Great videos. However, your trucks seem weak. They look like European style fire apparatus meant to fight smaller structures. Australia looks very similar to the USA so you need some beefier apparatus :D
@chechnya In Britain, our appliances are smaller than the US but mainly because if they were the size of US machines, they wouldn't fit through our streets- not because they're meant to fight smaller fire. We a lot more fires, per fire station, in the UK than the US.
We have American trucks here. They are the worst pieces of junk ever to have served in this country. The International ACCO and Scania trucks are a cut above the Freightliner / America La France trucks.
back in the good ole days before 1 3/4 hose, and 1 1/2 preconnects we laid a lot of booster hose and if we couldn't get which was very rare we backed it up with a "big line" 2 1/2" it worked well for more than 30 years. It took experience, and judgement to know when to pull and when not to. You dont learn that from books. It worked very well. Bigger water is smarter now, To many tsituations out there to ruin your day. Keep Safe Guys
High pressure reels are more than adequate for aussie homes where fires are more likely to be confined to room of origin. Structural firefighting is different in the US mainly due to building construction and attack tactics.
correct me if im wrong but i thought that all victorian fire trucks had hose ramps to stop any vehcles from driving over the lines and damaging them..
na man cars cant wreck it, on the pumper they are using 38 mm durlaline witch we are trying to get rid of cous it is shit but yer cars wont stuff it up
The first attack line they get out is the live reel and then you see 38mm canvas for the exposures. Definitely some duraline in the street though, hard to tell but may have been 64mm boosting from the tanker.
Point Cook pumper had been called to another job - they advised the MFB crew who released pressure from their hose so no damage would be caused when the pumper drove over it. I have found it's always best not to pass judgement on other peoples actions unless you are fully aware of all the details.
As far as I'm aware the pumper had already been released and the crew was in the process of making up when the second job came through. Point Cook pumper wouldn't have been responded if it was still involved in the initial job.
up until when did the mfb primarily use scania's instead of the international accos?

@chechnya Mmmmm...thought it was the firefighters that put out fires... seems I was wrong.
It's not just the equiptment but how you use it.

@k2svpete Using more and more duraline cause it doesn't need to be dried like canvas.

Why didn't they stay on scene and have Hoppers turn out?
I still don't understand how the CFA just releases appliances at a job, rather than respond the next nearest appliances to a new job.
