befor you start washing the material out of the pan you need to fill it with water and just shake it back and forth to get all the gold to sink down to the bottom then get a fan and wash the top of the fan off then agitate it again then wash it til you get just the heavy stuff then you backwash and tap. look up a video on here called the backwash and tap method
please dont take this wrong but you need a better pan and a little lessons on how to pan. buuuut! i admire your spirit and say keep prospecting welcome to gold fever..lol
ive got a few different pans and it sems i always go back to my 5 dollar bimart pan like this one ha ha the garrett pan is good but i still like the cheapo better lol

i like my cheap pans for down on the river too. my blue pan i like for home and doing finishing work. yep those 5 dollar pans you cant beat them....

my next purchase is one of those small finishing pans that are about the size of a cereal bowl.
