I just about bought a Ducati, but Ended up with a nice Gixxer. Ducati is my dream bike as well, but I can't get over that sound. I love the looks and their performance but they sound like crap when they idle. Like I need to grab a wrench and look for a loose screw...

not true. you can't ride them WITHOUT keeping up with maintenance like a honda, but the maintenance isn't extraordinary, especially on current models: oil change every 3K to 7500miles, maintenance at 7500 miles then 15K, etc.

changing your own oil is super easy, regular parts like brake pads, belts are cheap.

It IS a premium bike though. Your riding a Patek Phillipe, not a Seiko.

+1 though the gsxr is a formidable bike you cant go wrong choosing one of the two i personally would rather pay for a ducati. only guys repping it for europe in a japanese dominated market
