora Bora ........... always remember this from my childhood. Hope its all it seems to be

  • Aaaah, they are divine!!! Who doesn't like Paolo??? I will fight you in the street. :P lol. For me, it could not be more perfectly cast.

  • Matthew Saldivar & Anderson Davis are incredible in the Chicago shows!

  • DANIEL!!!

  • Personally, I prefer Laura Osnes to Kelli O'Hara as Nellie. Her voice is divine.

  • =D YAY

  • I really don't think Emile sounds that great, I know a lot people who can sing better than that.

  • Compooky121-

If you don't think Paulo sounds GREAT you should see an ENT...

Paulo auditioned for this role with 500 other singers...where

the people you know were at that time??

why do you think he 's the only one, from this superb production, who got the all the awards? Drama Desk, Outer Critics AND THE TONY!

    Your posting is absurd!

  • YOU MAD?

  • haha our high school is doing this musical this weekend

  • I saw this live once. It was long LOL

  • Man I love this musical, it would have been amazing to see it live. It's so beautiful and relevant.

  • I heart Kelli. She's awesome.

  • Everyone is so much more energetic live than on the CR. Don't get me wrong, I love my copy, but on the CD, Danny Burstein doesnt have the comedic zing; Kelli OHara seems to have been asked to hold back. Its as if the whole cast were afraid of putting too much personal emotion into the recording of R&H's 50 yr old score. I understand their respect 4 it, but it leaves songs like "Wonderful Guy" and "Nothing Like a Dame" w/out the needed punch that the cast clearly demonstrates they have live.

  • @Capricaquarius89 Sooo true! I saw it live and it was so full of energy. It was truly brilliant. Probably one of the better shows I've seen live. :)

  • I hate the tonys for one reason and that is because they speed up all the performances and it sounds weird! UGH!

  • in the heights is better

  • I don't understand how one could even really compare the 2.

  • Kind of having nothing to do with each other.

  • Good one, but I preferred the original version...

  • we did this show my sophomore year of highschool... i can't stand it anymore, sorry folks.

  • same here. . . well. . . about the sophomore year thing. . .but I LOVE IT!!!! :)

  • corny. :)

  • omg! i love it so much i can't stand it! :D amazing! i hope one of the theatres i work with does this soon. . .

    ~lAUra

cheers to you big guy and i hope to see you at tthe podeum come june 7th

  • saw this in NYC yesterday!

  • Wow, who is this Paulo Szot? I've never heard this song sung this great. He's amazing. Absolutely inspiring.

  • Some Enchanted Evening is good, but he lacks the true rumbling bass voice the song was written for.

  • there voices at the start reeli connect harmonies r great

  • oh my buhjesus my drama teacher toured with this show!!!!!!

  • amazing harmony here to be quite honest

  • i saw that on wednesday!

  • HEY DANIEL RADCLIFFE! loll sorry.

  • this was soooo amazing. i loved t when i saw it!

  • i got to see this on broadway ;)

  • brilliant. kelli o hara's voice is brilliance. loved it.

  • @sugarhoneyicedtea123 Kelly o'hara is my cousin

  • @Kaya876 like, totally no, she's MY cousin yo!!

  • @Kaya876 Ok we get it

  • I love kelli o'hara she is awesome!

  • love love LOVE HCJ.

  • I saw this just last fall! Looove this musical!

  • as much as i wanted gypsy to win best revival... south pacific really deserved it. this is wonderful.

  • i.love.this.

  • the first song they have great voices

  • Go Kelli, goooooooooooo!!! I LOOOOVE you.

  • I just saw South Pacific with these same performers at Lincoln Center last week it was EXCELLENT!!!!!

  • I saw this this weekend, it was great.

  • If you want to see a much better version, check out the YOUTUBE videos of the Reba McIntyre/Brian Stokes Mitchell version from Carnegie Hall. That is the Definitive version. It beats any version of South Pacific I've seen. For example, look for Brian's version of "This nearly was mine." It'll melt your heart.

  • Although I love Reba...no one can beat Kelli O'Hara. 'Nuff said.

  • Brian Stokes Mitchell is perfect, but Reba's performance leaves a lot to be desired.

  • This won because this is CLASSIC. The original movie is wonderful and this cast is great! every single song in this is GREAT and its a great story (racism, military, etc). Grease lost because lets face it, high school students bitching about virginity isnt "broadway" winning material. Look up video clips of GREASE on broadway..not that impressive

  • Agreed.

I'm personally not a fan of South Pacific, but I do think that it deals with some important issues.

    And the songs are classic.

  • But I think Sunday in the Park with George should have won.

  • Agreed.

  • Grease is not an impressive show in it of itself. We did it at our school and the best lines were ones ad-libbed by actors.

  • No, it shouldn't have.

  • which ones have you seen? You shouldnt judge unless youve seen both. I have, and SP was better.

  • THEN WHY DIDNT GREASE WIN?! See, i can be loud and obnoxious too, bro. Just enjoy the fact that you got to see 2 great shows and let it go, you whiner.

  • so much wrong with that little prase.

  • You mean Grease should HAVE won. And I still don't agree with you.

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • oh hello daniel!

  • i just love how she jumps around :)

  • why do they show dan radcliffe EVERY commercial break? haha quite humorous.
