It IS the new skyline. It is the R32, R33, R34 predecessor. They used only GT-R label because it is the first skyline which is being sold worldwinde, meaning outside Japan.

What with the styling cues of a skyline, the skyline only "GT-R" badging, and the respect demanded from a skyline... it's a skyline. people call it the R-35 for a reason. Ok, so maybe the skyline name has been dropped, but the skyline heritage hasn't... make sense?
