  • and that's what i call bell hell

  • here in our biggest shopping center we have two "Belltowers" with 2 bells on every side=makes 8 Bells-thes two are at the parking ground around the building. and in the center is one "little bell tower woth on on each side..

Its horrible if ou hear that at an alarm..

1km around you can hear the bells...

And at my home-vilage in a big factory these "belltowers" are too. There are 3 o them.you hear them louder that the fire siren ;)

I dont know others like these here in the county..

  • at my school, the alarm went off after lunch one day because a lot of steam rose in the kitchen...lol the fire alarms in my school are super sensitive...the pull stations flash a red light on them if you get close to them

  • @WonderN123 Nope, that red light is just the addressable module being "pinged" by the alarm panel.

  • @int3ll3r0n oh, i didn't know that. neat. and also, it was in my middle school.

  • Hah. My school is older so we have that kind of bell thing

  • OH NOES GET TO THE ROFLCOPTERS!!!

  • The elementary school I attended from 2nd to 4th grade used to have those bells...as did the middle school I attended.

  • Ow my ears!

  • "WHAT ARE TEH ODDZ..."

  • My high school had a planned fire drill one time (I was not notified of this one though). They let us back into the building but the alarm was still going for about 5 minutes afterward. I am not sure whether it was intentional or not. Luckily it was a Simplex 4100u voice evac system set to slow whoop.

  • My bell at my Elementrey school in like the 90's was louder

  • @TodaYouDie378 because they want to.

  • wtf why do you take so many movies of fire alarms

  • Because he can and he likes to.

  • It was not a drill? Was there a fire?

  • Read the description...

  • you sound so excited, Fire! Fire!!

  • @RaveSnoreThrong There WAS a real fire this past Friday!

  • @weatherdan882002 How bad was it? :O

  • @cindy1000000 It was a small grease fire. No damage.

  • @weatherdan882002 Oh,ok.Thats good then.

  • lol at our school if it goes off during lunch they make us take our lunch outside

  • Wow! Are thz Simplex 2901-9333's

  • yes.

  • ms 74 fire bell is much quieter

  • Passing that bell on evacuation must have made your ears ring

  • Thanks for the warning to turn down speakers, it was very considerate. Wish more people would do what you did.

  • That is really loud. can you make that video more clear? I mean like it's very hard to see.

  • At the end of the URL, add &fmt=18. That'll make it more clearer. You can do that w/ all of my vids and it'll work.

  • I'll try that!

  • I tried it. But it still looks a little fuzzy.

  • Well that's because my vids are shot in 320X240 format (that way the vid doesn't appear to be "slow", and of course YouTube stretches out the vid to a wider format, so it will be distorted a bit. The code I gave above is the best way to resolve the issue. It's also only YouTube that does this as on every other site and as well as the origional files on my computer have very good quality.

  • Oh. OK! :)

  • 2/12 must just be a lucky day on the calendar. Yesterday the main building went off - 2 years to the day that this happened...

  • Now that is a FIRE BELL! It really sucks that those are not too common for installation in the United States anymore - supposedly they cost a lot more to install. They don't even hardly install real ''bells'' in schools anymore... such a shame!

  • I haven't heard anything about prices, but these kinds of bells (electromagnetic) suck up a lot of power (.11A to be exact), and horns use up a LOT less, so that's why you see those. Wheelock makes bells that only use .02A though, but I guess horns are still easier to work with.

  • Yay, my school's not the only one with fire bells!

  • Bells are pretty common in canada. They're not very popular in the US, but certain "hotspots" have thme, like Washington DC and just about all of NYS in schools and such. They're not generally installed anymore, sadly.

  • Bells were common here until the mid-late 90s. There's quite a few buildings built in the mid 80s and early 90s that had horns though. I dunno why that was, maybe the size of the building required a different type of alarm due to the fire code, or it could've been completely up to the customer. Ask twoplyboy, he'd know.

  • At Bridgewater State College, many of the alarm systems there are Simplex. The East Campus Commons (which has a food court and the bookstore) has a Simplex 4120 system with 4903-9148 speaker/strobes, the main campus center has what appears to be either a Simplex 4100 or 4120 system with Simplex 4903-9236 horn/strobes and TrueAlert horn/strobes, many other buildings have TrueAlert horn/strobes... (continued in next post)

  • ...the Hart Hall has a Simplex 4100 voice-evac system, with vertical 4903 speaker/strobes in the 1995 wing, and SAE 2DCD+AV32s in the 1979 wing, and the Kelly Gymnasium has a Simplex 4100U voice-evac system with TrueAlert speaker/strobes. Nearly all the systems have 4099-9003 pulls, but the Hart Hall has a mix of older Johnson Controls pulls, Simplex 4251-30s, and Simplex 4099-9001s (mainly in the new wing)

  • at :55 the annunciator beeps

  • love It

  • now why would they be able to shut the bell off but not the lights

  • Because the system is configured to shut off the bells, but keep the lights flashing when silenced. They could silence it, but they couldn't get it to reset, so as a result, the lights kept flashing for a while afterwards.

  • Now that shit is LOUD!!!

  • Why not horns?

  • Presumeably it's because the main part of the campus center used to have bells, so they decided to install bells here. But to be honest, a lot of places around here have bells installed, especially schools.

  • It went off again on Monday.

  • Gong bells are to passe.

  • Ladder 3 / Engine 10 are right in that area, they're first arriving for the campus unless it's downtown where Engine 1 is right across the street

  • OMG, I just found out it happened again on the exact date this vid was taken one year later (that's 2/12/08)! And I JUST missed it too (by like 45 min). A toaster in the coffee shop activated a detector and set it off.

  • When I was in seventh grade we had that happen alot they would silence the alarm and it would go off again

  • why do buildings get so warm after a long fire drill when there had been no fire???

  • Haha, I feel the same. It's so strange.

  • AC shuts off when the alarms go off

  • same with me and then you see imaginary smoke..

  • When I was in middle school we had fire drills during lunch and there were a few times where they could not shut off the alarms these things happen thats why you test them and make sure there are not faulty smoke detectors

  • where you in like a food court or the mall?

  • Food court in the Campus Center of the college I attend.

  • bloddy awsome mate!

  • what happened in the building what was going on.

  • read the vid description...

  • what a noise, omg!

  • Back when I was in MacArthur High School in Irving, TX; we had the fire alarm system go off 5 times in one day.

  • I remmember the fire alarms from my school went off 18 times in one day.

  • my 4th grade teacher set off the alarm by accidentally blowing up a bag of popcorn, and set off the alarms. also, she set off the voice EVAC system, which was scary as hell, and the Wheelock NSs and MTs went off in march time(instead of the normal Code 3 for drills). they had a silent knight system, i think.

  • it was very loud.

  • lol, was that loud in there?

  • w/ hundreds of people, no. Had it been empty, probably...

  • University at Albany? I've been there numerous times for fire calls

  • once i was having some lunch i a big center and the alarms go off but no one left (so i didn't leave) and a few mins later it went off again.

  • fucking hell!!!! that must be loud!!!

  • FOr some reason, it sounds louder on camera than it does in person. I'm sure if the place was empty it sure would be loud, but being as it was filled w/ hundereds of people, it wasn't bad at al. It didn't even startle me when it went off. Had I been in the bookstore which has 11 bell/strobes in it...

  • my middle school has the same system

  • Once im my elemenatry school they tested the fire alarms and they wouldnt shut off. We sat outside for 2 hours!

  • did i see the panel along the yellow wall there?

  • Yes, that was a Simplex 4100 (on the left) along w/ auxiliary panels.

  • Simplex had a contract with our school board. And they installed those huge gong bells in every one of our schools. That noise makes me jump every time!

  • Wow! That was a pretty cool video. Caught it right in the action. The remote annunciator sorta sounded like an old Beetle horn. Yeah. the Simplex bells were loud. Very loud.

  • Thanks a-lot for saying at the beginning of the video "Loud noise ahead", More people need to lern to do that. Nice work.

  • Say some one pulled a fire alarm in the main bulding would it sound in all the others?

  • No, it only sounds in that building. Same goes for this one. Granted, this is an extension of the main building, it's 2 different systems, and they're not interconnected.

  • In this video, what bells are those?

  • Simplex 2901-9333 bells on Simplex 4903-9501 retrofit plates.

  • Thanks. I was kinda wondering about what bell Knott's Soak City used for their Wave Pool. It sounds similar to this, so it might as well be a simplex, faraday, or Potter.

  • If you know where the bell is, and can get up close to it, check the label on it, if there is one...

  • Do you have a big bookbag?

  • I wouldn't say "big", but it did have all my stuff in it. I left with only my camera and my lunch. When I put the camera down in the beginning, I was grabbing my lunch. The reasonb the camera wobbled was because I had a floppy table, lol.

  • I was just asking because that girl earlier in the vid that was in front of you when you walked out had a giant bookbag.

  • Your Website you dummy!

  • view my profile to find out...

  • Dude sorry about that, my little brother has apparently been getting on here and commenting this stuff under my name.

  • What's the website name?

  • What website?

  • so they have bell strobe in the food court and speaker stobe in class area buildings

  • The bell/strobes are in the food court and the book store. The places that have voice evac are the Library, Lecture Centers, Performing Arts Center, The Fine Arts building and the main portion of the Campus Center. Everywhere else has horn/strobes.

  • Well, actually the SEFCU Arena and the Phys Ed building also have voice evac...

  • I thought you said the Fine Arts building had horn/strobes?

  • I mean Arts and Sciences. Thx for correcting me.

  • Was that a fire alarm panel in the background, seen through that little entryway thing?

  • Yes, that was the panel in the back ground. The one I show up close was the remote panel. (I know I posted this once, but I accidentally deleted it when deleting other comments).

  • This was not a drill?

  • uh, no...

  • There was a fire?

  • No. If you read the vid description, you'll find that a smoke detector malfunction was the cause.

  • The remote pannel is accualy called a annunciator

  • i have those in my school. there only in the hall ways but when the door is open it is so so so so so loud

  • THAT WAS LOUUUUUUUUUD!

  • Can't say I didn't warn you, lol...

  • I just clicked on to read your reply, had been listening to music so my headphones were on full blast... guess what. Your vid just scared the SH!TE out of me! lol

  • Great to hear some fire bells for once Dan! How many are there in the dining hall?

  • Oh god, TONS. But to keep things simple, there was 4 where I was sitting, around a corner you can see 2 more. There's a few other ones, but I won't go counting them. All of the stores have them installed as well, some even have 2 installed. So, it looks like it would be really loud when it activates, but they really aren't, at least when it's packed w/ people, lol.

  • This is a good vid. Does UAlbany have a large mix of different alarms on campus?

  • To be honest, no. All of the buildings got upgraded at the same time a few years ago. This is the campus center addition, which, oddly enough, did not get upgraded. This addition was built in 1994 and still has all the origional components, with the exception of a section of a couple of stores which have newer components. If you want to see all UAlbany has, go to my website, click on "Fire Alarms", and then "College Fire Alarms".

  • good vid. some times the somkes good bad and the alarm gose off. i give it five!
