Meg Ryan was a great lead for these kinds of movies. She seemed like a normal woman. Nowadays we have Katharine Heigl, who we're supposed to relate to? Like a bombshell like that would be alone for five seconds? Not to say that Meg Ryan was ugly, but she wasn't an unrealistic model and it was nice. Kathleen Kelly wasn't some cliched control-freak, no-nonsense, uptight shrew like many romcom "heroines" today.

I'm sorry but am I missing something. Hanks see's Meg in cafe, realizes who it is, goes in later pretending to be none the wiser and does not tell her his true identity as the man she is talking to online. He then develops a relationship with her under this falseness and uses this to his advantage to etc. I was expecting him to get his his just deserts when she realized it was him all along and then that he would have to go chase after her and win her back. What he did was awful imo.

That was such a sweet, moving final scene. Loved the shrug he gives, because he was so scared he would disappoint her by being the same guy who took everything that she had known away from her. He had asked her if she *could* forgive him for that, and she didn't answer ... so he didn't know what would happen when he revealed himself. And when she sees him, she feels everything at once, and is glad it was him, because she had fallen in love with him in real life AND online. Loved the kiss!

Having lived thru that 90's computer dating scene, this movie was just that short stroke away from success. It just didn't ring true enough, and therefore made it too clear that I was watching a movie, the kiss of death for any love story. You'd rather be caught up in it. But in reality, the female lead should have punched him. Not gonna happen. Poor screenplay/production, in having the male lead show boundless deceipt, then play from an unfair position of power & expect love in return.

There's something about this movie that makes you want to watch it over and over again . In this movie were all hoping somehow they would meet , and sure enough they did, it brought a tear to my eye.
