Guy makes the show. I mean beyond the mouth watering food I think it's the fact that Guy is an every day guy who loves good food and loves to eat. He's not some snooty guy in a suit. His everyman demeanor fits the "home cookin" mood of the show.

These shows are not filmed off the cuff, they are edited as far as I know. And while you find him annoying, I like him. He seems to truly love all food and love his job with a genuine zeal.
