Is it mandatory to take your shoes off in your own apartment..I mean do you follow that tradition rule? My house is mopped twice a week and I live in New York, but still....lol.
@juki0h This was student housing so it was more expensive but I'd say it worked out to about $1,200 USD a month. The apartment we rented later on that was actually a bit bigger was about 1,100 a month and in Nerima-ku (more convenient to where we worked at the time).
You probably already know by now, but there are nets people usually put in their catcher in the sink. You can get them at the 100 yen shops. They're usually light blue. It makes it easier to clean up.
Nice apartment you have....did you get it furnished? Also do you teach English in Japan? i am looking into coming over for a teaching job...any tips will help....cool shower room btw!!
@donalduck815 Thanks! Yeah we got it partially furnished. It was a really nice apartment. I miss it already! (we just moved this past weekend to a new place. I'll have to upload, as it's much smaller and more interesting. lol) If you're coming over for a teaching job the best thing I can suggest is research your school, make sure you'll be making enough to cover all your expenses, and LEARN JAPANESE! It's definitely helpful the more Japanese I learn every day.
Yeah this is our first time living in Tokyo. We've visited but never gotten to actually live here. We speak some Japanese but are learning waaaay more by actually living here now. Study from a book back in the States all you want and it still can't beat the immersion. Also, we take classes every other day to help us learn more kanji, etc.
