Rolling Stoner's magazine just put out their 100 greates guitar player list, and Steve isn't even on it. BUT PRINCE IS?????????? Absolute JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
@whatisthenork I was trying to think of a comment that expressed that thought and you said it perfectly! LOL at Crypt Keeper!! Perfect description of that guy! Those rockers don't age gracefully, that's for sure!
@Gman6755 Funny, cause when I saw this, I thought, "Who's the younger guy filling in for Carl Palmer on drums?" Then I realized, that *is* Carl. Dude looks about twenty years younger than the rest of the band.
What do you care of Steve Howe's hair or whatever? Watch out fellow Youtubers, there are ijots out there. By the way, that DVD filmed in front of a very polite Japanese audience is quite good. remember seeing ASIA at Dayton Hara Arena in 1982 or so. We drove up from Cincinnati as we often did. In face, I'v seen Steve Howe in five differnet cities, and an unknown number of venues. However, I am not a YESHEAD. I just love great musically performances and Yes is right up there in the top tier
@ThomasBSenior Steve Howe has a receding hair line. Steve Howe has jacked up teeth. But Steve Howe don't care. Steve Howe don't give a shit. He just plays that badass guitar.
This is great work by Howe. That's a Gibson ES-Artist, from the early 1980s. Gibson made "Artist" versions of the ES-345, the SG, and the Les Paul - they had onboard compressors and other active circuitry, designed and built by Moog. Other ES-Artist differences are the dual pickguards and the absence of F-holes.
One of the most fiery Howe solos is on the studio version of "Time Again," from the first Asia album...there's a hook in there that I just don't get how he came up with.
Steve Howe can rock it out with the best of them. Saw him with Asia last year and he was going great. Played with a lot more freedom and energy than when I saw him with Yes. I bought the CD of the gig, (supposedly from the mixing desk) but he was way down on the mix to the extent he is almost inaudible. A real shame, and not a true reflection of the sound I was getting, because, just as he is here, he was really enjoying himself. And playing like a demon!
@jocovo84 It's different than his usual Yes fare b/c Asia is more of a pop band with progressive elements. If you listen to his Yes work, the guitar truly takes a role of its own, almost like an instrument in an orchestra... It's not necessarily flashy but adds a different texture to the overall piece of music. Looking forward to see Asia in NY next month
@Jefferson1276 Trust me...I've heard all of his work. With Yes, GTR, Asia, solo, etc. and this is one of the best fitting and most energetic solos I've ever heard him play. His Yes stuff is truly brilliant, too! :D
