  • Still the man.

  • Great song, one of Ian's best ever, wrote it for his daughter Tracie after the breakup of his first marriage.

  • Brilliant! ThankYou for posting this!

  • Amazing song!

  • an excellent video/recording of one of mott the hooples better songs.

  • a great song from a great musician...

Ian Hunter is one of the greatest rockers of al times...

  • That critic's comments were totally idiotic.

  • The critics who put down Ian Hunter, and particularly this beautiful song of his, are a bunch of idiots! I'd like to see one of them write a song like this, or any other. Music critics are people who have no talent to play or write but somehow feel qualified to judge those who do, especially if they a some kind of university degree. Ian is one of the great underrated musicians of his era and still rocks.

  • It is really nice music

  • Thanks to thatsripping for the info. So

Trudi was Ian's second wife then? Great and heartfelt song in any case. I used to listen to it after breaking up with a girlfriend whose daughter, Jessica, I had become close to. Greg G.

  • Has anyone ever written a sadder or truer line than, "the wise man knows why he cries"? Since Mick Ronson died Ian knows for sure why he cries. Ian is not a Buddhist but he has known the first truth of the Noble Ones all his adult life. The sadness of the human condition can be cantilevered by hope, can be mitigated by love but indeed, the wise man knows why he cries. Greg Gibbs Portland

  • Waterlow was written for Ian's daughter Tracie who he would take to Waterlow Park in London. He wrote it when he was going through the divorce with his first wife. It is so sad, but very beautiful.

  • here again...simply beautiful

  • Definately in my top 10 favourite songs EVER!

  • beautiful

  • Every night I come and it is as beautiful as ever.....

  • Out of Ian's softer ballads, the ones I like best are 1) Rest in Peace 2) Sea Diver 3) Waterlow (version on the Wild album).

  • Ditto

  • 100% agree plus I wish I was your Mother.

  • One of my favorite Mott The Hoople songs, a true Ian Hunter song!

  • Ian and Mott have always been Forgotten Rebels

  • Holy smoke that's positively gorgeous! Waterlow has always been a favorite of mine....I believe i love it even more now.

  • The "unsucessfull" Wildlife album is an absolute classic.Just shows how much the so called critics know.

Makes you wonder how many other classics never made it just because some pompous music know it all slated it in preference to the latest Gary Glitter LP.

  • One of, if not, the most beautiful song he ever wrote. Never thought I would ever see him perform it live. MottOne, thanks a million for posting this from "Strings Attached" DVD.

  • really really cool

  • Bringing back so many loving moments, truly beautiful rendering of a great song..thanks so much for the video and thanks Ian.

  • Not a true Hunter song but beautifully performed, you are watching a genius on top form.

  • Can't believe he actually picked this from his arsenal of songs. It's a most beautiful melancholy track - gotta love thos strings! Excellent post.

  • Revisits an old song with the outstanding Trondeim Orchestra as acccompaniment: excellent.
