Next Planning Board Meeting: Thursday September 16th, 7 p.m., 120 Washington Street, 3rd Floor. This is a public meeting...anyone can show and voice their concerns. Hope to see you there
Joyce, Sarah, Alex, Andrew, Mike, and Matt: Thank you for putting this video together. Having lived in Salem for 40 years I am shocked an horrified at what the current administration is trying to do to my home city. From dishonesty re: "Text Amendments" to lack of notification to suspect back room dealings it needs to be stopped.
Yeah! Master Market Realty is right! Who needs nature these days? Screw local businesses! We need more low income jobs, dam it. We need a newer version of mediocre architecture!
This video DOES NOT contain all the facts. Get the facts. Show up at a meeting or read an entire article now and then. Both Salem and Lynn desperately need the tax revenue and JOBS these businesses will create.
Also the Wal-Mart that is there needs to be updated. Just like any park, school, home or municipal building that age. It is old and I"d rather see a new Wal-Mart that an old, run down Wal-Mart any day,
@MastersMarketRealty Yes it is true that the Salem Walmart needs an update. Looking at this video I notice the currant lot is plenty of space for a nice remodel.
As for the jobs you suggest. Cashiers and people who stock shelf at Walmart earn less than $9.00 an hour. That is not a job that will allow the worker a living wage. If the plan is seen through, it is safe to say other existing jobs along Highland Ave will have to be eliminated. So it will even it out.
i think 2HHB is doing a great thing salem has been my home for 11 years and even though i moved i still go back some times and this really pisses me off salem has very few woods as it is..and IF there are any animals still left which i doubt cause of ppl like Driscoll saying its ok to cut down the trees...if there was a better way to protest this i would
and also, you mention undeveloped land in Alaska (for now), your words, and Vermont. That just says to me that you KNOW this is a problem and you are not ok with this, so why are you acting so blase about all this? Why is this ok with you and why are you willing to just sit back and let it all happen? Do you want more of this shite in your back yard? Come on man! (and BTW, sorry for calling you an idiot before, unless you unleash a shite storm on me, then idiot stands.)
Hey "Hang" How about you grow a back-bone and START WHINING with the rest of us? So this is how it's been,? For decades, so we just have to go with the status quo? Is that your answer? So happy you are saving time on your commute. After all, in the end, it is all about you. Idiot.

Update: the development is DEAD. Major victory for both Salem and Lynn residents!!
