  • it has some advantages no youtube vid rly showcase.

one which is very rarely talked about is the very simple firesafety

which is baseicly a nobrainer ( press with your firefinger to fireposition )

and you can use it without practicly any practicing.

and the most important designfeature is the weaponsystems simplicity.

when i served my turn at the austrian army we had a corporal who could completly disassemble and reassemble the entire weapon all in 23 seconds lying in the barracks hallway

  • kicks the sa80s asshole any day

the steyr AUG a1 is proudly used by the Irish army (Oglaigh na hEireann) as their standard service rifle.

and is also used by australia and austria, and numurous special forces around the world.

so the aug a1 has been in use since 1978 to this very day

    now thats the AUGs power

  • @ryansloan14 have you ever held an AUG? ive held one at some Irish army tests the A1 & A2 the A3 is the latest it looks sweet!

  • @XxshughesxX

no never held an aug but i have held ak47s , mg42 , bren , mp40 , sten , sks , and some others but all them guns were defunct

plus the shop i was holding them in has been closed down because the man who owned it was trying to fix the guns.

I can be a bit of a gun nerd, because guns fascinate me so much, i spend a good lot of my time on the internet just looking at guns.

but i consider the aug a1 far supierior than the sa80

  • @ryansloan14 sames i heard about that i collect them ive go a few i better tell you through messaging what i have the sa 80 is a good gun but the Aug is alot better i love weapons from guns to military vehicles

  • @XxshughesxX yes the sa80 l85a2 is a kind of a ok gun

but the l85a1 was a heap of shit it was unreliable and jammed alot, so the british after saw their gun was shit, then sent the gun to germany were the redesigned it as the l85a2, but the british take full credit for it. its still a right handed only weapon and still fails in a number of other areas, that why their are very few countries that use it.

  • @ryansloan14 india i know is one

  • @XxshughesxX

    jamacia is another

  • soon as famous as schwarzenegger^^, greetings from austria !! :D

  • @05giacomo that rifle has been used since 1978

  • but this is the short type or?

  • @danielkoold1

    nope..

  • @danielkoold1 Yes it is! This is the short barrel!

The standard army barrel is longer en.wikipedia.#org/wiki/Steyr_AUG

  • das steyr im video ist falsch geschrieben ;)

  • @Realizeskateboarding The weapon can work both ways as it's equipped with ejection ports cut into both sides of the stock and it's quick to reconfigure. The disadvantage is that the cocking handle is on the left-hand-side of the barrel, so left handers need to adapt their hand position to action the weapon. Being a right-hander myself, I have tried to work left-handed and the action is difficult but not impossible. In fact with training left-handers are equally capable of operating this weapon.

  • @Realizeskateboarding

yes it is, there is a second slot on the left side of the rifle which is closed on the default setting for the bullet-cases to fly out, you can easily change from left to right hand usage

  • @TheDocSinister You do need a different left eject bolt to change it over.

  • since when do people need instruction on how to pull a trigger, like duhhhh

  • since when do people need to know how to pull a trigger, like duhhhh

  • The NZ Army use it too :)

  • well its my favourite gun but it looks like a freaking toy or a bb gun (which would be awesome to have a bb aug)

  • @uar99 You can buy an airsoft one for about $120. (USD) =P

  • descent

  • the sound is definately not an austrian masterpiece..

  • the face fat helps with recoil

  • Buy, 4, 4..

  • your vid is filly out of sink

  • This gun kicks ass and not becuase its in COD but because it looks sexylicious

  • the first shot i fired with this gun didnt go off xD and if u don't let the clamping slide fall back fast enough it happens that the bullet jams between the barrel and this part that pulls the bullet inside the barrel but if you use it as you should and if you clean it it works fine.

i don't wanna flame on that gun i love the steyr aug yet if my life was at stake i would take the ak :D

  • WHY IS THIS GUN NOT AS POPULAR ACROSS THE WORLD'S ARMIES? It seems alot better than the M16.. is it because it doesn't have the nearly indestructible reliability of the AK-47?

  • @dalesalsa the ak is big cuz its so cheap so everyone could use em. nd yea its def a better gun then the m16

  • @dalesalsa The mainstream Australian army uses it

  • @dalesalsa

The price is too you can get an AK-47 for 50 $ :D and the price for an AUG is much higher

  • @dalesalsa it is pretty popular, but there have been some problems cause austria was involved in ww2. so the company was not allowed to sell this gun to the whole world from the start.

  • @jnh010 Damn... I didn't know that... that is not cool - since it is such a good rifle.

  • Dear Santa.......

  • This is like a bad Kung Foo movie with his lips moving like that.

  • @ENGAGENZL i am from nz

  • One of my favorite assault rifles.

  • this gun is my dream :)

  • produced in germany! :)

  • @LegendaryGameTV

??? rennts no? Steyr is a österreichische firma! und österreich is ned piefkeland!

Waschmittel?

  • just need it in 762

  • Interesting the rifle has no fire selector then.

  • @KOGR11 yes it does. under the trigger.

  • @KOGR11

Its on the trigger, small screw/button and when pushed up allows full auto and when pulled down stops trigger from going back far enough so its stuck on semi :)

  • i love how the shells are flying like 1 inch frm his face lol.. tht would be the only thing i wouldn't be comfortable with . but yea bad ass gunn

  • great gun. The composite stock is as smooth as a baby's arse. ITS MADE BY TUPPERWARE! ; )

  • die beste waffe EVER!

    made in AUSTRIA!!!

  • i love this gun

  • and its used by the great Irish army :D

  • i dig it

  • austria all the way baby :D

  • its so awesome that theres a sound delay when it shoots

  • Dear Santa...

  • this gun is beautiful, effective, controllable, accurate and compact aswell... i love it

but its "steyr" not "styer" :P

  • @Askarion Actually it is Steyr Arms, said more like "styer" if that is what you mean :)

  • best days in austrian army was spreading 15 bullets all at once in just 2 seconds :D

rest of army time was shite

  • which model takes the ar-15 mags?

  • @DrewDawg50 none

  • masterpiece , maybe for australian standards. The major flaw is the ejection port is half inch away from your cheeks/mouth/noise... I like the gun though put ive seen a few guys loose half there upper lips with one of these bad boys..

  • @911mykidsdead i broke the cocking handle in recruit training, all i did was drop it on the handle side. corporals loved that one

  • @911mykidsdead That's why it's on the other side!

  • best gun ever made

  • Austria had a really famous weapon industry (Glock, Steyr Daimler Puch...) , but because of political correctness it gets destroyed. There are pressure groups that always blame the producers of supporting war, because they sell products.

So they are all leaving Austria. it is stupid.

  • @AustrianAtheist Because of political correctness?? Its because we are a neutral country and are not allowed to sell weapons. Thats why the companies moved also dont forget the cheap labour in Malaysia.

  • Neutrality doesn ot meant that your are only allowed to sell weapons to friends of NATO. A really neutral country could sell weapons to all countries!

However, we have a huge lobby that critisizes nearly every sale, plus politians (from absolutly all parties) did not really care about these jobs/technology. Cheap labour is not such a big reason for weapons production

  • Microtechs are better

  • The AUG has no semi/auto switch like some dude said before. It has its own unique system. You pull the trigger gently, single shot. You pull it strongly and it spits bullets

Easy to use and better than a switch imo

and to whoever said the AUG (automatic universal gewehr (rifle)) is a dumbfuck and should play pokemon

  • @grammeltreiber yeah, i wish it did though

  • @grammeltreiber AUG means (Armee-Universal-Gewehr) army-universal-rifle

  • @grammeltreiber The newer models have a selector right?

  • @THE13EARJEW

Nope. The pressure control is an approved system. A semi/auto switch is a waste of time in a combat.

  • @23aztek I have seen M16 trigger groups built to work the same way. It's a nice option.

  • @grammeltreiber

Styer has a safety, semi and full auto postions on the "switch." On full auto you can pull trigger part way to single or fully to go auto.

  • @grammeltreiber The version used in New Zealand has such a switch, it's safety switch is three part.

  • @grammeltreiber tschuldigung fürs ausbessern, aber:

AUG = armee universal gewehr, which means app. army universal (assault)rifle,

yet still as alpha3 release one of the most effective assaultrifles in the world, also in use by homeland security in the us, and imo these guys should know what they're buying.

afaik grammeltreiber is right with firingmode for nearly all versions

  • audio is waaayyy off

  • Hello, welcome to Arnold's Pizza Shop, I'm not hea' now, I'm out killing pepperoni.

  • i like my BR.

  • Nice Weapon

  • the irish hav a little switch at the base of the trigger (ALO) that controls whether it fires semi- or fully automatically

  • i think that may be on all versions of the styer dude, im in the australian army and we have it to, its called a single shot lock out and it dosnt controlll the fire as such, it just prevents the trigger from being depressed to the extent of fully automatic

  • Its in use with the Republic of Ireland's Army also.

  • New Zealand uses it for its army to

  • Makes me proud to be from Austria :)

  • Australians make their own Aus styer f88 some shit like that

  • lol they misspelled Steyr in the video..

  • All these video game kids...ugh. We don't care how awesome it is in MW2, we are looking at the real deal.

  • @3puckon oh, sorry. well the aug hbar or something like that looks verry simmilar to the steyr aug. caus rhe steyr aug is an assault rifle and the aug hbar is a light machine gun

  • @TonyHawkFan7

its exactly the same as the Styer AUG but with a heavy barrel hence (HBAR) which is essentially just a longer barrel

  • @08Evasion well thanks for the information!:)

  • @TonyHawkFan7 seriously noboddy is fucking interested

    get lost

  • i think you can buy semi auto versions

  • @scipio558 Crrect. The AUG P is believe...

  • I'd get the one with the Piccatiny Rail. That 1.5X scope doesn't look to capable. A 1-4X zoom scope would better serve its capabilities. Just an opinion.

  • Don't forget when the AUG came into service (waaaay back in 1978!) - piccatiny rails and ACOG sites for a standard/regular infantryman's service rifle were just a far-fetched dream. The AUG was very ahead of its time.

  • i would love to have one it was love at first sight

  • lovely...

  • I want one...

  • and the irish defence forces

  • i want the AUG but with the heavy barrel and a 42 round magazine, the 9MM PARA is cool to

  • same lol

  • Can't wait to be paid to use one of these next year :D!

  • @flamingwoodenleg

    What Army ?

  • @flamingwoodenleg Bundesheer Österreich?? die bundeswehr hat nur kackwaffen ey .. die könnten ruhig auch die AUG verwenden...

  • This weapon is also used by the Irish Defence Forces.

  • Love it

  • Damn, I bet when it was made people thought it looked "Space-Agey" due to its design.

  • of course it was ahead of its time

  • I want one so bad...

  • i love this weapen

    Austria!!!

  • AUSTRIA !!

  • MW2 AUG HBAR

  • i like this for it's unusual appearance, most elegant looking bullpup although i know that doesn't really matter.

  • I'm in the RDF ( bagger ) from Ireland. been firing this weapon for 2 years now. i've only managed to get comfortable with it, its hard bein a lefty :P

I've fired the sa80 and Famas also, my own opinion.. there both more superior to the AUG

  • sorry but you say you are feft handed and then you say for you in personal the sa80 is more superior??? funny because you can´t shoot the sa80 with your left hand but you can shoot the aug left handed. i´m not saying the aug is better in general because i never shot the SA80 but at least your personal oppinion sounds bizarre.

  • Sorry i never made myself clear. I meant as in the performance of the rifles are better. and of course u can shoot the rifles left H. It just means u got the awful spray of carts comin at ye openly. Superior and comfort were two seperate things for me. I found i got less recoil from SA80

  • I ahve to agree. They never designed the SA80 for lefties. The British military has to actually train everyone to shoot right handed because of it. Stupid design. Achilles heel of the weapon. Well, that and the reliability issues

  • @RedSandStudios the sa80a2 is much more reliable now

  • ive used one of them there so good

  • Who use the AUG? Austria,Australia,Ireland,....? something else?

  • new Zealand too

  • i live in sweden, and ive seen some of our special forces using the gun. Not to surprising since Austria and sweden have good tides, Austria was one of our closest customers in fighterplanes (J 35 Draken). The steyr is one good-looking firearm! I would actually put the steyr aug in the top 5 of best rifles ever made!

  • @Bonaboms steyr is the company not the gun btw.

  • @Bonaboms sweden has fucked gunlaws...jesus, Forced to join a booring gunclub to own a gun..jeeez

  • @Bonaboms hell yeah! they are one sexyliscious gun

  • New Zealand, Malaysa, and Saudi Arabia IIRC...

  • AUSTRIA :)

  • Falkland Islands use it too

  • love this weapon and design. got an airsoftgun aug a2 and i'm very happy for it:)

  • and the Luxemurgish ;)

  • Its also used by the Irish Army :)

  • If they make them chambered with the new 6.8mm round, they'd be very competetive

  • No it wouldn't. 5.56 has at least as much stopping power as that round, and that round isn't a NATO standard round, so who would use it?

  • Who do you think uses it butthead?

Just youtube it under Future Weapons and maybe you'll get a better insight.

  • NATO doesn't use it, asshole.

  • Did I say NATO????

Open your fucken eyes chum and read properly!!!

  • NATO are the only ones who would use this rifle, and noone use the 6.8mm round, your just confused.

  • The Aussie made version is manufactured and tempered according to our harsh environment (the barrel alone is much stronger)... Austria doesn't have the same dry, hot and unforgiving bush conditions we do in Australia. I'd rather take one to hell and back than an M4 or any other weapon

  • fantastic gun...

but this this has a short barrel

  • Do you really think that the Aussies would have "pussie "light arms?

They grew up with the .303 and Bren gun-----------for over 20 years now-the AUG has been a "winner! "

    Steve.

  • i think the audio off a little bit

  • furthermore it´s bloody easy to aim with it, never missed :) great accuracy!

  • The Irish defence forces also uses the styer aug

  • Weakness Can't put M203 grenade launcher And 40 mm grenade launcher.

  • Not true

  • thats not true ive fired the 40mm F88 GLA, its exactly the same as the M4 but actualy more comfy to use as well as more accurate

  • irish army uses it aswell

  • I'm from New Zealand and our army (as well as the Auatralian defence force) uses them.

I agree with the title of this video - Steyr's are a masterpiece of Austrian technical ability.

  • Can it take standard NATO (A.K.A aluminum mags) or is it limited to plastic?

Also does the awkward feeding of the magazine get worse overtime or is it constant?

    Any reply would be appreciated.

  • No, only the plastic mags.

What awkward feeding? the way we learned it, it was fast and easy. (and constant)

  • Oh ok, well I have heard from a friend of mine who used one before said it took a lot more force to feed the mag compared with many other rifles.

  • More force than other rifles, well that's possible, i have no possibility to compare it, But i found it easy.

And i can say it's constant, because the rifles we were issued weren't new ones ant they still worked well in every way.

Exept blank ammo, the old plastic blank-ammo we used was just to weak loaded. (caused some-> FTE)

  • Ahso, you guys are lucky you don't have to use the cheap-ass m16 like us yanks, some marines have even been brainwashed into thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread even though its older than my parents and has a VERY poor track record.

I gotta say the AUG is a work of art in comparison.

  • I can agree with you to a point. The benefit i got from operating an M16 (in my case it was an M4) its maintenance. That has always been the biggest problem with the gun. For a novice to use it, its a nightmare. And can even be dangerous. But the benefit is that a trained operator can work magic with M16 models. And when the time comes to use something more caveman-designed, that M16 or M4 operator can adapt to a new gun. I couldn't say the same from an AK-74 operator first trying an M4

  • I think the 2 biggest problems with the m16/m4 or most guns is the hyped 5.56 round and direct gas impingement, I learned recently how easily customizable the m16 is and how it can be improved with a gas piston.

HOWEVER the gun is not great out of the box which can be a handicap to a new soldier.

I don't get why NATO adopted such a crappy compromise(556) , If the AUG used STANAG or a better round it would be perfect.

  • 0:52 i left didnt shoot quik enough

  • Well, only minus is the reload sequence if you ask me.
