  • Point is: bjj is a self defense art. Where wrestling is, but more for fun

  • @Mousehop Wrestling is self defense but more known for sport

  • I was the 200th like!

  • Wrestling is wayyyy more tough physically and mentally than bjj

  • @Ironman4321wow depends on how you train, but in general, yeah it is

  • I took brazilian jiu jitsu for about a year and now I've decided that i want to have a wrestling background with my jits. I went to my first practice today and it was fucking insane how hard it was.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Always wanna cum inside right after you penetrate.

  • MOCK my fucking words all of the best wrestlers have wrestled at 125 Nickerson , Mills , Davis, many That Bubba guy from Arizona state , it is without a doubt the most competitive wieght class

  • 4 people had to wrestle barry davis

  • 4 people had to wrestle barry davis

  • great role model

  • 0:08

"It takes a lot of extra effort: weight lifting, running, and DYING"

    Ain't that the fuckin truth!!!!!

  • Can anyone tell me how much this guy weighed and how tall he was?

  • @MrPhenomenal7 i now for sure he wrestled at 125 lbs but i dont know how tall he is

  • @ajhidan100 Thanks man

  • Judo is something that should be practiced by every Gi practitioner. It will help you hit take downs on someone that you never would trying a half ass single or double, and you can catch someone off guard big time. UFC guys are using more Judo now because lets face it, there have been enough single and doubles now that people are evolving they need to think of something else. Hardcore judo practitioners will telly you BJJ, basically just Judo.

  • @LaurelRidgeR I think that grappling will evolve in much the same way martial arts in general evolved. Specific arts will still be practiced, but the totality will be considered much more. There will be much more cross training. BJJ, wrestling, Judo, Sambo, etc. They all run on the same body mechanics. The differences are only the the goal of each sport.

  • @Jonobos It already has. Did you see Frank Mir hit the Ashi Guruma/Harai against Roy Nelson? Unreal. If you see their grappling match where Nelson bests him on youtube, you will see how this is a application that is to be mastered.

Contrarily, I use a ton of wrestling in No gi, which many wrestling takedowns have origins as Judo moves or are the same but called something different. It is important to have a takedown game in ANY grappling, might as well learn everything you can.

  • @LaurelRidgeR Oh, I agree that it has already begun. It isn't as fully integrated as I think it will be. Not yet, but that is only because we still have a lot of the "old school" instructors around. As they retire, and their ideology of secrecy fades, things will open up more and more.

  • "I always want to cum on the inside"

  • Penetration is awesome!!

  • meep meep

  • That takedown dummy stuck on the wall looked pretty cool.

  • Wow holy shit I didn't know that keeping ur elbows down helped. I'm totally trying that during wrestling season when u lift up their elbows

  • @RedBlazer3s your always stronger with elbows in, grappling and wrestling, its extremely hard to manipulate an arm when the elbows are inside (close to the core) but its very easy when they are away from the core, very weak position.

  • i like how masterful barry davis is. effortlessly throwing the practice guy off balance and picking him up like its nothing without using any energy. thats true mastery of the sport.

  • however this wreslting takedown can use as a defense against punches, but one must do in right timmng when a person throw a punch, you at the same time do the take down

  • It blows me away how many people know nothing about wrestling, posting on here and shit critiquing barry davis, if you knew anything about wrestling you would not be critiquing him...just because you watch ufc and have taken 2-3 bjj or grappling classes doesnt mean you know shit about collegiate wrestling

  • @mark9455 Amen this is one of the better lessons ive seen on youtuve.

  • @mark9455 LMAO I've been doing BJJ, catch wrestling and wrestled for 2 years and BJJ is the epitimy of crap take downs. You're right, suddenly people with a tad bit of BJJ have something to say about wrestling.

  • @BF1 Totally agree with you on that one, I do judo in addition to BJJ just to work takedowns, and wrestled three years in college. Guys with strictly BJJ have no takedowns at all. The fight starts standing.

  • @LaurelRidgeR Now judo I have nothing to say I about, when I was 18 I did it for 2 years too, I cannot say now that I know Judo because I havent done it in awhile. But I did like Judo a lot when I did it. Btw I just did drill with a BJJ guy called sprawl and brawl. I was preparing him for his MMA fight. I was striker and he was the take down guy. We did 3 rounds for 2 minutes each and he never took me down one time. I proceeded to maul him each round. We have the same 2 year bjj training.

  • @LaurelRidgeR The reverse drill was done on me. I was take down guy and he was the striker. I took him down 5 times. 2 times each the first 2 rounds and once the final round.

  • @mark9455 Well said, it's not the same thing at all.

  • I've been wrestling since 5th grade and I love it. Nice video.

  • why does my coach say to go on ur knee after penetration and pivoting and putting your head in the side? which way is correct, not going on your knee or standing up like here, and head to the side or stomach? thanks a lot

  • @crazegeckko the take down you are probably talking about is the double leg take down. These are single leg take downs so you have to put your head to the stomach because it gives you more control over your opponents posture and balance. If you are doing double leg take downs do it the way your coach taught you.

  • @VJ732 nah man the chest the stomach is bad habit just as ben asken:)

  • @crazegeckko Your coach is either teaching you the double leg or the high crotch. This is the single.

  • This is good

  • Does he have some kind of video for this?If so id like to buy it.

  • I've never thought about something as simple as keeping your elbows in would make a difference. You never know what little detail you're missing. Thanks Barry.

  • penatration and coming inside? who said wrestling was gay......

  • the Core is everything !!!

  • Who's the other guy? The olympic gold medalist?

  • I always wanna cum on the inside- great stuff!

  • this is awesome, i have bee looking at lots wrestling tutorials and this is one the best on youtube

  • jesus this guy talks fast lol

  • This guy talks too much.

  • 0:34 broken neck!!

  • come on, where is the takedown?????

  • vintage rocks

  • Excellent technique. Very impressive.

  • Coach Davis is a great coach and a super guy. He just won NCAA coach of the year honors for the 2010 NCAA tourney. Congratulations coach and Go Badgers!

  • I always have problems with the single leg in wrestling but i always go to the double leg after i catch the single

  • vintage

  • i wrestle and i used this in an actual fight...simply awesome...lol

  • what about the finish? What way do you turn and drive once you have established good position with your single? Do you drive with your head towards the unattacked leg or do you turn away from his body with your arms?

  • after you get him onto his back you go straight for the pin

  • instant classic!

  • it the consept that counts

  • George St Pierre is great at mma. He is good wrestler. the technique that he demos in his video is a high crotch. His head is to the out side a strong sprawl and cross face would end that.

  • 535, you're a decent fellow and I acknowledge and agree with your response, right on.

kudoza, joe and meboz, et al (look it up)you guys are huckleberries. this guy is midget clown and a tool machine with the cheesy "march of the valkyries" music (look it up, too while youre at it)...he takes himself way too seriously for being such a putz and so do you.

  • The guy was a NCAA champ and an olympic wrestler. If you've ever wrestled you'll know this stuff works.

  • @bizzman22 Your a complete retard! Don't even bother posting shit on youtube

  • Great Video for all wrestling levels.

  • Penetration is very important :)

  • @hungry4cumminspwr that's what she said :D

  • who cares what year it is idiot just learn the technique or dont fucking watch the video

  • yo bizzman. you dick, these are wrestling techniques, not jiu jitsu / muy thai techniques. i love going against bias asses like you in the gym , taking you down and turning your face into roast beef. then if i feel like it, choke the fuck out of you or let you stand up and run a strikink clinic on your dumb ass. learn your combat sports and put them together you "TOOL"

  • Yea you're so right. I mean, he only won NCAA three times, and a silver at the Olympics! WTF is that?

  • you are the most idiotic person i've met.. hellloooooo the title says wrestling doesn't it?

and ive been wrestling for five years and im pretty sure u cant get knee'd in the face or choked illegally

  • Um,,,,,its college wrestling, not UFC, and not a street fight.

  • your a dick bizzman its just wrestling not mma dumb ass

  • bizzman, first of all this is an instrunctional video for wrestlers. I train jiu jitsu and im watching this to get better takedowns and the single leg hes doing prevents a choke since his head is on the inside of the leg and the position is secured. As for the knee if u use a modified version of this move in a street fight in which u dont have to go so low then yea it will work wonderfully. BUT THE VIDEO DOES SAY WRESTLING so i dont know why u brought up knees or choking which are not wrestling.

  • @bizzman22 barry davis could kick ur ass

fuck off and buy another tapout shirt at the mall u dumbass

  • "i always want to come on the inside" ;)

  • don't we all?

  • great job. the only thing i'd like to see is actuall examples. in normal motion. after he's done teaching the move.

  • Great video and Great teacher. Thank you very much.

  • weight lifting, running and dieing. lol. GO BARRY!

  • Head inside = spladle?

  • stfu and wshow the single leg takedown!

  • Loved this video.

  • goods stuff.

  • i wish we got taught that at school here in the uk, kids over here are just wrapped in cotton wool to much

  • I wholeheartedly agree. The U.K. sucks for education in sport.

  • OMFG..... This is why wrestling has the best takedowns. Got this guy trying to teach me judo. Its not bad. But not better than freestyle. Thanks Barry!!

  • Shut the fuck up man..

  • shut ur fuckin bitch ass up any who has ever stepped on a fucking wresling mat could fuck u up

  • HE'S A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great video, thanks.

  • im looking for a nice take down that works every time and is hard to defend

if anyone could help just send me a message

  • takedown or throw?

  • Nothing works 100percent of the time, but Single legs and double legs are good takedowns. I'm not much into the Judo I'd prefer Wrestling for takedowns

  • awesome video

  • nice

  • I miss wrestling. :( I hope one day my college makes a wrestling team.

  • Start a wrestling club. That's what I'm going to do.

Look into catch wrestling too. American folk-style wrestling is the amateur version of catch.

I'm actually looking to make a grappling club and maybe become a catch wrestling club.

  • great.
