SketchUp: Creating eaves for buildings with pitched roofs

!WRONG! the eaves should sit lower then wall height. this process would make your model incorrect

when I join up the inference points it doesn't make a face .Having made a group in blue there appears to be another group in grey outline at 2.26 what is that ?
