One of the reasons why Mariah is the best singer of all time is because I don't think I've ever heard a singer sing thirds so well and on pitch. Particularly, "stability..sleep" and so forth. So stunning how she just sits so perfectly in tune.

Well her parents divorced and when Mariah was a young girl, her sister was selling herself for money (prostitution). She wasn't on very good terms with her father until right before he passed from cancer. She has gone through a lot. This is also about Tommy Motola, who was 40 somethin when she was bout 20..they married and he was too controlling..so they got divorced. Yeah, lots of stuff.

This song has always touched me so emotionally. It's deffinitly my favorite song on the Rainbow album. Lamb, buy all Mariah's CD's they're all worht every penny and more. :) My fav albums are: Glitter, Charmbracelete, Butterfly, and Rainbow.

This song though, even though I have a good family, has just really touched me in some unexaplainable way. I loved the video by the way. They were perfect for the song! :)

Since I heard this song when the album came out I've almost always cried or felt terrible pain on the inside as I relate to my own family. She basically says the things that hurt her were her sister, brother, father, and Tommy. Everytime I try to be nice to someone, I get so screwed just like she does--and everyone has their own issues. I miss being a little kid and having my older cousins there for me. My parents were never really there for me. I can't to move & forget my past.

@stormieknight07 For some people therapy really helps deal with the feelings. It's great just to sit down with someone who doesn't judge me/take my parents side all the time. My entire life people told me my parents were normal and my therapist was like "How can ppl tell you that?! You are the normal one!" I felt so relieved. I have to tell you that I had to deal with my own feelings to be strong enough to live MY life. Everyone in Petals is like an = to someone I know. Please take care! :)

I can relate to every one of her songs in some small way. The mental anxiety...feeling broken ahd left out...trying to find love outside of yourself and feeling insecure on the inside. This song reminds me of my parents and my oldest cousin....they'll never understand...but this song is perfect.
