The Laser disc has the alternate ending. Jimmy Hunt and the other actors were called back a time later to shoot that alternate scene. Hair difference is noticable with all three actors plus Jimmy Hunt's vest.
i remember the glass incased alien with the tennacles sticking out just a quick still shot with no movie title identifying it, so its a pleasure to see ithe movieat last in its entirity a very good one that treated kids as adults, so its a good message there, for even kids want to be hero's if only in thy're imaginations.

i first saw this in 1962-3.i was about 7yrs old..it scared me so bad i would not even leave curtins back while fallng to sleep looking at the sky at night for fear i would see what that lil boy saw..i jus a little younger than he..so i know how felt..i also had a night mare the leader was standing at my front door in my apt. he was about 3ft tall..scared me to death this was in 1963 when i had the night mare i still remember that little green man with the ball head..stairing at me.
Awesome movie, one of my faves. Where did you get this version? Laser Disc? I noticed in the observatory we see Jimmy Hunt in a vest for a mere moment. the screwy vest scene (as he wasn't wearing a vest in the rest of the scene) was added to the UK version which also includes a discussion of UFOs. The original US version should not have any scene of the vest, but I think I heard there are different cuts/edits from various sources. Still need to see the rest of the parts for other anomalies...

I watched it all! Enjoyable enough.
Should you interest falter midway, go directly to part 7 and 8, the best of the movie.
