gray's pole vault pole breaking

I vaulted for 8 years in the late 70's and early 80's and never broke a pole. I was a 130 lb pipsqueak using a 1450 (14' 150 lb) Catapole beating up on much larger vaulters using poles rated below their weight because they didn't have the technique to bend them. I'd pass until all competitors were out, make a jump or two and move on to another event. Still have school record almost 36 years later..sounding like Al Bundy...I once scored 4 touchdowns @ Polk High....lol.

biggest pole at my school is a 14' 200 sadly the kid we bought it for is graduating this year and didnt get to use it that much because he was sick

dude this happened to my friend and he laned in the box and part of the pole hit him in the head and he was bleeding from the head and landed on his hand and couldnt feel his hand. it was pretty sick

there sure are a lot of pole breaking videos on youtube. Is breaking a pole common in pole vaulting? Does everybody break a pole at some point?
