  • I like the result! I made one similar if anyone wants to check it out and let me know what you think!! I didnt use AE though.. So no streaks

  • Uhhh....

  • fake!

  • CG?

  • omg, how that was awesome! where can you buy the LED lights?

  • it is fake

  • page not found in link, thanks

  • Do you still have this file saved? Could I get a copy? I just got done trying it in After Effects, but can't figure out how to make the light persist for as long as the image is drawn. It only lasts untl a second after I start the stroke.

    Thanks!

  • Unfortunately I don't have it saved. I do remember though, that the echo effect had a setting that has to do with how long the image sticks around. The effect wasn't really designed to be able to do this kind of work, so it's really CPU intensive.

  • Great teaching tool and thanks for the link with your explanation. Thirty years ago when I lived in Los Angeles I used to get a group of friends, head to the beach at midnight and do what we called Time Exposures. Same thing, but at the time it was on 35mm print film. Those prints are some of my favorites. I'm been trying to figure out for along time how they are doing these on moving images. Now I know. IGNORE the jealous people on You Tube who can't compliment the creative energy in you!

  • Hey there RollaSu -

Yeah, light painting has been around for quite some time. I'm not exactly how they do this effect in commercials, but I'm pretty sure they don't actually use LEDs to create the image. I think they just somehow draw it in post production.

I don't typically respond to flamers, but when they state things that aren't correct it'll cause confusion... so usually I'll address that.

  • Thats soo cool!

  • How do you do those tricks? I would love to know how to do it

  • Thanks for your interest jean - info on how I did all this stuff is in the link accompanying this vid. Hope you find that informative.

  • lol... jackass

  • Hi! I love your Video!

I just have one question... For the hat trick... when you paint the hat with the light, and you place it on your head... when you move your head, do you have to move the light hat manually in the editing or does the light hat "stick" to your head and it moves automatically?

  • Hey Macey -

Thanks for the compliments. As for your question - I keyframed the hat (manually) to move along with me.

  • damn that was sick nice video man

  • nice video effects very accurate

  • hmmm musta overlooked the 2

  • yeah... and ur a little kid

  • that WOZ and amazing fight but im not the one sucking cock.. u r, and uneducated swine like you should die in a fucking hole. total waist of space u r.

  • Hello,

Es ce que vous pouvez donner vos explications en Français ?????

    Merci beaucoup

  • Hi -

Sorry, I don't speak French. But try playing with this:

Echo effect in Adobe After Effects

  • phedhex - Thank you (Merci Beaucoup)

  • Great work!!

  • u people r stupid it took an hour of vidio editing in potoshop, and a neon render.

  • ??

First off, I didn't video edit using photoshop, a program designed to edit photos. I know it can handle video, but it can't do nearly as much as a video editing program.

Second - why fabricate how you think I did it after I've already explained how I did it? It's in the url of the video description. And no, it has nothing to do with neon rendering.

  • as far as i can see there is no direct link to an explanation or i cant find it and true video editing programs exist and i never said that u used photoshop but i did say u can do it in an hour, and with the right combination of filters AKA NEONRENDER u can acheve the same thing, plus i was talking about the idiots who think that this is forreal and no computer editing involved.AND YES IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WHITH A NEON RENDER IN "PHOTOSHOP" to achieve the glow look.. im right ur wrong GETOVER

  • There's a link in the description. Sorry I can't be by your side to explain how hypertext works.

You said that "it took an hour of vidio[sic] editing in potoshop[sic]." That's written as a (misspelt) factual statement. If you intended it to mean "it can be done with just an hour of video editing in photoshop" then you should have written it that way in the first place.

It can't be done with just an hour in photoshop. Spend an hour and prove me wrong.

  • Lastly, it has nothing to do with Neon Rendering. The neon effect makes non-glowing things glow. The light from the LED had enough glow - I didn't need to make it glow hotter - I just needed to make it stick. It probably has more to do with crop than it has to do with neon.

  • believe what u will i cant change your mind but u have much to learn................hay we r not all perfect, if my grammar and spelling was any good id write a book on how wrong u r and i will prove u wrong.... just as soon as i get photoshop cs3 and some spare time.

  • I'm not using crazy voodoo grammar, it's common sense. If I said "klenock8 typed his comments with his toes" it's not the same as saying "klenock8 could have typed his comments with his toes."

You said that I did it in photoshop with a neon render. There's absolutely no other way to read that.

I'm done with this flame war. I'll talk more as soon as I see a video like mine done with a Photoshop neon render.

  • He is absolutly correct i do type my comments with my toes what r u going to do about it make me type em with my nose

well if there is another way to read it "asuming u didnt read the comments below and ur a photoshop addict" it took an hour of vidio edditing ""***pause***"" and a neon render

ill get dat vidio and i will rotflmao as u apolagise

  • whoooohhhh is dat for real!! nice job dude!!

  • Nice. Looks so easy but if it does that it's always hard to do.

  • will you write on your blog a little bit on how you work that out? :-)

  • dun and dun. direct link to the post added to the video description.

  • wow! that was quick! thanks a lot for sharing! let's see if i can do it now. i am not very good with settings in the camera...that's why i've been using a Flip Video Camera (a super duper simple camera) for most my videos.

  • I used my logitech webcam. Works better than the camcorder I got because the shutter speed is much worse - had this video been w/ my camcorder, I wouldn't be drawing a line but a series of dots.

I'll send you the file. Take care.

  • that's really great! now i want to learn how to do that!

  • wow, that's awesome!

you're really creative, that must have been a huge amount of work. 5/5
