for caramel popcorn i just put even portions of white sugar and butter in the pan with about a tablespoon of cornsyrup and some salt. just cook it until it caramelizes (don't stir, just gently swirl the pot) and then pour it over the popcorn and mix. makes nice cronchy caramel corn.
i just tried making some popcorn with sriracha but i was dumb and burned the hot sauce :(

The comment about "popcorn being healthy" is just wrong. Humans do not need to eat "fiber" other than what comes from vegetables and fruits. Plus if anything, eating corn made in corn oil will only lead to heart disease. Humans also were not meant to eat polyunsaturated fats. Eating corn products will only lead you to obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
@theboo222 Heh. Yeah and I'm sure wheat and barley are just angels in your book. If you deny the power of carbohydrates to slow the pain of hunger then you sir are simply a monkey. . . We need fillers in our lives. I'll admit we eat so much corn it's silly but that's in sodas, candy bars, ice cream and the meat we eat also grows on corn. BUT corn isn't inherently evil, it's our processing and over consumption of it. AB home popped corn is much better because it will fill you up and it's cheap.
These ideas look great! Must try the cracker jack one.
Sometime my family would put the oil from a giardiniera jar on freshly popped popcorn. It is very subtle and tastes very good if you like giardiniera .
did you know if you fill a glass to the brim with milk and fill an equal sized glass with pop-corn, and placed it in one by one, it won't spill over! works like a charm
I read somewhere to add a bit of sugar to home popped corn. I put about a tsp in the oil after it heats up and before I add the corn and it's so addictive. Mmmm popcorn...
I know it so good I tried it right after the show and it was so good. I only do it with air popped popcorn though. for some reason i dont think i wanna eat cereal with oil and salt in it lol. hmm i think i might make some now!

Cool - I'm a popcorn addict. I like how you can doctor it up and go for savory, sour or sweet!

I'd hate to see what grinding salt (a rock) in your FP does to the blade! Just buy pickling salt!

I love salt and pepper on mine. The popcorn for breakfast would be pretty good with cinnamon and brown sugar I think.

I like air poppers best, but you have to poor on butter and then sprinkle salt for best taste.
notausertoday 3 years ago
try popcorn with fresh cracked pepper & salt or with freshly ground (mortar & pestle) smoked salt salt (no, it doesnt make it taste burnt)
