  • What effects are you using for the distortion. Love the tone of it

  • @guerzon2010mbc He doesn`t use effects, it`s all from his Line6 amp.

  • its not d tuned, its tuned one full step down

  • @joerve128 D tuning IS one whole step down, the song is recorded in DROP D tuning.

  • Hey man Nice Job! :) I wanted to know where u got those books for the tabs for metallica, megadeth pantera songs etc I want them so badly !

  • it's C# standard

  • @athlonbob

Drop D tuning is how it was recorded.

  • not to be anal or anything but on all your other videos you have tab on the screen which really helps me, do you think you could put some tab on this? please

  • um can you play solos to metallica

  • I thought this was in B standard?

  • @masterlucario13 This song is in D standard on the record and they play it C# standard live.

Most people think it's Drop D in the record and Drop C# live, but it's not.

Still you can play it in Drop D, but it's not as heavy as Standard.

  • @Koasterking212 Metallica is not necessarily for beginners. If you can't drop d and tune and stuff, you should refer to a beginner's manual. Otherwise, you'll overwhelm yourself. Thrash is more at an intermediate level.

  • @m169marroquin listen dude im sorry but you suck ass at teaching[this song]. you went way too fast. try slowing down and explaining the notes alittle better.

  • @fectorage he doesnt suck ass, he is a good guitar teacher i learned how to play master of puppets from him if its too fast then you can keep rewinding it i mean sure it looks hard but this is metallica what do you expect

  • @m169marroquin listen dude im sorry but you suck ass at teaching[this song]. you went way too fast. try slowing down and explaining the notes alittle better.oh ya and your fingers were going everywhere. you said 3rd fret your fingers looked like 4th. sorry

  • @m169marroquin

I like your lessons. You're good teacher, but i have one question. What guitar do you use ? ESP ? Ibanez ? Thanks for your video.

  • damn i dont know how read music

  • You sound like Lars.

  • @kragger1985 lars is the drummer

  • @Koasterking212 Your accent.

  • awesome man btw LOVE YOUR PANTERA SHIRT... 1 of my favourite bands

  • you save my life whenever i need to learn to play a song and cant find decent tab

  • where can u gt that book i want it!!1

  • @Chizzy963369 go to a guitar shop orsomthing

  • Thank you! I have that book, but I couldn't get it to sound like the song. Thanks for showing how to play it

  • Where didi you buy that book with tabs

  • @ n1nja092 That dont surprise me at all lol!!!! Dont get me wrong Kirk is a bad mofo and very creative at his solo's no doubt about it!!

  • i have a couple questions

    1. is that a kh 202 you are using?

    2. what does he use at the beginning to get that sound? any foot pedals?

  • @spartangobble too answer your 1st question it cant be a kh 202 because the inlays have skulls on the kh 202!!!

  • ua have really great soud ;)

  • ey man can you send me the tab of this song please

  • Where's the solo?

  • Zxcymn Kirk wish he wrote this lmao. James Hetfield wrote this song along with all the rest of the evil riffs off the first 4 albums. Kirks first riff he wrote for the band was enter sandman, and did not start even recording rhythm guitar until the load album.

  • @day2daygrindin

kirk even ripped of that sandman riff.

  • @n1nja092 this song was made before sandman was even though of...

  • thanks man

  • u talk like lars , by the way thanks for this vid

  • tabs!!!!!!!!

  • you talk too much!!!!

  • what do thay use to make that special distorted sound

  • @metallicalover7

tune it down. the sixth string is tuned down to a D instead of an E

  • Hi! im wondering a thing very much. on around 4:33 you play that part, what you do when you release the two fingers on 7th fret? I cant get that sound.>.>

  • Hey man, along with the distortion do you also play with some chorus on it? It sounds like it, but I can't place my finger on it exactly. Thanks!

  • dumb people who hack accounts

  • How could this be wrong....cliff19em62all you're a dumbass or what???

  • '500 Thrash and Death metal Riffs' now all uploaded. 41 Parts. 6 1/2 Hours. Keepin Thrash/Death Metal Alive....Perhaps this is the heaviest Riff EVER! Certainly one of the best. good lesson.

  • Thnx A Lot Maan ..

  • I dont care what anybody says yo your lesson are tight and to the point. You should do a lesson on Wherever i may roam.

  • ...? Sounds fine to me.

  • i hate it when songs aren't in Concert Pitch

    eff drop-D

    5-stars nonetheless

  • WRONG!!!

  • @Cliff19em62all Its called a tab book dumbass. Wrong?

  • @bob8065: DEWD i didnt post this someone was on my porfile. Jesus.

  • Oh.

  • we're the tabs???

  • exactly, right?

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • heaps sick but how do you get that heavy metal sound on your guitar

  • with distortion, but it sounds better on his ibanez

  • depends on the guitar, but u can get nice heavy sounds with different effects (metal/insane effects that come with some amp's), over-drive, fuzz, and god knows what else...

  • its called distortion it should be on your amp

  • y no tabs like usual

  • According to Kirk himself, the album version is tuned a whole step and a half down. As in C#, F#, B, E, G#, C# from low to high. Can't argue with the guy that wrote it.

  • Heheh, dude...you're blasting all these numbers at us, it's hard to keep up with audibly. It's a decent How-To video, and I appreciate you doing it, but I think your explanations are a bit frenzied. Probably cant be helped though, it IS a lot of info to get out. It's like trying to count bullets coming out of a machine gun LOL

I'm not posting to flame you though, it's just kinda funny. Thanks again for the vid, it's exactly what I was looking for.

  • what guitar are u playing?

  • why does it sound like you have chorus effect on?

  • how come in live the play in standard tuning? and here u play in drop D?

  • The songs are played in Standard tuning cause not all of their songs are made in Drop D so they have converted the songs to Standard tuning so they can play all the songs in a row instead of tuning/changing their guitars

  • They play it in E flat tuning to save time for more songs instead of wasting time changing or tuning guitars. That's what FlaTheR1 was trying to say

  • that made absolutely no sense what so ever sorry

  • drop d is the false tuning you need d standard tuning for this song

  • No, Drop D is the right tuning, the standard tuning is only played live!

  • d standard is played live but i think how you hear it on the album it's d standard, too?..well i don't know ^^

  • I dont think it is recorded in D standard, i think it's Drop D... In one of the Metallica videos they play it in Drop D atleast... I dont really know either but i think its played in Drop D

  • it drop d so DAdGBe

  • is it drop d?

  • hey man!, what is the tuning in this song?

i'm not sure if is D# or D.

    send me your answer!

  • is this drop d?

  • real badass tone

  • m169marroquin - I thank you alot for all the sick ass Metallica lessons - you're really great at showing how to produce the proper sound, so don't take this the wrong way, but FUCK ME you sure do studder/stammer alot. Makes it a little hard to follow sometimes...
