@swaptronics Yep, Bigger is better. FYI - This little amp had the Triode transformer bundle and choke used. I built it to capture the low volume champ vibe and I will readily agree that a 8" speaker leaves a lot to be desired.
I find no challenge in building with a Turret board. I enjoy designing and building much more than assemly work.
Buolders all have their own styles. Mine works for me.
I've built several 5F2 amps on turret boards and with a 12" speaker that blow this little thing away. An 8" speaker sounds like crap with a tweed princeton circuit. The best transformers (original specs) can be found at triode electronics--you get a PT, OT, and Choke for $89 in a bundle. The choke makes all the difference in the world--strings loosen up and tone is supreme. Point to point without a turret board is shit in my opinion. A clustered mess of wires you cannot service easily.
That's a great sounding amp. I found the video because I was looking for a sound bite of a Jensen p8r speaker. I want to put one in my silverface vibrochamp.
It does make a champ sound louder and more pronounced. I am assuming that the circuit the Little Red Rooster is based on a Fender Tweed circuit. I am doing a mod on the vibrochamp to get a tweed tone.
Great playing!

You will not believe how good this speaker sounds in a fender champ.

Sweet! In addition to loving vintage ham gear I'm also a musician so gotta say the amp sounds fantastic. Uh, oh, I may need to build one.

The audio begins at 43 seconds in to the video after the introduction of the Amplifier. The first 42 seconds are pictures only (no sound)
