  • WOW! Awesome video. This video shows that the Lotus STILL holds true to an old saying she has rightfully earned "The bitch turns on a dime!" That Porsche may have had an advantage in acceleration.., but the Exige dominates on those corners. Problem with that Porsche is it's to top heavy when compared to the Exige. It's clearly seen in body roll when cornering. That Exige is low to the ground and the height of the car is VERY low too. Half the fun is getting in and out of a Lotus too!

  • I think both drivers were pushing their cars to about 85-90%. I don't think both were pushing to 110% because you just don't do that at a track meet. Beautiful driving on both counts, both drivers did very well.

  • Congrats to the Lotus driver, excellent driving! The exige is a perfectly balanced car and with the right driver, it can perform, in a track, more than overpowered car like the GT3.. Very nice driving..

  • ok the orange car from 0:20-0:35 is an elise. what does that have to do with anything? the video is labeled "exige chasing gt3" which means that the camera is inside of a lotus exige. there is no way to tell whether this is an elise or exige from this view.

  • So on a 6 minute Vid you comment on the 15 seconds when the Exige stroms past an Elise? Watch the rest of the Vid where he battles with the Porche.

  • Your lines are better than the driver of the GT3 and it looks like he's driving pretty conservative. Both cars are nice!!

  • at 0:20-0:35 you can clearly tell that it is a elise and no the exige does not have a back window in side it all most like a shiny glass and the back of the elise is flat like in this vid the exige is not the back goes up at a angel for the super charger in take and the make has a black mesh on it it is not flat like on the elise look up a video on the exige and then look at the elise again and im flabbergasted that u dont know the differnce since ur user name is bkllotuselise111r dumb ass

  • Usually drivers that have a very fast car, GT3, depend on its straight line pace to get away from potential overtakers. The GT3 has a higher cornering limit than the Exige but it all comes down to how you drive the car. I love both cars, the Exige is a go-kart for the street but the GT3 is on a different league :)

  • Uh, I just want to point out to you that the Exige is not a go kart for the "street" lol. It has racing suspension.

    For the most part, the little NA Lotus just doesn't have enough muscle for... pretty much anything Porsche turbos.

  • Yeah, no doubt. Supercharged Exiges pretty much get no better coming straight out of Lotus. Damn near a full second faster 0-60 from the NA. The only thing I don't like about the Exige is it's launch control. I don't mind the sound of bouncing an engine off of it's limiter, but it only works as you turn the car on which is... a good chunk of gas. However, I would find it amusing (when possible) to set off like that to surprise the passenger with a 0-60 in 4 seconds dead like a slingshot.

  • Yeah, its a funny system. Having said that, launching like that puts ultimate strain on a car, so I guess making it harder means you'll do it less and spend less time and money getting it serviced. :D

    In the UK, low miles S2 Exiges are pretty darn cheap at the moment, for the fire power, I can't imagine what else I'd spend £25k on..

  • I wouldn't be too worried about straining it being that it is a Toyota engine... (unless I'm making a habit out of it, ha). Plus, Vicki took her time to dump the clutch. It doesn't take that long to hit the limiter, lol.

    Same story in the states. I see Exiges going for literally just above 1/2 of what they cost new. Don't like that Lotus replaced the wing with a spoiler for 2010. New front looks nice, though.

  • Its a serious temptation for me, but I can't afford to run two cars and it isn't really a practical car, making me look towards a boxster s.

    Another serious deal is Masser Grandsport, can get them dead cheap here. They fall to bits though. :)

  • Lies. It has the same downforce. More power? Yes, because it's supercharged. - Same engine.

  • You're actually right, the S doesn't have extra down force as part of the package, my mistake. Although you could argue, more power = more downforce created ;-)

  • The guy in the GT3 was holding the Lotus up. He was relying on power on the straights. You could hear his revs were too low in the corners. Nice driving by the Lotus.

  • Exige driver is quicker and brakes later, The GT3 was quick in the straights. Not a bad driver but not as quick. If this was a DE the GT3 should have let up in the straight and allowed the Lotus to pass.

  • I drove an exige, and I'm 6'2,210. Way to small for me. Plus its a Toyota built in Britain, now there's a great combo:)!

  • Well the engine is a Toyota and thats because of Americas emission standards. Still a great car no matter where its made.

  • It sure is. Toyota reliability coupled with British engineering; you can't go wrong.

    I'm 6'2, 180lbs and it's perfect size for me. The first time I drove one, I got in and didn't even feel the need to adjust the seat or steering wheel in the slightest. Within minutes I was doing 95mph around a relatively sharp curve with no problems.

  • i always wonder...how much is regular dealer service for a lotus...will it be really expensive cause it's a ..lotus...or relatively cheap cause it got a Toyota engine...

  • Not that expensive, at least compared to regular service for a Porsche... Equivalent to a regular car.

    But tyres are expensive, and they need to be changed frequently, especially if you drive on track.

  • these things are known to be extremely high revving. its not pushing it as hard as it seems to be. this car has less the half the porsche's horsepower.

  • great driving and it was nice to see a great pass, but i noticed that your video finished half way down the stright, where the porsche was normaly pulling away from you. I just hope you defended the racing line and got to the bends and pulled away in time, thanks for sharing. Andrew UK
