in my opinion its better to do this, because to maximise effectiveness of the 96969, you need to change the rotation just a tad each time

Macro 1: Holy shield, HotR, Consecrate, SoR, JoW, HotR

Macro 2: Holy Shield, SoR, Consecrat, HotR, JoW, SoR

first just spam macro 1 until second HotR, then spam macro 2 till second SoR

this takes full advantage of the GCD, and maximizing threat

Yea, man that makes it so easy, lol. In a perfect situation, however, try this with a group of players you dont know, and who may do anything, then youll need actual tanking knowledge. But what ya gonna do when you notice your health dropping, then you notice your healers health dropping ? These 2 macros will not save your group, and depending on these will put you in that situation quickly,,

for those that whant to test TPS out on dumy use SOW, JOW, DP and BOW

Keep in mind that with SOV u will have more TPS but u will loose too much mana too fast on the dummy if u don't use SOW...

I'm going to put these macros on 1 and 2 but i'll keep the abilities also on 3 to 9 ico! And using hand of reckoning and devine plea manual owns 2.

And for the ppl who get oom i say this:

In the protection tree is a talent which will refresh your devine plea everytime you autoattack a target.

This is good if u have full aggro, but many times in icc there are situations where more adds might get pulled and such, if u need to wait for ur macro to show a spell that u need in any specific moment it might make it harder on you in intense situations.

@IIKeRsEyII You're recieving no healing and you're not dodging any incoming attacks. Spiritual Attunement and Blessing of Sanctury are the talents which will affect this.

Why do you make two seperate macros? Since you use one 9cd ability, 6cd, 9, 6...

Why don't u make just one macro?

After concecration you use hammer which doesn't happen my way. But Holy shield ends the cd at the same time.

got a little issues and not sure what to do about it...on my 9 second macro id prefer to open the fight with consecrate as to grab more mobs. sometimes my 9 second macro ends on judgment, so next fight i have to open with that instead..anyway to get around that?

@Zan0ra this wouldnt change due to the patch, as those 5 spells are still named exactly the same and used for the same purpose. The cast sequence command simply tells the macro the order in which to use each spell. That doesnt mean you can press the button once and get up from your computer. Just that the macro will alternate between spells each time you press the button.

It is possible that the DPS outgears you enough that even with your Rightious fury active, and a great heroic set up, that you can still have aggro ripped right off you. Keep gearing up ,and if it is still happening, then you might have a skill missing or crappy dps without omen

Paladin tanking is so boring, you just mash concecrate and shield of right, it's bloody broken we don't even do anything different for bosses, you don't see warrs or dks spamming tc/dnd while tanking bosses, why we gotta spam concecrate plz blizz make prot pallys less mindless in cata.

i watched this video and id like to point out something that you tanks out there might wanna pay attn to. This guy clearly doesn't know to use shield of righteousness after holy shield for the bonus to your block value which in turn makes your sor hit harder this is why my tank isnt allowed to ot i keep pulling off people who listen to generic advise like this, and @ gypsydog2 u do not get mana back for judgement of light unless another pally casts it use wis or justice.... trust me your wrong

This was the case for some time with the usage of certain librams. Allthough with the current 2400ish Block Value cap I doubt you will find a lot of people using these Librams, again theorycrafting, go to maintankadin.

Libram of the Sacred Shield could do what you are saying here, and still even then Holy shield had 10 sec uptime (with bosses that hit slow and hard so the uptime usually was more then enough) Nobody uses that libram because its outdated.

Unbelievable how cirtiqued a posting like this gets. The 969 rotation is great to use while NOT putting out a fire. I use the macro while the situation is under control and I just need to hold agro. If anyone thinks this was supposed to auto pilot pally tanking, I think u took it the wrong way. I have plenty other OH SHIT buttons ready at hand, but found a use for this macro so thanks for posting.

This may be good for new tanks learning the rotation, but once you get into more complex encounters, I would definitely recommend having all 5 spells on separate buttons, simply for the increased flexibility.

Take Deathbringer saurfang: I must avoid using hammer and cons when blood beasts are about to spawn, or else I may grab aggro on them. With 5-buttons I can reroute my rotation to account for that, with 2-button, I'm stuck.

@SuperShiningSun you can just wait a few secs untill your dps picks up the beasts and just continue, if 1 or more beasts isnt being targetted your dps is basically doing it wrong anyways. And the cleaving/whirlwinding warriors will have equally a lot of trouble.

Using taunt to maintain your position on the aggrotable is not only poor tanking, it's downright hazardous. Dimishing return immunities apply to taunts as well. A taunt immune boss is not fun having on rampage in the raid

Excellent Video and those macro's worked a treat

I had to tweak in "/castsequence reset=6 Hammer of Righteous, Shield of Righteousness" and "/castsequence reset=6 Holy Shield, Judgement of Wisdom, Consecration" only because it wouldnt reset at the end of a fight and a reset=target would mess the macro up especially if you killed a mob during the middle of a sequence and the sequence reset before the first spells had finished on the Cool Down.

With respect to those who say this Macro doesnt work I would have to disagree because I found this highly improved my Agro holding and once I used these, I never saw a cool down in progress since. Tips to anyone who wishes to use this I would definately give it a go, try tanking with it and if it fails for you, you tried :)

I use a 9696 roation macro too, but I don't get why everyone is all in an uproar about it. If things start going squirrely and you need to do something else.... STOP USING THE MACRO. If your smart enough to manually do 9696, you should be smart enough to stop using the macro and click something else. People who play WoW are so freakin spaztic. Get over yourselves!

Its really not advised that you create a macro to cover your tanking while you go afk and nom on strudels, (Strudel nomming on Putricide is a baad) - The fact is, while your tanking your going to encounter things that need improvisation, a fights never going to be the same if your tanking, unlike say what a dps would have to do (Not dissing you dps guys and girls :P) - Plus well, this would make tanking boring.. What you should do is the following, use judgement of wisdom as stated in the video. Before a pull you want to use Divine Plea and as long as you have the talent Guarded by the light maxed, you should be able to have it up at all times. (hitting critters works to longer times between pulls). and for blessings, you should be using greater blessing of sanct which restores mana as well as dmg reduction and str increase
