.@rohitx3s Yep, they have made some changes on their site. But when you are on the 404 error page, just go to "downloads" in the navigation par at the top of the site. There are weekly builds and stable builds, I would recommend going to the stable builds page, scroll down to the Motorola Defy and click download.
@MrSparklePandaPerson Did you wipe data? Maybe do it again and also wipe cache and advanced- Dalvik cache. If the installation of the ROM was successful it should boot (btw which boot logo do you mean, the Motorola M or already the Galnet animation? And what was running on the Defy before?)
Rather send me a message if there still is something.
@Gizmolover39 Depends on many factors (like your speed and vsel settings of the processor). I think it has improved with the last updates, I have no real values but the battery life should be about the same, maybe a little less in some versions but my big favorite in terms of battery life is Galnet MIUI which even beats the stock Froyo time in my opinion.
@MrSparklePandaPerson You always wipe after installing? And what do you mean by flashing a fixed firmware, were you running 2.3.4 of the Defy+? Then you might have to flash a clean Froyo sbf before you install MIUI or CM7.
@Arjoma92 Okay, I think i got it now. I'm currently downloading clean Froyo and getting ready to flash it to my Defy. Then I root, get 2nd init, wipe everything, and use 2nd init to install Galnet MIUI from a zip. Right?
@MrSparklePandaPerson Sounds correct. So you are still running the Defy+ ROM? Then going back to 2.2 with RSDLite for a short time and then rooting again etc. to install the Galnet MIUI zip should be the right way.
@mrjazzyjeff86 The phone in the video is the old Motorola Defy (bought several months ago). But in this "old" Defy you see Android 2.3.4, and exactly the same software that runs in the new Defy+.
HELP i want to change android 2.3 to 2.2 can anybody help me, i have probmels with android 2.3 he tured off alone if i grab or if i navigate with gps help me PLEASE
@majidahmed14 I don't know where you live and where you buy your Defy. But theoretically every Defy you buy now should already be updated to Android 2.2. And if that's not the case you should just be able to search for the update and then install it. But if it still is not there (maybe because of a certain carrier) you can also install the Froyo update manually (download the official Motorola firmware on your PC and install it on your Defy with RSDLite.
But flashing 2.3.4 of the Defy+ shouldn't be that hard (OK,still no average user will do this but no average user wants Gingerbread as he may not even know about it).
I have never found Blur that bad, as I never really used it (other launcher already solves much). But if you're able to put the Defy+ software on the Defy you'd rather enjoy using CM7 or MIUI (although there's one thing I love about the Defy+'s software: screen turn transitions!! :)
@vikramtheone No idea if Motorola will bring a Gingerbread officially for the Defy (at least they have not said anything after they promised (and delivered) Froyo some time ago.
But obviously the Defy+ software works not that bad on the original Defy).
So we can just hope and wait (and Motorola sometimes takes a very long time) or just install another ROM.
@Arjoma92 Motorola will release official 2.3.4 software only for Defy+
since they want people to buy Defy + and not original Defy which will be cheaper now.
So you will be able to install the Defy + 2.3.4 rom on the original defy by hacking and rooting it but it will have MotoBlur in it. so its kinda of a waste.
@0155236987 The launcher I am using in the video is the much talked about and much loved Launcher Pro. in combination with Fancy Widget with some of skin as flipclock. Or do you want more information about my configuration (at that time btw, meanwhile I'm using ADW launcher EX with some new widgets...:) )
@0155236987 The whole launcher is called Launcher Pro. I have the Plus version (which costs a little bit) which has all the sense like widgets included (Contacts, Calendar, Bookmarks, Twitter...).
But you can also download the free version (without the Plus) and install Android Pro widgets (similar but cost also some money) or similar but free: Colorize Widget
@fightnight14 I see, that's annoying if you don't understand Chinese :)
You know where the settings are? (settings icon or when you're on the homescreen, press menu and select the settings gear wheel). Now in the settings go to the second tab (the one in the middle, with the airplane mode switcher) and scroll down. The language and keyboard settings are the 9th entry, the icon is a little keyboard, between the clock and the battery icon. If you go there you can just select English from the list.
Mate great job on tutorial u maded all look easy when u do it,gona try it myself I bought my defy week ago just interested does it need to be some special area code and will it work on my network? i bought the phone here in Serbia,my defy curentrly stock ver .Model :MB525 :Ap flex : Gas_Asia_Usajordanrthktw_p021:and this build number JRDNEM_U3_2.59.0
@Skeve85 Usually you should have reception for phone and data as the phone recognizes your SIM card when you power it it on and tries to log in into the network. (of course I don't exactly know how it's in Serbia).
If you still have reception problems you should just install Defy Baseband switcher (from goo. gl/0pvkG ;you have to delete the space in the URL) and switch the baseband!
@Arjoma92 can you tell me where's the language settings? I flashed the english pack yet it's still chinese .. I can't find the language settings I can't read chinese.
@AvidAngels As you see the language in the video is not Chinese (it's German by the way) but it is also available in some other languages (like English e.g.). But as far as I know the ROM is made somewhere on China and its original language is Chinese, also MIUI.com is in Chinese (I suppose, can't read it (: ) but there are many other sites in different languages (like miui-germany.de).
@chouettos you can down load an app which will make all letters bigger or smaller.
Besides it this update is hacking and not official update so if you don't know well computers then you won't need it. and if you know then its not a problem. enjoy the new phone, its a great device.
No, the MIUI themes are definitely not compatible with CM7 (also the ROMs share some similarities). Although there are some possibilities with the theme chooser on CM7, I love MIUI's huge advantages of being able to download a big number of themes directly, modify and mix them and change the look completely!
@xSuchutki If you like it one the Milestone I suppose you will also like it on the Defy (or maybe even more, I think the Defy has a faster CPU and more RAM). I definitely recommend it, it is better than the Defy's standard ROM in any case.
@pat1871 funny comment under this video (: but I don't want to be mean... I wrote some detailed instructions for my CM7 video, just look here: goo. gl/2sFX4 (delete the space after the goo. before you open the address, YouTube doesn't like URLs)
@spaik3r These themes word only with MIUI. You can either download the mtz files from the Internet and just open them with a file explorer or you go to settings - personal - theme where you can directly download almost 100 new themes (and even combine them).
BTW: I've put a website with the theme in the video and some great others into the description (including a nice dark one) .
@gladiatormohaa Of course battery life is always relative and depends on how you use the phone. I couldn't really test it in the last days but I rather think that it has become a little better (I'm pretty sure at least that it hasn't become much worse).

Hello
i am waiting for my new phone now. a Defy.
i would not like to say silly things, but i have the feeling that the keyboards and everything becomes smallest after this updates
and you know my eyes are not very good, and not so young, then personally i would think twice before do the upgrades
in another videos i have seen the white an black keyboard looking of the Defy ...
I will discover that in two days i think
but nice job !
perhaps for young and well working eyes :)
