I followed Buchanon closely as a Raider. In his Raider days he made many huge plays but he was constanely burned in coverage as well. Take a look @ Brett Favre's game after his dad died. Buchanon was benched after the first half after getting torched by Favre.
He was often picked on as a Raider due to Charles Woodson being on the other side. He was a big reward/high risk player in Oakland. However, his lack of tackling ability eventually outweighed his big play ability and he was traded.
phillip loved oakland and the fans, he got in to it with the gm @ the time and he wanted to be traded....the gm tried to black ball him...ad wanted him to stay bad... but phil was young and just wanted to move on....he is still the same player just had to get back in to the right def..sho time!!!!!!
He was amazing for the Raiders for his three years there. He's not bad as a Buc too, but since 2004 he hasn't been that unbelievable playmaker he was shown to be in this video and on the part one.
shutdown corner all day.. n was a mentor to oak number #21 as a rookie.. most over looked player at his position.. last year for the buc's he shut down his side.. the whole year.. and the bucs biggest problem steve smith..
you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Nnamdi said his mentors were Rod Woodson and Charles Woodson. You can count on one hand how many times he was burnt in the Brett Favre "day after dad died" game in '03. You're judging his whole career off his Bucs days. There's a reason OAK traded him, Houston let him walk. His play had fel off considerably due to him often looking for INTs more than covering his assignment. Now, he's a solid cover man and good tackler, but not a playmaker.
he cant tackle

I had the same observation... he was a liability at coverage sometimes!! I think it was his confidence!! He did show flashes of brilliance though.

Why did they trade him? He is athletically gifted. Are the raiders blind?
grant21999 3 years ago
He kept getting beat deep and he didn't really wanna be there
RaiderFade 3 years ago
So he just hated being in Oakland?

He didn't hate being there it's just lost consistency so we traded him. When was his last pick 6? 2004

He isn't/wasn't a shutdown corner. He's a playmaker. High risk high reward type of player.

He was great for the bucs last year. But I think that what because of the system. Let's see what he does in Detroit, he's a great player.
