  • between you and eskimo saun I have learned alot about the lifestyle I will be soon entering. I love your professionalism as well as your playfulness. You're wild and free but give off a aromma of passion and brilliance. I hope to meet you in person at some truckstop, I'll buy you a beer. Unless you wanna come check out my bold knob, just kiddin. YOU ROCK !!

  • bottom line... look after your health... that's all he says... go to next video

  • I am 14 and was wondeing, logging or hauling cargo?

  • The title of this video does not match the content of the video. These are good tips and great advice but a company won't hire you if you can't drive the truck and do it safely. I thought this video was going to include tips on safe driving technique and driving procedures.

  • When I get up I stretch my crotch snake until it spits.

  • Ok, cigs don't exactly promote health do they?

Here is another one for ya. Microwave cooking is about the worst form of cooking there is as it has been proven to destroy nutrients in food and to form compounds in the food that the human body cannot digest. Why not try a convection/infrared oven?

  • @camlpg Yep, I'd do without the microwave. Sprouting is the way to go when you can - same protein for the weight of meat. The only bad thing about trucking I can think of is you don't have time (nor compactness) to pull over on a state park road and enjoy the sights while you get some exercise. Get that heart rate up often to 160bpm at the gym or something 3-times per week.

  • @zappatx Truckers have to work very long hours and can be away from home for very long periods of time and the trucking industry wonders why there is a shortage of truckers, people want and need leisure time, and as you state good healthy food.

  • his trucks got a fold down bunk

  • where do you wash your dishes?

  • @R9G5V6 Some trucks are equipped with a sink. Other wise you can keep disposable dishes and wash your frying pans at the truck stop!

  • @Whitelinefilms Do you pick your truck or does the Company?

  • I'm currently 17, I'd like to end up getting my CDL and becoming a driver, Can I get my CDL at 18 and start then? J/w.

  • @AustinSteel94 You can get your intra license at the age of 18 in most states. That would limit your operating area however. What state do you live in?

  • @Whitelinefilms Okay sweet, I live in North Carolina.

  • @Whitelinefilms I live in North carolina.

  • Very good video Steve but talking about being healtly with a cig in your hand is not exacly healthy. LOL

  • #1 thing you did'nt mention say goodbye to your kids and wife for 3 or 4 weeks on the get go hope you get back before the milkman an postman are drilling your wife and beating your kids if you can't deal with that, being gone for long timeyou don;t want this job!if you can deal with it have fun dragin that tralor all over the USA,get ready for some crazy ass people out on the road, hope you make it back home!!

  • @00x98pd First , I have plenty of videos that talk about the SACRIFICES drivers make... That was not the point of this video. Second, just because you couldn't hack it don't mean others will have the same problems as you.. Many thrive in this lifestyle!

  • @Whitelinefilms Get Outta here with that stupid shit you posted i not one of your students i have drove over the road for 21 years you anit telling me shit!! why i don't drive now cause some ass hole threw a cement block off the overpass and f @#k my arms up it came in on my strerring wheel and body!! video that want you,no video prepares 1 for that bullshit,,

  • @00x98pd Sorry to hear that brother... My pop's had a similar situation where someone through a water balloon from a over pass shattered the window and blew glass in his face.. I learned for that lesson not to go under a over pass with someone standing above it, if at all possible. I have had kids drop shit off the over pass on me and was lucky enough to get outta the way... Sorry to hear that driver... Take care. I get a lot of hate on here and thought you was another a--hole! Sorry!

  • Love your great videos Steve!

  • Thanks for the videos, Steve!

  • pull up u pants

  • haha! nice. Steve, cigarette in hand: "more than anything else *puff* NUMBER ONE *puff* the most important thing in your life is your HEALTH..." reminds me of the scene in Dazed & Confused when the clerk is selling the smoking pregnant woman booze and tells her "remember to eat a green thing every day..." right on Truckersteve! i'm lightin up right now

  • Steve God Bless, Love Your Videos, Great Videos And Very Accurate. I Have A NYS CDL Class A Permit With Doubles And Triples, Tanker Endorsement. Iam Going To A Private School Near My Home In Brooklyn New York. Have 6 More Lessons Before My Road Test, If I Do Get My CDL Class A License, What Do You Advise Me To Do Next, Which Company Would Hire Me Without Experience. Iam A 45 Year Old Female From Brooklyn New York. Thank You And Keep Up Your Wonderful Work With Your Videos Onyx Brooklyn New York

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THIS SONG?

  • i'm trying to get my cdl how do you no when it's time to switch to next gear???is double clutching hard to do???

  • Steve, you rock partner. Love your lessons. Each & everyone is 'VERY' helpfull. Drive safe...;)

  • As I take a drag from my cig...... Classic.... Thanks for the vid Steve, drive safe!

  • i can sleep 14 hrs straight.

  • Trucker Steve...is it wort spending 10K on a trucking school that says they're accredited and certified, all bells and wistles, or is it a rip off?

  • good video man, hope u keep up the videos. Im looking into gettin my cdl to drive for con-way freight. please let me know if u heard anything about this company.

  • i cant lift over 40 lbs because bad back can i still be truck driver

  • Of course not retard!

  • @abseconPC Yes you can as long as you can pass the D.O.T Physical

  • It is sad to watch as the Passionate Truckers who love living on the road get their lively hood taken over by the other half of humans who have to make a career out of everything. Im not a trucker because when I think about a job or ways to have fun, I dont choose the one that goes against my Pretty Little Princess life style.

Go to England if you need a Schedule, fancy ass refrigerator's and Healthier Truck stops.

But let the big boys give that Old school Definition of a TRUCKER.

    I

  • Hey Steve,

Is that one of those new organic, whole grain cigarettes (Healthy 100's).LMFAO!

    Drive safe Bro!

  • Yeah it is one of those wireless cigarettes that looks, smells, and taste like a organic smoke! LOL

  • @Whitelinefilms are U kidding me here, han', U really need 2 rethink all that U said b/c U totally fabricated alot. especially the healthy eating part what kind of wireless ciggerette makes U flick Ur ash and/or gets smaller in size. the wireless smokes U speak of do not. I knw I have a very good otr friend that has tried everyone knwn 2 man, so what kind is it ? and where's ur bike ? and how well does that george foremen grill help in ur healthy eating. BTW, I drive OTR as well & have 4 yrs

  • @hwyrunr68 Driver! I was 6 ft 280 in this video. I'm currently 6 ft 230 I would be lighter but I'm building muscle mass! So don't tell me it is not possible!

  • @bettacumcorrect lmfao good call

  • good advice. I like it. Thank you !

  • why do trucks use diesel instead of gas????????????????????????? i have never understood and y cant they have automatic transmissions???????????? any one know

  • @alswisdom. the diesel engines are better in heavy duty app. they can make more torque than gas engines especially at low rpm. As for the transmission, I've never driven an 18 wheeler before... but from driving a stick I know its much easier to shift proactively before hills rather than having to wait for an auto trans to react. A real truck driver will give you a better answer I'm sure... ;p

  • Alpha is correct about the first question :) thumbs up brother! ***high five***

As for the second question, there are automatic transmissions they're becoming more common place these days.

Some of it is proactive/reactive but the better part of why most drivers want standard transmissions is "it is a trucker think" More ego the economics really!

For the record I wouldn't want a auto trans!

  • the quote "its a trucker think" was meant to say "it is a trucker thing!" I'm suffering from down-finger this evening or something!

  • haha.. I knew what you meant. imo clutches rule and automatics drool! also its kind of funny that manuals are aka standards when it is really the autos that have become the standard.

  • @alswisdom Diesel engines are more efficient, produce more power and yes automatics are available and becoming more popular

  • thanks for the reply man. i aint disagreing with ya but i always heard that diesel are not only dirtier louder but also less powerful.i have seen it in cars but im not sure if those rules dont apply to large trucks?. all the best

  • Steve I'm starting my training Feb 1 In Toronto, Canada... Do you have any videos or tutorials on how to set up your mirrors what are the views from the different mirrors

  • they use diesels because they are built to last really freaking long over 1 million miles in soome cases. and they create way more torque at lower rpms than gas some brand new trucks have auto trans but the reason for manual with lots of gears is a manual with last longer and can handle more gears to deal with all they torque and the weight of the loads..and i a semi didnt have manual..it would be real driving would it?

  • - Trucking bussiness .. ... is fucked UP

  • Comment removed

  • dont mind me asking but what is avarage wage for trucking

  • A very great wage if team driving!

  • look out, presey back truckin soon!

  • Good pay if your company keeps you moving. Most are paid by the mile, slow times like we're experiencing now , you might be better off working at Mcdonald's! Ride by the Schneider yard in Carlisle PA and see how many trucks are just sitting.

  • depends on the load and were its to

  • Nicotine is good. Smoking is bad.

    Electronic cigarettes rock!

  • This is all great advise to be healthy but gee wile you are talking about eating healthy you sit there smoking. Do you have any idea how bad smoking is for you? Gosh if you want to kill your self shot gun shells are alot cheaper. Did you know you are paying the goverment lots of money to make yourself sick. Also everyone around you. Makes no sence to me. Just trying to look out for you, not trying to get on your case. Us truckers have to look out for each other. Happy trucking!!

  • I was required to shoot this video just 1 hour after hearing I and the ex wife decided to get a divorce. I was stressed out. You're right tho, what does smoking do for me? It is not helping me in any way. Take care brother Happy Trucking!

  • freightliner century class

    nice!

  • hey trucker steve..thanks for getting back to me .. your videos are very helpful ..eddy in montreal quebec....keep safe

  • hello.trucker steve ..i just got my class one been a shunter for a few years at c-p rail thinking of going long hall this might be a stupied qustion but do you ever get nervouse going someplace you never been for i think that be my biggest fear` sorry if its a stupied qustion and i just started to watch all your viedos keep them up and i hope to meet you and the rest on the road one day...

  • Like it has been said the only stupid question is the one not asked, It would be my pleasure to respond to as many questions as possible. The quick response is no I'm never nervous of where I'm going because I already know where that is a head of time. I'm however cautious of surrounds and try to never put my self in a place I shouldn't be. I grew up in the hood so I'm fairly street smart! Hope that helps, take care brother.

  • Did you start off running long haul? I'm from Ontario Canada and I just got my licence. Many people tell me I shouldn't run long haul at first. Can't wait to get on the road.

  • I started off doing local work for three years when I turned 18 I got my license when I turned 21 I went otr.. I would suggest going over the road get your time in then go local.

  • My brother got his Class A CDL last summer but, he's having a problem finding work because of his work history. He's been working as a roofer for the last 4 years but, he's been working off the books. Their are asking for a 3 year work history with W2 forms which he doesn't have. He gave up 6 months ago & he's still working as a roofer. I feel bad for him because he was the best driver in his school & he's wanted to be an OTR trucker since he was 5. Any advice on what he could or should do?

  • Sorry... They are asking for a 3 year work history. Thanks in advance & your video's are great!! Keep up the good work man! ~Chris

  • Irishchris he will have to go to work for a big company that hires students and go through their training swift schneider werner almost all the big companies hire students tell him to give them a call.

  • hey great job trucker steve, if you ever in St. Louis we should get together would like to sit and compair storys

  • Great info. Ive watched most of your videos in the last few days. Keep them comming. I am in the process of getting my cdl. Using the internet to get some insight on what Im getting myself into the good and the bad.

  • dieselducy scranton

Search that on youtube and see one trucker pissing off others. The guys name is Andrew Reams

  • LOL, If you looked around the trucking industry you would see that most don't know this information watch the next video in the series for more information.

  • Hi Im 18 and i was wondering if I can be a truck driver with a C class license?

  • You'd have to get your CDL license. You cant drive a big truck with just a normal drivers license.

  • nope jpiff200000 you will have to get an class a cdl to be able to drive a big truck.

  • how hard is the CDL?

  • going to a truckdriving school would be the best choice but if you know how to drive one and know enough about it and know someone who will let you use their truck to take the test its not that easy but you could do it .

  • are truckers mean? because I am german and I would like to be a trucker in U.S.A but will all the rednecks on the radio hate me? where they nice?

  • Most truckers are real nice but there is the occasional douchebag that thinks hes better than everyone else. But that doesnt matter if you wanna be a trucker then be one its all about what YOU want and them likeing you (or dislikeing you) doesnt matter, as long as you treat people with respect you should be treated the same.

  • Excellent tips man. I'm just getting into trucking, but love hearing the tips from experienced drivers. Thanks for putting them up.

  • I just watched lesson 1 and as a 28 yr road vetran I think your lesson has merit and I find no faults. Good job and I hope to see more from you in the future.

Keep the greasy side down !

  • Steve you are so totally right. Sleep is CRITICAL. And diet, exercise. Thanks for making this part FIRST. This is great. I am excited to study the next ones. One thing that helps sleep too is having a fan on as well. And a shower before any trip. Keep up the great work.

  • I guess some people fail to read ones bio. I'm a fucking comedian dude.

  • I just woke up....i MISSED the whole video.

    Just Kidding.

    How to be a trucker.

I drive really well but I have Sleep Apnea...

    :-(

  • Let me take a smoke break before I start lesson number two. Get real!

  • If you where to check out my channel it clearly states I am a comedian. I wanted to be serious in this video. I had a hard time doing that my wife and I decided we needed a divorce just hours before the shoot! I know I shouldn't have but . . .

  • This guy's a little monotone as the host but still a cool vid...

  • Yeah I can agree with that!

  • Your correct on the health and proper diet for a trucker. Today many of drivers are taken off the road due to poor health and other related health issues.

  • I like your videos Steve. Keep on makin some more.

  • I like it Steve. Keep on truckin!

  • love your videos Steve...... anyone know what the title/artist of the intro song is?

  • coopling?

    coopling?

    COOPLING!?

  • I have to agree with you. Most trucking wrecks are caused by sleepy truck drivers. Personally, I try to get at least 6 to 8 hours of rest in my truck.

  • like me talking about being healthy with a cigarette in my hand

  • does anyone know of a way I can team drive with another driver, my cdl is current, so is my physical, NO extra endorsements , I would really like to drive again, you can reach my email at ms_anastasia2002@yahoo. thank you Kellie

  • Since you are talking about eating healthy, a microwave is not the way to do it. That is not healthy. Microwaves change the molecular structure of things. You are not getting the same nutrients that are good for you.

  • maybe he should turn off that cig

  • hi...i just wondered whats the name of the song in the beginning?=)

    from

    Daniel=)

  • yea driving a truck bout 10 percent this video needs be sold in stores man for ppl wanting to know wat to expect before gittin there cdl the heatlh issue to look at and know wat ur allowed do before driving the truck

  • Hey Steve, love your vids. The wife and I just stumbled on them 2nite. The shower vid was great! Next time u wanna give health tips, put out the cig 1st! (We laughed our asses off!) It will increase your credibility! I drove for MTC for 3 years 3-03 to 6-06) and was known there as Sandman. I became an owner-op there but drive for Landstar now. My wife cooks in the truck too! She cooks some GREAT stuff! She wants to know how do you keep ur hands clean while cooking in the trk.

  • Thanks for watching, this video was one of my first (when I have to watch I cringe) I fell off the cooking wagon there for a minute but I am getting back on it. As far as keeping clean I have hand sanitizer and toilets I am a bit of a neat freak.

  • Great video. But I swear that looked like a cigarette in your hand there...

  • Your doing a good job keeping it real . you should get your viewers some kinda coupon for those pancakes across the street from may trucking, thats the LEAST you could do for your fans , damn they're good

  • Good advice Steve, and well spoken. I am a 26 year driver, about 50/50 OTR and city delivery, real good blend of exp. I agree with you 100%, you have no health you have zero, you could be falling asleep, road raging, all sorts of things if you don't take care of business. I have 26 years and just shy of 2 million miles with never a chargeable accident ( knock on plastic ). I fully concur with your advice... !

  • Your face look's fat and your body.? I worried..are my going to look like like you.?

  • YESSSSS!

  • i honestly believe that the big rigs are the kings of the road

  • do u leave the keys in the ignition when ure sleeping for the night?

  • Good advice Trucker Steve. Keep it between the lines.

  • Knowing my luck I'd go for a bike ride on some strange city and lose my truck LoL

  • hmm so u saying if the company is crap that means all the drivers cant drive for them? or they dont know what they are doing? ya i guess u are a real man who do u work for? Walmart cart pusher?!?!?!?!

  • Hey dude!

You rest properly, eat properly, exercising properly, but you really should quit of smoking!

  • Who? Me!

  • talking about health THAT much while you have a cigarette in your hand might not give the best impression.

  • Very good points. More should follow these tips. It's hard, but if you plan to do this for any length of time - and survive - this is the way to go.

  • I see you keep up a good diet

  • I think you're full of shit!!!!

  • Fraudulant behavior with the registrationdevices is treated as doing a murder... Here 90% of the drivers keep to the regulations because of that and that saves lives.

  • Government as in the form of police, or traffic-controlers can stop you at any moment to check your cards or disks, also check your weight, licenses and load. they also check at your firm. When you don't meet the regulations, you can get fines (up to thousands of dollars) get extra mandatory rest for 9 hrs and they can revoke your licenses and permits and also the ones of the company.

  • Here we drive with tachograph-cards or electronic ones. They register your rest-, work-, driving- and breaktimes. Here you can drive 4,5hrs straight on, than park for 45 min, drive another 4,5 also 45 min break. and than drive another hour and then it's of to bed for 9 to 11 hrs. or is any other config. as long as you don't drive longer than 4,5 hrs straight.

  • they should have rest-regulations like in europe.

  • Why the regukations we have in the USA work fine. They can drive for a maximum of 11 hours and then are entitled to 10 hours sleep time. Obviously you have never been here or you would realize that the USA is massive. Driving for 4.5 hours and stopping wouldn't even get you out of NJ on a bad traffic day and NJ isn't a big state.

  • Yo sup Trucker Steve Just want to say, love your videos, wanted to let you that im on my way to becoming a truck driver, I take my test on friday, so if you have anymore pointers i would love to here them. So any way wish me luck, and I wish you the best of luck to you and hope maybe well meet up somewhere.

  • hey trkr steve thnx 4 the info and gr8 vids hope to see ya and trkr2x and escimo some day.also thnx 4 following on twitter

  • how green are you?before ya try to tell anything you should have at least some driving time ha ha

  • Hey billy big rigger, what constitutes as "some driving time".

I would recommend that before you insult someone you at least read there bio. Put my name into in search engine on the internet and my stats will come up. Who are you? umm that is right you are not willing to share because . . .

  • hey stevie, doing good there trucker, i too am a trucker from australia, melbourne exactly, just been watchin your vid's, not bad, cheers

  • I would have called it a fridge but that would not be accurate. It is a cooler not a fridge. You don't understand that I have millions of people who have watched my shows and If I claimed I had a fridge in the truck and it was a cooler I would have took shit for that too..

3 days between showers? You know you can take a shower every day or more then once, right? Watch my video I made for you called WASH YOUR ASS!

PS: Alone..... HA! Did I turn you down or something MS. SPITEFUL?

  • Millions?? I think you are giving yourself too much credit. Plus the word is "than" not "then", a common mistake for the under educated. Stick to driving a truck and not getting paid for 50% of the time you spend working.

  • Too much credit? HA! Tubemogul the company that keeps stats on content creators rates me as the 85 most popular content creator on the internet with over 8 million views. You can check for yourself, the stats don't lie.

Have you ever made a typo? I am not writing my thesis, get over it!

As far as the money I make that is no concern of yours. By the way thanks for clicking to write back to me I just made more money. As I get paid every time you come back to CHAT!

  • Been driving 2 yrs now; my policy is anytime I can lay down & rest,I do it; especially in rainy weather which seems to make me sleepier than sunny days. If I know I'll be driving I avoid starches such as noodles & spaghetti. I stay away from processed meats, turkey & any kind of fried food as these make the digestive system work harder & make you tired. If I eat those foods at all it will be when I'm finished for the day. I also avoid the buffets where I'm tempted to overeat(& it saves me $).

  • They didnt teach me that in my cdl training class. they said the NUMBER ONE important thing was the 5 brake checks. they said if we fail to don it during our PTI test it was an automatic fail but o well. Nice vid BTW

  • Thank you brother for sharing. I am taking my on road driving test in 1 week, I am confident and all your videos helped a lot. Please let me know if sigining on with Swift is a good idea, I have heard mixed comments, but you seem to be one with experience and integrety. I live just north of Los Angeles, so a close terminal is not a problem.

The new hire truck mags are confusing.

    Thank you in advance

    JP

    Oak Park, Ca 91377

  • hey there,

  • im sixteen and my grandpa and uncle and stepdad drive a truck they tell me to stay away from driving but i got a chance to drive my stepdads down the road a ways and i like it any advise on what i should do

  • What state do you live in?

  • Hm, this could be a career I could see me getting into. Where could a 15 year old guy begin? TRUCKER STEVE RAWKZ!

  • Keep watching video, read the cdl book but most importantly just be 15 dude. You will miss it when it is gone. Hang out with cool people, and stay out of trouble.

  • Thanks for taking the time to teach. Very Cool.

  • hey bro nice vid i learned alot and brother you are right your health is inportent , steve man you kick ass

  • Thanks brother, i look forward to seeing you on the road sometime.

  • ya bro i relly want to chill with you some time bro, man i got to chill with sean today bro and man it was just him and me and hell you can not forget eskimo that fucker was trying to hich a ride with me up north but i said fuck that shit i dont want to get my nuts frozin , lol bro i sat in the same seat as you did man i whorshiped that seat lol just kidding bro i am not that wired maybe wired not that wired lmao

  • and bro sean and me had so much DAM coffee man i am feeling it now but come check out my chanel in a few mins

  • I went and got my Class A's, but I doubt I'll ever be a OTR trucker. The idiots on the road and the loneliness keep me from going out there.

But great video. Some important tips about sleep and excercise.

  • Thank you kindly this means a lot to me.

  • Steve,

Cool video. I eat in the truck very often. We got the gas grill as you saw plus a slow cooker, elect frying pan and a coffee pot we only make hot water out of for instant coffee, oatmeal, instant mashed potatoes etc.

It's hard to say how much money we save and how much healthier we are becasuse of doing this. last night we tried a betty crocker home style bake in the crockpot..those bisquits were killer!!!!

Anyway I'm gonna start doing some safety videos also so look for some soon.

  • I am looking forward to watching your videos, don't forget to send me a pm and remind me when you have one out as sometimes they get bumped through the buffer.

  • hey great video, i'm going into the trucking business and i was wondering if u could give me any advice? Richard

  • it is a very hard, stressful job..Trying to stay awake is the worst part..I had drove for 20 years..Just get used to being alone all the time and working day and night in all kinds of weather. If you are determined to do it then it will take endless determination to get the job done.Trucking is not for everyone..

  • I agree 100% all can learn to drive, but that don't mean the job is for you. Many men have a hard time adapting to the lifestyle.

  • how often to you get to be home???
