Kassa on AXA vulnerability on bicycle locks

@edugreen basicly the first guest is from a "lock club" explaining the vulnerabilities of AXA and ABUS ringlocks. he claims that teenagers started asking lock smiths for blank keys, which the smiths refused because they had vague reasons. this guest proceeds to show that a blank key mold can be used to open them in the studio

AXA's director is the next guest (gray suit). he claims that only 5% of the 4 million locks in circulation are affected/weak and offers those a 50% discount

So it means that also Abus locks are weak? Regarding AXA, only SL7 and SL9 are affected, thus Defender doesn't have this issue?

I have a SL7 unit, I want to find out if it's "weak" or "strong", but couldn't undertand this left/right stuff. Any other hint?

AXA 583: almost all were weak

the SL7 and SL9: both have two different key profiles (left & right)

- look head-on at the key's tip

- the position of the upper edge (left/right) determines which profile it is.

they show the profiles in "More Kassa TV on AXA bike locks" at 5:30 (left side of the screen is a "right", on the other side is a "left" profile)

right: more than half opened

left: very few opened (strong)

SL9: is for a large part made "left" so very few opened

That's bad! Mine is a "right". Is there any replacement program? already e-mailed AXA but so far no response. At least in Brazil people barely know this kind of locks, not likely that a thiefwould know this... but I want a new one anyway!

they talked about the ART security rating, which some of the locks might have. it looks like old/weak locks had their rating pulled, because they aren't listed on the ART site anymore (Ringsloten,AXA):

they mentioned the AXA Defender RL being a new lock which was advertised with a warning about old locks. it's still listed on the ART site with 2 stars which is good for getting insurance, so i assume it's a good lock.

good idea mailing them. don't know any page where they refund. (the website mentioned at 7:20 of the next video is only for ABUS)

shame you have a bad one. hope you get a refund. it's good that people in Brazil probably don't know. personally, i'm glad i know about this since i'm getting a new bike.

@edugreen in the next video "More Kassa TV on AXA bike locks" the same guy and another from a "lock club" field test this on 150 bikes in Amsterdam. they find it is closer to 50%. some models have success above 90%, some have a 1/70 chance. they find that if you look at the front of the key top-to-bottom, weak ones start at the right and strong ones at the left

presenter says, AXA has in the meantime admitted that it is higher than 5% and that ABUS has offered a free lock replacement

Grote onzin!!

Ik heb politie flevoland gemaild en gevraagt of ik de sleutels mogt verkopen en op zak hebben. Ze hebben gezegt dat deze sleutels niet op de "verboden" lijst staan en dat ze dus gewoon verkocht mogen worden. Wat je er verder mee doet moet je zelf weten XD Doe het voorzichtig;)

ik heb zelf ook de sleutels aangeschaft om het zelf te testen. ik kon de sleutels gewoon kopen voor 8 euro de set 2 blanke sleutels..werkt echt supergoed maar alleen bij bepaalde series soms lijkt het slot niet open te gaan maar na 5 minuten wiebelen gaat deze alsnog open... mijn conclusie----> het werkt goed maar als je niet in een drukke stad met veel fietsen woont heb je er niet veel aan omdat er in een dorp gewoon weg niet genoeg fietsen waarop het kan worden toegepast.
