I searched for a version that would suit my taste - I heard a lot of versions, but since the second I saw Ella' name, I knew - this is it. What a lovely interpretation.
@Zundaerazylym no one person could define what REAL music is but you do have the right to have a favorite genre of music.I love lady gaga and i also love ella and mozart and eminem.

I never used to like Ella Fitzgerald's singing but recently after listening to 40's stars such as Martha Tilton and Helen Forrest, she is growing on me. i love this song and I have recordings of it by several artists one of my favourites being Billie Holiday.
What could I add to the marvellous moment I have just spent listening to Ella Fitzgerald? No one can describe talent and genius. So sit or lay down, close your eyes and listen... Thanks a lot for posting this. A great admirer from Switzerland.
This video BETTER have 0 dislikes. If it had 1, that person must be tone deaf to not appreciate one of the best singers during the great period that is the jazz era.
In an era of gadgetry, the Internet, and Gaga Bieber rap-pop-something stars, in the age of sex and chicks and clubs, not one modern star has turned out something so timeless, so genuine, and so *good* as the music of the Jazz era.
@Zundaerazylym Agreed! The contemporary genres are far from transcendent. In fact, they are considerably awful. Like an odor that you cannot dispel, the current musical trends seem to linger uncontrollably in a most unwelcome manner. What ever happened to music that floated into the ear and pleased the senses? It must have died with chivalry and common sense. God help us!
There are some good songs from the contemporary music genre but it's a diamond in the rough and believe me you have to look REALLY hard to hear anything good. The days of music that had classy, beautiful and meaningful lyrics and singers who were serious about their craft and released quality music are over! The music industry has changed alot and they care more about looks & appearances rather than talent. Ella has more talent around her finger then these singers today.
What a beautiful, angelic, sweet, tender voice Ms.Ella had.I have been listening to her since I was about 6 or so.And here I am 62,and she still intoxicates me.She is my therapy when the world get a little too much for me.We who love her are so lucky to have everything she did on CD so we can enjoy her forever.
@kandjlove95 It's not weird at all, nothing to feel uncomfortable about. When i was your age i was reading about this music, listening to it and trying to play it. That was in the 70's...this music is from the 50's. I still listened to Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and the Beetles like everyone my age but this music is special. My daughter calls it my serious music. :-)
still prefer Etta J's version...

what instrument gives a solo in the later half of the song?

@jordanlong222 That's a trumpet with a mute (a cone-shaped thing in the open end of the instrument which chokes the sound).
