oh man this is pure gold. thank you very much for this, can you put more please? could you put entire concert? that would be really great. thanks anyway, this has just made me happy, thanks
@mrprogjazzgto probably, this was when Mclaughlin was on top of the electric guitar world, one year removed from the amps to sit on the carpet and playing with Shakti another killer group.
lorioftheforest ~ WORD TO THE MOTHER ~ very well put. This is from the days when you used to have to PLAY to be considered musician. I'm Sorry for the young bloods who don't have inspiration like the 70's
They don't make them like these fellows anymore..And that's really sad. Beware you are in the presence of greatness here and woe unto those who are too weak minded and uneducated to recognize this.
@triofdoom I think it has something to do with the decrepit music industry. These guys had inspiring, talented, genius musicians to look up to when they were very young, and it started them on a musical journey. No body is coming out like this because (for one thing you wouldn't know, because you would have to go out of your way to find them.. and) kids these days aren't exposed to any good or inspiring music on such a wide basis. I think it is that simple. (In my humble opinion.)
Hey Walter it's an honor to hear from you. Just wanted to let you know, that I bought Power, Passion & Beauty a few years ago and I think its amazing. Can't wait to get Follow your Heart.

These were the times to go see bands like this jam..
If you look real hard, you can see smoke coming from John's fingers...LOL

I think bands still like to jam but the corporate machine feels otherwise.
Just an inconvenient truth.
Ponty is defiantly out gunned here.

Jean Luc does a great job here..even with John's smokin riffs

the citation is ERIC CLAPTON'S LAYLA. Great interlude between JOHN and JEAN-LUC !
the best thing happens at 5:39 the entry of the whole band like an explosion.
