@Hannover1980 What the heck are a "youtube boner" or a "Honk" anyway? I just took your reply for what it is, and I expressed my opinion. I did NOT insult you personally, I was speaking generally in my comment.
If you don't care about other people's opinions, you probably shouldn't be posting here at all. It's pointless.
If you're willing to attempt a constructive debate, I am open, and if you're not, I apologize for replying to you.
@Hannover1980 it is boring only if you have the attention span of a goldfish, but for those of us who possess a bit more maturity and intellect, we can also appreciate this -very inspiring- interpretation of the song.
I have been playing guitar for nearly 30 years now, and I play this song out, and I played it like the studio version, and also just with my acoustic guitar and with the piano, and people loved it.
When a song is THAT good, and you give it justice, people will love it regardless!
Most musicians I know (I'm a drummer myself) don't consider any of the Police to be currently in their prime.
If there's any doubt in Stewart's case, just watch the Live Synchronicity concert from 1983. Stewart still has fire, but he's not the young man he was twenty years ago.... there's a definition to his playing back then that's simply not present in his drum kit approach today. I'd say the same thing about Neil Peart as well. Neil isn't what he was in the 80's any longer.
@larkydozer if a guitarrist, as i am, thinks 'bout setups on listening songs, he isn't able 2 reflect whats goin on. its not easy to accept things change. i heard all bandmembers in the 80's and 07 live. i heard no drumkit, no no. there was a thick filigran carpet of sound ... grewn up band
to be in #1...i think the beatles are the only ones able to be in that place. Not to the diss the police, they're much better than any band(Talking heads, u2, oasis, men at work..and more) . They are truly gods of rock and music.
he does a lot in this song... he's a talented drummer, as well as an excellent musician. i don't know of many "hardcore" drummers that could do what he does!!!
Stewart and Sting still skinny.
