As far as Medical and Other Benefits, the business owner has to pay out of their own pocket to be covered by insurance and any other extras they would like to have. Just because you own a business doesnt mean you get coverage for free.

Quixtarisascam, that depends on your definition of approved is. If a business model gets the "ok" to operate from the FTC then I consider that an approval to do business. does the FTC have to like/love a business to approve it.
As far as the failure rate goes, I got that from a friend who has his own computer business store and has been operating it for about 10 years now. He told me himself, but I'll find some source somewhere to make you happy.

registering, NOT RECRUITING, is a part of the business that is Amway/Quixtar. There are 3 parts to this biz:
1) Buy products from the biz to use for yourself.
2) Retail products to customers for profit and increased PV/BV volume.
3) Spread the word about this business oppurtunity and help people attain income goals through sponsorship.
You need ALL THREE to have a successfull and balanced business. Not one or two, but ALL THREE.

The 1979 FTC ruling set forth many rules that are being broken by IBOs today. Amway made a set of rules to meet the grievances that the FTC had. However, the rules are impossible to enforce. For example, responsibility for compiling with the 70% rule is placed on the IBOs. IBOs have no motivation for following the 70% rule and it is impossible for Q* to verify if it is being complied with.

About the partner stores, how does it not add credibility to the business model? I wouldn't want to put my multi-million dollar business on the line dealing with some shady company. Quixtar is a billion dollar company with a team of lawyers and accountants and they could not determine that Enron was a sham. Did Quixtar want to associate itself with a sham/Enron? Enron being determined to be a sham does not make Quixtar a sham simply by the virtue of having Enron as a partner store. The reverse is also true. Having legitimate companies be partner stores with Q* does not make Q* legitimate. The legitimacy of a company is not determined by whom their partner stores are.

The guy showed me a bunch of pictures of fancy cars, homes and other items. He talked about how easy it was to make a lot of money with very little time and effort.
