Daniel Johnston being a deeply troubled manic depressive who was frequently in and out of mental hospitals at the peak of his fame - which ironically was brought on when Kurt Cobain refused to be photographed in anything BUT that shirt. Very distinct singing voice that wasn't for everyone - if you want the bigger picture I HIGHLY reccomend the movie The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
